  • They were bang on the money - it's that women don't feel the need to make prats of themselves on stage. Women are better at more subtle comedy - there may be less of them, but they have better senses of humour.

  • The men hardly talked at all and they got more laughs than the woman combined.

  • You even see jack smile. He knew how good it was ha ha ;)

  • Jack and Alan were absolute brilliant there

  • get in there JACK!!

  • Men use humour to impress women but it doesn't really work the other way around. Quite simple really.

  • @eirikwegga They say this but I hardly think it's the entire truth. From my knowledge men tend to joke around with each other a lot more than women do so it could just have something to do with the way our minds work differently.

  • @AcidPresident Sure, and I think that is the reason our minds work differently. As a consequence we also joke around with each other a lot, because our sense of humour isn't turned off when there aren't any women around.

  • I don't know I just don't find women funny. I almost feel guilty for it but honestly I just don't. Sandi is probably the only funny female comedian I know of and she's not *really* a comedian she's just very funny.

  • knitting cakes? WTF female comedians are just shit

  • @lanegwyn Because he is just being rude and it's always easy to draw laughter at being a prick rather than clever.

  • This is not Ronni Ancona's best work, I didn't find it funny at all. IMHO the best comediennes are Victoria Wood, Sarah Millican and Miranda Hart.

  • @lanegwyn And Alan Davis doesn't have say much to get a laugh either but Jack was priceless!

  • brunette lady isn't funny

  • I find that women comedians tend to do less "perverse" humor, or over the top humor, but it's usually funnier that way. As a female that "talks like a guy" I can tell you there is more fun in this kind of humor then the kind of "reserved" kind I see women often do.

  • That dark haired woman is so unfunny. I mean, even for a female comedian she's bad

  • @theguywithoutafoot Are you judging her on this clip or on her work? Because she's is actually really funny.

  • Dorothy Parker is a wonderful exception to the world of only ditsy funny females.

  • @daktakord91 Thank God I'm not the only one that got irritated by that..

  • notice how the dark haired woman tries almost constantly to do a stupid voice so as to seem funnier.

  • @Daktacort91 Well, she is an impressionist/character comic. Her whole act is about doing voices.

  • @kisbie anyone can put on that voice though. she's trying to sound cute and it's annoying

  • im a woman and i dont find women funny

  • Jack and Stephen get more laughter but it could be in the editing. Ronnie is witty and extremely clever (especially as she's more a comic actress than a stand-up), Sandi too (but as a writer she wants to make a cleverly structured point instead of the throw-away lines the audience want to hear), Stephen is in charge and can guess what's coming next and Jack specialises in droll observations. He made me laugh out loud once, Ronnie had me constantly chuckling and Sandi made me grin and nod.

  • I laughed like a drain when jack said his line.

  • This episode was weird. It stands out as not being particularly funny but had a lot more serious debate in there.

  • kinda proved that these women aren't funny

  • @lanegwyn yeah and anything alan says gets a bigger laugh than the two, i do find the two funny, but id rather pay to see jack or alan

  • The scientific suspicion is that men have to be funny, because men compete for females, and humor is an advantage. It's tied to the fact that human babies are programmed to smile, so a man making a woman smile essentially builds a family bond. Ergo, men crack more jokes (which is statistically true), and women laugh more at jokes (as mentioned in the show). It's just biology. Assuming the theory holds, of course.

  • @7j8i9m which then could probably mean that lesbians are funnier then straight women.

  • Epic. Once you get them started, they won't shut up.

  • Maybe the host just doesn't find women as interesting as men?

  • watch?v=I7izJggqCoA

  • I've yet to laugh at a female comedian, its always about periods and stupid ex boyfriends.

  • Love Jack Dee =D

  • Ronnie's story about female comedians made me cringe a bit, she pretty much proved the fact that women aren't very funny.

  • @Jeroenoman The other woman I find hilarious in everything I see though; strange as I generally find all comediennes terrible!

  • @Jeroenoman Then please explain French and Saunders, Jo Brand and Miranda Hart to me.

  • @Bethywethy6 Oh, please. There are exceptions. Don't get your panties in a knot.

  • @BeBoBli Wow. You sound like an amazing human being. Now excuse me, i have some kittens to raise.

