Some women might agree with this as a desperate move to escape poverty and misery and possibly other reasons. But I don't believe that if they had the choice, this would be the life they would choose. They cannot live separately even for few days. so when ever my sister comes to our home, within 2 or 3 days her husband also comes. we all laugh when ever they both cling to each other like magnets. If a couple cannot understand and respect each other and the relationship then it doesnt matter what type of marriage it is.

How about an arranged divorce? In my case, I'd rather date someone and live separately. I would like companionship, but value love freedom and space too. I think it's very unhealthy, intrusive, sickening and repulsive to allow potential marriage suitors to have chapperones attend their courting and I would never allow it.

@titoferni29 the same way you would love someone before marriage. Except, after marriage both know for sure that they need to 'really' try, not just pretend or work at the relationship only if they feel like it.
Spontaneous is short lived, if you want lifetime commitment you need to keep an open mind. Arranged marriages do just that, granted your view and wishes were respected by the elders.

From my own experience, many Indian woman have no understanding, knowledge or acceptance towards a prospective groom who has a learning/social disability. Even the brides family discriminate towards him because of their ignorance. So please just get over it.

@dua44ever Sometimes and sometimes not, I mean I love and respect my mom but last time I checked, she is still a human which makes her a student in life too. Heirarchy keeps people from really be able to discover their individuality, I respect unity consciousness but it can't be forced. There are so many types of families, loving and unloving, each one is different, this has the potential like anything else to support human error, so obviously this is not the divine way.

I slightly disagree with you..be it Indian women or men ...raised anywhere..if they are Indian and they have the values..they will know the meaning of the relation marriage..it's not just a word or a contract for money...the reason why there is a low divorce rate is b/c when it comes to marriage..the compatibility of not just two people but the two families are judged b/c that's what marriage is..it's between 2 families...the love for one another and for each other's families for life.

Some women might agree with this as a desperate move to escape poverty and misery and possibly other reasons. But I don't believe that if they had the choice, this would be the life they would choose. I happen to have a friend of Indian ancestry and she told me once about this type of stuff and it just shocked me, because I think it's not that different from roaming through the Red Light district in Holland and picking a girl from the show window.

Interesting, but the whole advertisement deal is a little weird to me. I hear the poor aren't fairing so well though because the woman's family has to pay dowrys, which is expensive, so males are much favored (i.e. sex selective abortion).
