  • I loved this so much! Great song choice! It was so romantic it made my heart ache.

  • It made me cry in a good way :)

  • Just a lovely video...I think Edna was his best leading lady...they had a real rapport on the screen. It's too bad the real life romance broke up after a time.

  • I read that after Edna retired from the movies, Chaplin kept her on his payroll for the rest of her life.

  • wonderful!great!

  • why weren't they together "forever"? Edna brought out all the cuteness from Chalpin.

  • This song i didn't knew is so endlessly great and moves me... it fits perfect to the pics with these great actress and the ingenious Chaplin!!

  • @gfks11 genious chaplin...wonderful indeed!

  • What colour were Charlie's eyes? Maybe green?

  • @illumegoindown They were very blue :)

  • @illumegoindown Yes, they were very blue. Not that ice bllue color, like Stan Laurel, but a sea blue. Chaplin says in his auto-bio that women were frequently suprised that his eyes were blue, as they many times photographed dark brown.

  • I've got an old 1924 tobacco card of Edna Purviance. Watching clips like these brings my card collection to life. Sadly, many of the early silent movie stars aren't up on YouTube. Thumbs up for a great vid clip!

  • Probably the best episode of Full House ever - the wedding!! Love how this sequenced to Charlie & Edna!

  • what is the film at 0:18 , look really great

  • what is the film at 0:18 , look really great

  • what is the film at 0:18 , look really great

  • It´s from Behind the Screen.

  • Thanks for posting, btw :)

  • LOVE this vid! I was always bummed they didn't marry. I also do think that they were seriously involved at one point, it was obvious..they had a lot of chemistry. I've never read Charlie's autobiography but I think he mentions how serious they were. But it was just one of those things, it just didn't work out. Charlie was most certainly in his heyday and I'm sure being in show business and the limelight has effect on personal relationships. From what I understand, he was quite a workaholic too.

  • edna was the most beautiful of his girls. even more than mrs. hale

  • The chemistry was incredible with these two. The song is perfect.

  • Where can I watch these films?

  • De flesta går att se här på YouTube. Jag kollade lite snabbt, och då var det bara filmerna In the Park och The Vagabond som jag inte hittade hela utav.

Var det någon speciell film du ville veta titeln på?

  • That lucky girl. T-T

  • smoochie-boochies! lots of chemistry between them

  • A genius and a great human who suffered from human failings including manic depression and the aftermath of a traumatic childhood. Yes, he should have married her!

  • Good call: that's what i always said, too!

  • yeah I remember now, I miss Full House

  • this song is so nice and romantic, who sings it???

  • You can read that in the description. It's John Stamos.

  • i love full house!

  • remember??

    in full house???

  • Beautiful - music and movie too - i love chaplin :-)

  • beautiful

    thank you so much

  • Beautiful video, I've shown it to every one I know it seems like. Could you tell me what the scenes with the wedding, and with him grabbing her with hsis cane are from?

  • The wedding-clip is from The Bond, and the clip where he grabs Edna with his cane is from Shanghaied.

  • @ChaplinsViolin Hey, I enjoyed your video; I just came across it a couple of hours ago or so. (Cute screen name you have, too.) Thanks for posting it; it's beautiful. Also, I wanted to thank you for answering the questions on the wedding and cane-grabbing scenes; I've had those same questions myself, having seen those clips before elsewhere.

  • Is it John Stamos singing? Sounds just like David Cassidy if u ask me....

  • I wish someone would sing this to me.

  • lol John Stamos just posted this on his twitter.

  • Yeah I know, that's how I found it :P

But I bloody LOVE this song.

When I watch Full House and it's the episode with this on it, I turn it up full blast and annoy the shit out of my rents with it :P

  • Yes That's where I found it too! lol

  • this video brought a tear to my eyes, its really something.

i agree with the people on here, they should've married.. yet at the same time it was better they didn't as they wouldn't have had that special friendship between them.

Edna was one of the most beautiful woman of the movie scene

  • this is very good , so cute , i love it , thank u

  • i caught myself saying "awe" though out this entire video...

words can not describe how great Chaplin is.

  • Beautiful!!!!! This video is 100% love.... Chaplin too...!!!! Saludos a todos los fans de Carlitos Chaplin.

  • 1.36, he tries to make a baby with her, thats cute! :P

  • not very many people know this but edna played probably the first spunky herione ever in the movies, in chaplins short film behind the screen. check it out, its very cute and only fifteen minutes long. its on youtube.

  • He was a genious, she was a very pretty woman. ;- )

  • Please tell me what is song's name? Anyway Charlie Chaplin is the King of Comedy..Love him soo much

  • The song is called Forever, and John Stamos is the one who sings it.

  • the song was written by dennis wilson

  • i cant tell you how much i love this video its absolutely perfect thanks so much!!!

  • Such a lovely woman. Edna Purviance was one of Hollywood's many tragedies. It's too bad that she and Charlie Chaplin didn't marry. I think she really loved him, but it was unrequited. I think she took to the bottle and died in her 60s. Of all the words of prose and pen, the saddest are these, "it might have been"

  • Lovely

  • Happy 113th birthday Edna Purviance!

  • He supported her all her life until she died, never missed a month. She was his first real love. She was very pretty.

  • They really are very cute together. I think Chaplin was extremely handsome, especially in his younger days. : )

  • hehehe,they sure did kiss a lot =)

    Edna's cute!

  • Thanks Chaplin's violin...I just discover you...I loved your work.

  • The kiss at 53-55 ...which movie was this?

  • It's from Behind the Screen (1916).

  • That was so beautiful! They were one of the greatest couples ever, it's too bad he never did marry her.

  • My favorite is the puppy scene. They look so natural! And the way she squeezes him. Adorable together! Edna's my fave.

  • Fantastic, thank you!

  • I understand that chaplin lost touch with reality while hard at work on a project. Edna got lonely and had a fling with another man. Chaplin could never forgive her for that but he took care of her. He kept her on his payroll her entire life. Chaplin once said that Edna was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen. Their relationship, although not always romantic, would remain one of great respect and affection.

  • Did Chaplin go in his own word, is it that u mean? :o That he got a away from the reality because he worked so hard with his career? :o

  • from my research i understand that nothing meant more to chaplin than his art. he just got lost in it and became a different person. He struggled with his personal life as a result. he would just forget everyone in his life and focus on creating a film. That is why he was such a brilliant artist.

  • my God :o

I didn't know that about Chaplin at all!

Poor thing, that's maybe the reason that he had many wifes, he changed. But we can see it in his movies that he really left his soul in his work.

  • why did he preffer to marry Mildred Harris instead of marrying Edna ?

  • Because she had said she was pregnant and they married.

  • i loved it. great job!!!

  • so cute

  • very very pretty. Thanks.

  • i wish he had married her ^^

  • Did Charlie and Edna have a relationship?

This video is put together so beautifully.

  • This is adorable. I just watched them in A Day's Pleasure <3 Question.. what is the puppy scene near the end from?

  • What a beautiful surprise! I love the films of Charles Chaplin - and I really love that song. "Forever" was written by Dennis Wilson, who was the younger brother of Brian Wilson.

The interpretatian of the song is phantastic. Never heard it before. Thank you for it.

  • aww i luv it when they kiss!! i really wish they'd gotten married....:'( they r perfect 4 eachother...
