  • Did everyone forget the everly's version...?

  • Beautiful, haven't heard this song for a long time, thank you for bringing back a beautiful oldie

  • Well, if you like this type of music - OK. But calling this "rock'n'roll is a silly joke.

  • @aniger33334

Do you even know what Rock n' Roll really is?. and who the Rock n' Roll singers are, or the era of Rock n' Roll?.

Elvis is Rock n' Roll and he sang ballads.

  • I did not realize that so many artists recorded this song. Great ballad. IMO it comes down to Williams or Tillotson.

  • The great CARL BELEW wrote and recorder this cllasic Thomas Haverstock

  • Ray Price recorded this song in 1957

  • Good!

Was George Jones version the original?

  • @zaaritha

I believe the original was by Andy Williams.

  • Andy Williams also has a wonderful version of "Lonely Street". Tillotson, an icon of my youth , , , , , the 50's and early 60's. . . . . wonderful, smooth, dreamy, non-violent MUSIC, with unmatched lyrics.

  • not bad,but think Gene Vincents version is better.

  • I've always been a big Johnny Tillotson fan. He also comes from my hometown. Never got to see him perform in person though.

  • golden age of music 60's

  • did tammy wynnette not have a version of this song ????

  • @mazmochan ..Yes on her *divorce* album...excellent version too..!

  • I like Johnny Tillitoson very Much.

but for Johnny its the same like for any other Singer who sing Lonely Street. Nobody can mess up with Gene Vincent's beautifully Version of Lonely Street. Gene Voice broke my Heart every Day.

  • patsy cline...has a chilling version of lonely street....!

  • Sorry to say mac..Andy Williams covered this much earlier..and his version is the definitive track..his vocals are haunting and powerful..as for Johnny Tillotson..his version is absolutely fantastic..same music with the same dedication to the lyrics..it's a worthy remake, worthy of Johnny's talent and class

  • That's one man's opinion.

  • @barrygioportmorien1 And that was his opinion.
