Try mixing in some (very little) Chainmail with Skull White to the skulls and keep your bases Black . Saw that some where red. That's just my suggestion and you could try it out if you want to.

But maybe you wuld like to think to give heroes difrent bases then normal units.

i like the bases. I would have painted them bone, then a gloss/clear red over the top. wipe off the red so that the bone comes through and looks as though the skills are sitting in blood. I think thats the effect you were initially going for?

While I personally prefer the white skull theme for the bases, I think your final decision on the deep red actually turned out quite nicely with the darkish models.

I just hope your movement trays don't hide the work you've done, here.

if you apply a gloss varnish to the base they will look a lot more gorey then they do now, but the paintscheme is awesome! cant w8 to see some battle reps with them

Just started my Dwarfs today....Not going for any fancy bases though, just a high qualitiy paint job.

I love Mirco Art Studio bases though. I field all my infinity minis on their bases.

I am putting together an all-mounted 2000 pt WOC army.

I had the same idea as you painting a mostly-undivided army, but my Chosen will definitely be Tzeentch (Only way to play the Deathstar,and that's all I'm going to use them for lol), and I have a crazy idea for a Nurgle Warshrine!

Also, check out the Chamber of the Everchosen if you haven't already. It's an online community of WOC players with a lot of cool bros. I know you frequent a lot of WH forums, but hell, what's one more?