  • @Bethywethy6 Miranda hart is an awful comedian but I'll give you Jo Brand, she is great. You have to admit though, in general men are funnier than women.

  • @Bethywethy6 Miranda Hart is as funny as a poke in the eye. Jo Brand could be a man, no would has dared ask. List of male comics that are world class is endless.

  • @TheDrunkSpunk and French and Saunders??

  • @Bethywethy6 i've met few men that find it funny, mainly woman find that shit bearable. on the other hand vicar of Dibley was so much more funny.

  • @TheDrunkSpunk Well then, I guess it's subjective. I know loads of men who find Miranda Hart and French and Saunders hilarious. There are certainly more male than female comedians, but like everything else, that will change. Women like Shappi Korsandi and Ronni whatshername don't do female comedians justice.

  • @Bethywethy6 I agree, I'm a guy and I find French and Saunders and Miranda hilarious, there's fewer funny female comedians because there are fewer female comedians in general. I think a lot of the time people bring an attitude of 'women aren't funny' with them when they watch comedy and it means female comedians have an uphill battle against a crowd.

  • alan and jack had one line each...and they got more laughs than whatever ronnie or sandi said

  • @Superman1259 nailed it.

  • "Is it because once you get them started they don't shut up." Fucking epic.

Delivered completely straight with perfect comedic timing.

  • Christopher Hitchens has some great ideas about this.

  • men are wayyyy funnier

  • The saddest thing about this clip is Ronni tries so hard to be funny to prove the point wrong and just fails so awfully. I think women are funny, it's just less common, maybe because humor is valued so much more in men as a competitive trait.

  • jack dee you legend.

  • Am I the only who thought Alan's line was funnier and more endearing than Jack's?

  • @Omgonthe123 ditto

  • Sandi Toksvig, however, /is/ funny :p Definitely one of my favourite comedians.

  • "people are always laughing at mine" looooooooooool alan

  • the bird with the black hair pretty much proved the point that most women are incapable of being funny.

  • @lanegwyn well it's also partially because the more the women comedians air their grievances, the more uncomfortable the audience gets - no doubt aware of our complicity in the current state of affairs - and so jack dee's quips break the tension, getting relieved laughter as a release. but of course you're not going to get an argument from me that either of these women are better comedians than jack. give me sarah millican, jo brand or miranda hart and then it's fair game ;D

  • @lanegwyn but you must admit that any episode with jo brand is extremely hilarious.,,

  • @admiraledache Mainly because Jo Brand isn't afraid to take the piss out of herself

  • @lanegwyn Its bout timeing and comic punchline. Jack Dee is a master ov that.

  • I Being funny helps men spread their DNA. Women like men that can make them laugh, a man usually doesn't care if a woman makes him laugh.

  • Sandi Toksvig and Miranda Hart aside most women just aren't funny. But to be honest how many guys would like to date a really funny woman? not many.

  • I believe the word we're all looking for is "PWNED!!!!" I love Sandy, though. She's got such a spectacularly dry, British wit.

  • 1 hermaphrodite comedian disliked this video.

  • Humor is one of the many skills men developed to get women to sleep with them. Being funny is essentially just another version of the mating dance. All creative endeavours initially developed out of a desire to get laid. Thus females are hardwired to prefer male comedians. And since many female comedians don't have very good delivery and tend to make jokes mostly about the tribulations of being female, they don't have much of a potential audience. Some exceptions do exist, though.

  • I thought it is because to get noticed on panell shows you had to intrupt and be extroverted. More a male trait. I suspect if everyone had a set amount of time women and shyer guys would be hilarious.

  • @lanegwyn

Wait so you actually think comedy should be judged on how much you talk ?

    Wow...just wow.

  • Alan people are always laughing at mine LOL

  • If I was on I would have been so tempted to say "It's that only ugly women are funny because they can't depend on their looks to get through life and even in England there aren't that many ugly chicks on TV so yeah"

I'm sure that would have gotten a warm reception from the women in the crowd :P

  • "Yeah, happy days..."

    Wintastic.

