@desr2395 If you tune the frequency knob right you can get pretty great low end, but either way your high end is going to shine through like mad. I own and love this pedal with all my heart, but I'm also looking at a toneczar openhaus because I'm going to some more brutal tones. This pedal works really well with downtuning but I can't stress that frequency knob enough. If you don't adjust it right the pedal will sound like complete crap no matter what your other settings are. Good luck

Doesn't anyone know where the low knob is on these pedals and roll off some of that irritating mid shrill for God's sake!! Sounds like a terrible tone a beginner would like. No wonder people hate high gain pedals, it's all in the proper EQ. There are many ways to get ubergain tones, if you are going to use a pedal stop with the no watt tinny amps, all fizz gain no balls, no low end. Lows up, slightly notch the mids, high about 12:00. Amps simply do not get to the intensity of pedals.

I;ve tested this pedal myself man, and though you're completely right, of course, there's no much you can do about it in this instance, it's just how the pedal sounds like, it's either super scooped or those terrible mid's; But for very specific applications it works

this pedal can go fuck itself, i owned it for a year and a half and once i learned about high volume tone this pedal isnt capable of producing a nice even EQ at high volume. its just to much in a lottle box. besides amp distortion is the only way to go.

During his bark at the moon run at the end there, you can totally tell he's playing the right notes and this pedal just covers up his accentuated picking skills. I would think that a distortion that masks that, is not a good distortion at all.

In order to replicate a pantera or solid state sound, this pedal would probably get the job done, so for a cheap $100 amp, this pedal might be worth it, IMO.

To sum up, saturating one's guitar sound is not always a good thing.

I used to have this pedal but you have to keep the treble back to about 9 o clock at maximum, and the gain the same and up to 12 o clock at the most, otherwise it sounds so trebly and horrible. You can get some nice sounds out of it but overall there was just too much gain for me, but yes great for pantera..

Okay, question. I intend to buy this pedal regardless but i'd really like to know, does thi pedal's noise gate ever interfere with high tones? For example, whenever i use the gate on my über metal pedal, all of my pinch harmonics and high tones get completely blocked out. Its pretty annoying when you need less noise but wanna use a pinch to add a little intensity.

tone is personal pref. this is $100 so is boss and digitech. the other pedals seem to do better because reveiws from years ago make it look tht way. the mxr(2009?) owns in parameters. and with the addition of the noise gate and mid scoop switches i was sold.in the I/0 fx biz modern tech never wins. until mxr comes out with a "full metal jaket" with 8 knobs and 3 channels lol, ill say the hell with the veterans, try somethin new youll b suprised. engineers are payed not to fail folks..rant over
