Land of the Free my arse. Children should be tried as children, ie as not possessing the faculties of an adult, especially when it comes to questions of responsibility for murder etc. They aren't adults, and they can be reformed, locking them away forever is not justice.

Apparently the stepfather was a good man who reached out to his son by dirt biking/fishing with him.

It may or may not be true but it's wrong to assume someone is wrong/guilty/abusive without tangible evidence. That is a principal tenet of your rights/freedom (innocent until proven guilty)

Either way they waited in his house and gunned him down (with his own guns that they stole) while his mother was away so they could steal the car and run away ....

um hello? they killed somebody! i dont know the circumstances but if they just killed for the sake of it then they should be punished, maybe not life but about 20 years which is harsh but humane. kids do know right from wrong especially major things like murder and abuse, most people do. kids are more violent now than ever, and you cant blame it all on childhood, videogames or parents, everyone has a choice in the end, take some responsibility!! it will do them good in the long run haha!