  • yeah, i don't know about this "science" of humour. on most panel shows with woman panelists, it's the men who don't shut up, busy in a shouting match to get their witticisms in and top one another in a punch line. if you take a look at the amount of times when a woman comedian gets interrupted in mid-sentence and not willing to put up the fight for a joke which then, because of the effort, doesn't live up (even conversational, halfhearted jokes get judged for superiority), it seems complicated..

  • jack dee hit it right on the money.also women are not funny. if you have a look at the amount of lines jack dee and alan davies had and the vast difference in laughter they got compared to the women

  • @lanegwyn i think its because women are just not funny

  • I've watched 5 examples of QI and still wonder what is really going on. Is there a score involved? The conversation is fascinating but it has all the visuals of a game show without actually being one.

  • @NAFmunchausen so each season is a new letter of the alphabet and each episode is based on something starting with that letter. If there is a really obvious answer that is incorrect then an alarm will sound. Each episode has 3 new guests with Alan and Stephen on every episode. At the end of each episode the scores that have been collected are read out and a winner is determined.

  • Ancona really is a stereotype..

  • the reason women aren't as funny is cos they don't need to be. guys who are funny get laid, women just have to look pretty and they'll get laid

  • @lanegwyn

Jack Dee got more laughs because he had perfect timing, and is simply funnier than the two women on the panel.

Only an imbecile would see it as sexism.

  • Great to see Stephen LOL like that.

  • 'Is it once you get them started they won't shut up' LOL

  • @lanegwyn you're probably right. I adore Sandi, she is smart and funny (even though she doesn't get as much laughs as the guys). But Ronnie is just horrible in my opinion. She is hot, but hasn't got much to say. What a shame.

  • Women tend to be less confident. Confidence is the essence of humour. Simple as that. That's why women talk more - they're trying too hard, men just let a funny quip escape and it's funny.

  • @lanegwyn "Brevity is the soul of wit." - William Shakespeare

Though your point might not be untrue your reasoning is not necessarily correct.

  • I don't think it's that women CAN'T be as funny, I think it's that a lot of female comedians still base their acts on the fact that they are female. Which just isn't funny. The ones that don't do that are the funny ones.

  • Why is there such a correlation between pretty girls and stupidness?

My theory: GENERALLY pretty girls don't bother learning in school and becoming educated because they know, when they grow up, they're going to end up marring a rich guy to sponge off. Whilst the vice versa produces, witty, smart, educated women. This video is a prime example of this.

  • @kiemul136 I think there may be some truth to your theory, although IMO it applies to both genders. Beautiful people are more prone to coast through life on their looks.

  • Roni Ancona is soooooo hooooot

  • My favorite joke in here is Alan's!

'People are always laughing at mine...' ! Hilarious!

  • I shall henceforth write a very lengthy article in the comment section about this subject during which I will implement the use of many intelectual sounding words, regardless of wether I know what they mean or know hoe to spell them. The use of made up words will also be predentable.

This will subsecuentially make me appear smart and I will recieve many complements on this, something I clearly lack in actual life.

And even when I have reached the characters limit I will keep going until I run ou

  • Why aren't there more women on QI? Cos they're too busy doing there nails, buy shoes & getting fat on chocolate.

  • @P2J6O8 and we can still do that all and still be funnier and smarter than you

  • @EmmaB3545

& yet men can choose things better then women. Men can multi-task but some of the time we just choose not to.

  • @P2J6O8 i'm not going to bother making generalizations about men and women cause, if we're being honest, we are about equal on what we can and can't do.

All I'm going to say is out of the two of us, the one with XY chromosomes was the one who went with the obvious comment about women spending all their time buying shoes and eating chocolate. Get a bit more creative

  • That makes total sense to me now! I'm a girl and I don't really like it when they have female comedians on tv programs, like QI, because I don't find them funny. Now I know I'm not the only one!!

  • Shappi Crosandi? or however it is spelt, shes funny :)

  • @lanegwyn

i agree. it's the same with most females in my social circle.

  • i am strugling to think of a woman that would be good on QI that isnt jo brand : )

  • @draklorian jo brand sucks too

just a bunch of fkin period and obesity jokes

  • perfect timing there by Jack Dee

  • @anus419

Yep, could not have put it better myself

  • @anus419 Interesting name you have there. I would have called myself prolapsedanus if it were available.

  • @anus419 LOL!!!
