Silent breathing techniques exist that could substitute or even improve what players like Azarenhoooootka and Screamapova are going for. What it boils down to this: the noise is a distraction and intimidation tactic. And it works wonders in the same way on tennis viewers. Because of it, the sport definitely is losing more fans than it gains. For you doubters, well...as they say: “Ignorance is bliss.” This is my final word. I am no longer following the thread. Pound sand dungzhole.
why would you run away from the argument? i'm just trying to shed some light from a players perspective. I'm not intentionally trying to be a show off or anything.
It is a necessary. If you play tennis, than you know that screaming helps you breathe. These two players are the two harder hitting women on the tour and when you hit with that kind of pace, it is harder to breath and concentrate on other aspects of the game even if they are professionally trained. You will thank them later because eventually women will eventually reach the physical status of men and more people will watch women's tennis.
@duongz That's a bunch of bunk. Even if it was true, then lift a few more weights, not abuse the ears of a significant number of the tennis audience with your selfish excuse for endless SCREAMING and hooooooooooting that supposedly makes you hit harder. And have no doubt. There are many fans who are tolerating this less and less. It's called moving on to another channel. So much for more people watching women's tennis. And it's a problem with men, too.
@ebcebcebc123123123 And let's not forget the audience who might start watching tennis, hear that mind numbing crap and ask someone like me how in God's name can I stand it. More and more I'm answering them by saying that's a very good question.
@duongz Having ones ears bombarded while watching a tennis match has nothing to do with ones ntrp level. Only someone with no clue on the subject at hand would trot that one out.
so why wouldn't you tell me if you play or not. Only people who play tennis at a high level appreciate and respect the hardships of the game. i play at a 4.5 level and thats why I understand why they scream. So if you don't play tennis, you are basically commenting on a subject that you have no field experience on.
@duongz You have now proved your complete cluelessness for the second time. Could it be any clearer that the subject I started and that you have been commenting on deals specifically with the noise's effect on the millions of people who watch. Also, only elitist snobs stuck up about their ntrp level would say they are vastly more qualified to comment on why tennis players scream. In any event, it's a major distraction from the game. Period. Now stick that in your ntrp rating and shove it.
sharapova just can't take the ball early like a serena, clijsters, li na or kvitova can. And you have to do that if your gonna hurt azarenka

is it that much of a struggle for therm to hit the ball that they have to scream like that?

Hooting and screaming has been killing women's tennis. This howl, hoot and guttural scream-a-thon is an unwatchable embarrassment.
