Actually PNG is still largely unknown. I've researched the island and read articles that stated there are about 40 uncontacted tribes here as well as many unexplored valleys and jungles sort of like Amazonia and Alaska, which is also largely wilderness. As late as the 1930's the Dani tribe, which consisted of 5,000 people made first contact with the outside world
