This 2nd version of Elsewhere was in the 3100 block of N. Clark St., a bit below Belmont. I think it was probably '76 or maybe '77, I don't recall exactly. It was the start of many great nights at that location, that then later moved, and today is known as "Blues" on N. Halsted St. I was on bass in this video, keeping out of the way!
Great stuff Gerree! I saw many great gigs at both Elsewhere's(and the 1st Kingston Mines) during my dozens of blues excursions to Chicago from my hometown of Milwaukee during the mid/late 70s.I do believe that Bill who did the bookings at EW now is the owner of Bill's Blues in Evanston.
Believe it was 78' or 79' on Chicago's Northside. It was the grand opening of Elsewhere's 2nd bar (this 3 day event provided alot of good musicians jamming).
else wheres was so great...I saw 4 acts on a sat nite...including Wrencher....he later came over to Detroit and played with his old pal Baby Boy Warren 1977 I think. Next door I saw Homesick James....very strange.
Oh wow... I've never seen footage of my great grandpa Big John. Thanks for posting!
