Anindo Chatterjee's powerful style, with the deep melody that he adds to his rhythms, gives me goosebumps! All I can say is...WOW!!! Thanks for posting this : )
Yes indeed... Undoudtedly Zakir ji..Swapan ji & Anindo ji are of same league ( depends on personal preferences)......but where from Sameer ji( most ordinary one if compared with his generation tabla players)..Tari ji ( predominantly a ghazal/ /Light Classical tabla player) come in here? Lastly..Late Kishen Maharaj ji is altime great with his profound knowledge & mastery over the subject that all tabla players acknowledge with deep respect.
Anindo is the best playrer the mastery he has over his style of playing is just impecable. His furosious timing and delivery is just awakening. Also his sence of melody and attention to tuning, everything is ON with Anindo je. if you listen to his resitation and compositions they are both seemless and flawless. I enjoy other players like Samir je, Tari Khan, Zakir Husain, Swapan je, Kishin Maharaj and others but Anindo just is just absalute majic.
this guy is by far the most gifted. his speed clarity and natural feel in both slow and fast settings is superb. hes like a computer with the gifts of a human soul
at this years saptak festival in ahmedabad, Pandit Kumar Bose performed perhaps one of the greatest solos he's played, miles ahead of Ustad Zakir Hussain ( I don't mean to create a competition, but I mean to make aware to others that Zakir Hussain, although he is one of the greats, is not the best out there...something he will admit to himself.
you must not listen to much of zakir hussain's solos. i've heard the kumar bose solo you are talking about, and agree that it was great, but i've heard some live solos of zakirji that are way better. i don't know any tabla ustad or pandit that would admit to being the best.
Agreed to the fact that no learned person will ever call himself the best. I've been avidly studying tabla for the past 10 years and have been engrossed in it for the past 15, particularly Zakir Hussain, so I'm quite familiar with his style as well as his repetoire. Personally, I view Pandit Kumar Bose's solo at Saptak this year as one of the most complete solos I've heard. But to each his own.
yes you are right have seen these both play and Kumar is virtuistic, as Is Anindo in The" sounds" He pulls out of the Drums -like no other uses..Kumar is amazing....
What to say this is awesome such playing makes you feel really deprived of the fine classical music which is disappearing but is kept alive by players such as Anindoda himself , art of the heavens!!!!!!!! Very Demanding and extremely hard to master (I must say it is not possible to master!!!)....
Hi could u let me know where this maestro is as I really want to learn this great art I do play the violin but a really interested in the Tabla especially after listening to Ahmed Jaan Thrikwa Sahib...Please give me his contact number thanks.
AMAZING! This man above all else, is a brilliant artist, and beautiful person. The opening of his solo is so creative without showing much "technical" stuff, pure aesthetic development of teen taal's feeling, interesting and not cliche at all...
The Anindo Chatterjee School of Tabla has a free real Nagma Player for great practice! Google School of Tabla to access it!

The best tabla players can make even simple tunes beautiful. Only chattarjee and Zakhir Hussein can acomplish this (as far as I know).

Perhaps. I don't know. I'm just learning tabla, so I take your word for it. i would like to see any ustaad or pundit play live.

The melody by sitar is so beautiful and never changed.
Like "bass continue" in classical music.
The improvisation from tabla always inspired people.
Very very beautiful!!!!!
Thank you very much~~

Crazy? Genius? Monster? All of these, and more...
I'm almost glad this video ended when it did, as the grin on my face was about to tear my face apart!
I've seen this maniac twice - humbling and overwhelmingly uplifting.
Thanks!
