Maybe it's just me, but I never really enjoy hearing these quartets on the contest stage. It's the mics. I've heard a few quartets on the contest stage, and then heard them just hanging around, and they sound much better "raw". To me, there's just a huge difference in sound from the contest mic to non-miced. There have been a few quartets that there wasn't much of a difference, but it was still there. I dunno...maybe i'm just crazy, lol.

great lock, great sense of rhythm. I think they'd do better if the lead added less vocal "flourishes", like the growl voice and the yelp - the quartet loses the lock and ring and some of the magic goes away. If he could add personality without coming out of vocal placement, that's probably a top 10 or even top 5 performance.
