I know this is an old video & maybe you wont read this... but after 40 seconds I am in tears.... my 3 year old daughter has PDD-NOS and we are struggling with teaching her lessons that most people cant comprehend having to teach. I waited over 3 years to even hear her speak the words Momma (pronounced "Nonna") & Love you (Luuu Yooou). Thank you for sharing this video!
my son just turn 3 years old in May, he has autism. Watching this video of this lovely boy brings me lots of hope thank you for sharing this video. May God bless you n your family n may God brings us all lots of strength hope n Faith!
Evy you are an amazing young man. I have a son that is 13 with high functioning autism. It is amazing.the similarities in them. Keep up the wonderful work with him and know there are other out there that are in the same boat and understand the blessings, struggles and everyday issues.
Thank you for posting. My son is 7 years old and has had the same struggles at school. He loves music as well. Nobody seems to understand high functioning autistic "depression" unless you are a parent or close family member who has seen the struggle. Your son is so much like mine. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR BEAUTIFUL BOY.
wow, thank you for sharing that video! I do ABA therapy with autistic kids and your son reminds me of one of my kids. So much to offer and such a big heart. He is such a good singer! He really is adorable too =)
GREAT video! Many people don't understand high functioning Autism. My son is high functioning as well, it is SUCH a fight to get him services or for people to understand his needs. This video is awesome for creating awareness!! Your son is beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
@TheSimpleMommy I feel the same, my son has autism and just the opposite. he is HF but when his sensory stuff sets him off, the school says he is disruptive not autistic anymore. I hate how the system is.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I have spent hours daily--thousands of hours overall--working with my HFA son to help him function in the home and among peers. Evy is very good at responding to questions. My boy is 7 and he often answers questions with movie or book quotes. It's great to be able to watch and learn from so many other HFA kids and families.
What an adorable boy! I wish him the best of luck with his school years.
My 5-year-old daughter started school this year. She was also diagnosed this year with HFA. I'd known for a long time that she was different; it just took a long time to find specialists who could put a name to what I was seeing.
My daughter has a lot of similarities to your son; not least the fact that she also has a great singing voice!
Very good video. I love your way of explaining autism. He is very eloquent. This is a great video. I literally said, "Wow" with his singing. That was really good. Again, I love the video. Thanks!
I don't understand why the system is pushing this kids to be "normal", when those "normal people" are the one that needs to be educated about autistic children. I believe this will have a huge impact in the process of recovery. My child, for instance, never stock blocks until the intervention program tested him with blocks!!!, they ask, does he stock blocks, i said NO... and they still tested him on it, he learned, ugh!. we "normal people" seriously need help! :)
I have high functioning autism.. It's pretty damn hard to think and express myself properly. Now that I'm older (19) I can look back and see what I can do and say differently. But still it's difficult to express myself properly in different situations..Even now it's pretty hard.
im so happy to found this video, i feel the same way as the kid feel in this world when i was about his age, now i feel im not alone anymore, i just know this when i do some google search for autism, it really hard to be autism, i sometimes feel my brain might blow because of too much thinking, i wish i can be a normal person
My daughter (six years old) has high-functioning autism and share a lot of similarities with this lovely boy. Especially the part when he is spoken to - avoiding eye-contact, the facial expressions, body language etc. She also struggles with following social norms when playing with others. Thanks for posting!
I have Asperger's and i can relate to the innocence of the eyes. I'm 32 and still have that innocence. Still have trouble relating to people and likely always will.
Message from REDEMPTION: This user will follow my feelings. Because..........I feel evil monsters in my brain to, except they are not monsters... They are PEOPLE... And I follow up to them in my imagination. We formed into a society, that is now an Empire that is evil. My imaginary name before was RED V short for RED VENDETTA, now since in my imagination I have quit this Sin like society that is now an Empire.
My son has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS, and watching this video I see him. I just wish everyone could understand. People just think my son is naughty...they can't see his disability. It's such a hard thing to deal with. God made my son the way he is for a reason, and I wouldn't have him any other way!!!
Don't high functioning autistic kids become more cognitive as they grow up? I mean a lot of kids can live in a fantasy world when theyre in elementary school, but i feel like it would be easier to deal with as they become more conscious
This is EXACTLY what it is like for my son, who is now 6 and in the first grade. The similarities are downright eerie. Thanks for sharing! How is Evy doing now?
i have a lot of insights from watching Evy. He actually expresses himself very well. eg) he couldnt get his body in control during Music. I'd be curious what kind of music or who was singing. Your son can feel others, and reacts to his surroundings. Also, I'd be curious what he sees when he looks in others eyes. I have asked many children, it's astounding what see.
I have watched this video a few times. Thanks for sharing your son.I see many gifts in Evy. His eyes are very telling. He is a wise soul. His words are very profound when talking about what was in his mind, vs what was in his heart. <3 Beautiful soul!
This is a fantastic video. He reminds me so much of my son, Jared. He, too, was very autistic and it took a lot time, teaching, and special schools (and very special teachers) to bring him out of the deep depths of autism. He is now also high functioning.
Thanks so much for this video. I'm going to send the link to his teacher! :) (I finally have him in regular school and out of self-contained--which took a lot of meetings and work, to fight for my son and teach his teachers!).
I believe that people with HFA are more normal than the typical emotional person who can do the most retarted thing in a very important situation because of their emotions. People wtih HFA are smart achievers who dont allow their emotions take control of their lives. I have more respect for people with HFA than those who are emotional babies. Its a good question to see who the real retards are in this world.
Respectfully, many Asperger children are very sensitive. Almost acutely aware of what everyone is feeling. When put in a classroom , these children are like "indicator species". They will tell you what is "bad" in the room and what is positive. And they are very good at spotting horrible teachers who pretend to be "good".
Dare to Cure Autism is a group of doctors that are exposing that the vaccines are the cause and greater than that, they are CURING these poor kids. Don't be led astray by your drug pushing doctors.
My son has high functioning Autism as well and your child is so similiar to mine! (Other than your childs awesome musical talent) It's great to see how well your son is doing and gives my family hope. Thanks for posting!
That was really great. My son is 11yrs old year7 at school with HFA. I could see similarities with both. My son too is into the piano, having issues with friends not playing with him anymore. Heartbreaking to watch as a Mum, even harder when its your own child. Thank you for airing that. Tim also as a UTube clip if your interested. Titled: Autism - Timothys speech. Maybe our sons could email one another. We are from New Zealand. Hugs and all the best in your families future.
Crying is a release of feelings that are flooded inside a person. Maybe you "cry" but in a different way? Maybe your cry is a physical or mental release rather than a release of tears? But I stopped crying around the age of 11 and didn`t cry again until I was around 20 so I don`t think it is unusual to not cry, but I do think crying is a healthy release from time to time.
@MadamMusuc ????? what is heartbreaking? i hate when people say autism is heartbreaking. they act like it means you've got terminal cancer or something.

