Thank you for this fabulous rendition. I was unemployed 41 months and watched this video. It inspired me, I watched it a few more times. I just was awarded a fantastic job - 1 job that 2500 people applied for. Seriously, everyone who's unemployed please don't give up, there's a place for you. I cried when I got the offer letter and was shocked for days. It's one of the hardest things to go through, be strong and "Don't Give Up" Maureen from Chicago.
@MaureenalovesMovies I'm unemployed, too!!! and this song has been my go-to when I feel desperate in trying to find work. So inspirational!! Thanks, Maureen! :D
@aeromilagro85 Thanks for your note. I did the same thing everytime I started to get really depressed about not having a job. It's a horrible thing to go through. But, I'd listen to this song and it would instantly give me hope and well, I just got a great job 3 weeks ago. I'm still not over the loss of income, friends thinking I was not looking hard enough, insensitive people who just don't get it that we're in a recession. Stay strong, and POSITIVE, for the interviews. Good luck!!! Maureen
We just experienced the New Blood tour concert last night. A slow start. Second half better. Orchestra was amazing with members of Philly orchestra participating.. Three hour show. Gabriel is quite good. However, I prefer PG's band. The experience was "different"; but that is what PG is all about.
Better do your homework Jizz. The Democrats have controlled both houses for most of the last 40 years, including the last two years of the Bush Administration and the first two of Obama's.
Putting my favorites back together Never can forget this tune or the concert, Peter Gabriel, Gee the early days of Genesis my friends and self always thought he was awsome, wild ! Paula Cole singing her voice so so makes you melt, ( guitarist David Rhodes, bassist Tony Levin and drummer Manu Katche, jazz violinist Shankar and Kate Bush,William Gibson, Carl Jung and Fela Kuti ).and to the Crews, personal, lights audio video and anyone else I forgot, excuse me, it's 4 AM :) TY for the post !!
Now that I think of it I wouldn't mind seeing Celine Dion give it a shot as well. This still gives me chills, haha. I've only heard it about 100 times.
any warm blooded individual could not help but be "smitten by this kitten", this clip would have blitzed Peter & Kate's performance if aired at the same period... (taking nothing away from Kate's brilliance') I was drenched in pheromones after this... encore...
omg my skin tingled all over - Ive heard so many versions of this but this beats SInead who always makes my skin tingle. Thankyou for putting this up.
This song brings out the best of Gabriel and Paula Cole in a brilliant rendition of a gifted lyrical and vocal inspiration. Why it has a mere 8,191 'views' is a mystery to me. I bought my first DVD player just to hear this album in its full "life statement" of this concept artist, whose concept seems to be to remind us what great singers with soul and compassion can do ion this messed up world.
this song is appropriate in good times or bad, I always get emotional when I here. Paula cole is better then kate bush or tracy chapmen in my opinon. Obama has to stop talking and start doing
Without a doubt, this song is so appropriate for where we are today in America. I've heard this song a thousand times, but this is the first time I heard Paua Cole do it with Gabriel. All the other performances pale in comparison. Her expression, her phrasing... perfect. This song left me absolutely in tears.
Note to Obam: Stop spending so much time focused on your PERSONAL image & trying to force healthcare down our throats. Just DO YOUR GODDAM JOB! $780 Billion Spent. Where are the jobs?
Note this song unless you dont know is about the depression of the 30's, brought to you by the same ignorant mindset that the republicans have to this day, "all business good all government bad"
Perhaps instead of more Obama bashing you lay the blame where it belongs the republican party and the philosophy of bailing out banks
@hyperiontheevil Yes, I know this song is about the depression of the '30s. My comment was that it's also appropriate for where we are today: the depression of the 21st century. Brought to us by 40 years of irresponsible behavior on BOTH sides of the political aisle. NOT just the Republicans. And just when we need fiscal responsibility more than anything, we've got a guy with a socialist ideology who sees this as a chance to bust our economy, rather than fix it. Sorry u can't see that.
Actually my comment wasn't directed at you but what the hell, your blinkered ideology seems to be the same as Bigchief, Blame Obama. Considering that for most of the past 30 years Republicans have had control of both congress and the Senate and they have utterly failed to protect the economy and in fact put Americans in danger by deregulating and by spending like drunker sailors
This little piece of historical revisionism of yours is as myopic as it is amusing
@hyperiontheevil take your thesaurus and get the hell out of here, All you have is shit spewing from your mouth. Obama isnt what you thought he was....Isnt what any of you liberal asshats thought he was, so now you blame his shortcomings on everyone who came before him. wheres your change? oh theres chang alright, get ready for the bread
paula gives me goosebumps on this performance what a voice and shes so cute!!!
