For a few seconds, twice from 1:25 to 1:38, sounds a little bit like the early argentine Tangos, from the time before the bandoneón replaced the fiddle or the guitar.
A gorgeous piece of music. What a great talent! This sort of goes along with that PBS special I saw today. If I ever see it again I will try to get a copy for you. (If you haven't seen it already.) I think it is interesting that I found this today, just after hearing that speed wasn't the necessary part of ragtime. The timing and syncopation was the most important part of ragtime. Was that special right? I trust you more than PBS and that's saying a lot! Thanks again for more great music.
Great!

Did you mean to transpose it? This is B flat minor or almost A. I kind of like it.

Later redone by Irving Berlin as "Alexander's Ragtime Band" to become a national sensation.

Sounds like this one influenced the Godfather soundtrack.

Treemonisha is usually called a ragtime opera. Only three numbers are rags.
They are the best part of the piece. Joplin wrote another opera, but it
seems to be lost.
I also love Max's recording of Irving Berlin rags.
Thanks for the great post.