I'm a 36 year old boy raising an autistic son on my own. I'm currently getting evicted from our apartment because a neighbor was continuously calling him retard, so I fought back (with words.) What I'm learning is that the world around him is full of judgemental assholes who don't give a damn about him or anyone else who is different.
He reminds me so much of my daughter. She is going in for Autism testing tomorrow. She so smart, that sometimes it's scary. yet there are definite differences between how she learns and how a person typically learns. She looks at the world differently than others, and I think your vid is right on. Thanks!
Wonderful video, my sweet daughter has been special ed since pre-k, is now in 3rd grade, still reads very little, has all the signs of Autism and is going to be evaluated this month. Getting this information out is vitally important, as parents need to stand up for their kids in school to assure they receive the proper education they need. If we had known more about autism earlier she would have been evaluated sooner. Keep up your good work and God bless.
Thank you so much for making this. I love how you are so open to learning about autism from your son's perspective and relaying it in such a honest and sincere way. I think you have helped alot of people.

how exactly did god do that? there is no such thing, it is all in the mind, unless that is what you mean. I didnt get a diagnosis until I was 25, and the damage was done. where was this god when I needed 'he/she/it'?
My son says some of these same things when he has behavior problems. He will say that he has a monster in him or that he cant control it (the behavior) thought it was interesting the connection.

It's extremely helpful to watch this. My son is 6, and in K because what we perceived as immaturity.
Getting him to look me in the eyes, and dialog with me, it's really difficult.
I think what's more striking for me is the way Mom is talking to Evy. It's the same way I have to script my dialog with my son.
What about allergies - my son is allergic to darn near everything (eggs and milk esp.)
