its amazing to watch the change in his style over the years. I love this early stuff but I feel like you can actually see his face contorting, he's putting so much into it. This is exactly the kind of playing, before he ditched the thumbpick, that eventually caused him to get tendinitis. I think he's actually in pain here. Again, great tune. So f**ckin' raw. But I prefer his later stuff. More controlled and dynamic.
This song is indeed "Up Tempo," but it's also the version on the "Best of the Chrysalis Years" compilation CD. This exact song, note for note, it's an audio recording of this concert. One of the rare chances I think to actually SEE a song being played exactly how it appears on a CD, note for note. I've been waiting for this video, YEAH!
BTW: Do you know, if he was in Germany in 1978?

One of Leo's simpler yet more effective tunes. Great stuff.

this is gonna sound pretty typical, but what tuning is this in?

@Kugman1234 Some form of open C more than likely. Same as busted bicycle and hear the wind howl.

@coolmodine Yep, you're right on the Open C tuning (but tuned down 1.5 to 2.0 steps).

Title of the tune is "Up Tempo", off of the album "Leo Kottke", released in 1976 (on the Chrysalis label). A real kick-ass tune.
