You don't have to own more than one console to see how much the VGAs suck. Only good thing about it are the gaming reveals which I caught up on with the real gaming media. I had better things to do than watch that garbage of an awards show, like playing games.
The VGAs have always been shit. Remember 2004? Madden 2004 won VGA Game of the Year that year. Recently, the VGAs have been a place for some reveals. That said, the only one I was interested in was the next Batman game....that was last year.
On a side note, I think Kratos' style of combat will fit the mortal kombat game. I don't like the Kratos character though or the God of War games really. That style of game just isn't my thing. Camera work is always a letdown in the genre. And the QTEs suck
They'll probably have a fighting game of the year next time now that they know Mortal Kombat and Marvel vs Capcom 3 is coming out... but of course they'll ignore Tatsunoko Vs Capcom...

No offense, but it really seems like you're "nope, its not Nintendo"ing them. RDR, gameplay us a GTA clone, but the story and atmosphere is great. Mass Effect 2 was a pretty badass game. I'd say my favorite would be Resonance of Fate on 360/PS3. Arc Rise Fantasia was good fun as well.
I looked at the nominees and Fallout New Vegas is barely an RPG in my opinion.
