My favorite thing in ANY Say Anything songs is when Max and the band repeat the last few words of the song over and over again. It just builds so much tension and is just so fucking epic. Love this band. <3
@WOOYAYHOORAY for sale..it was 5 songs lkng, it had belt, woe, and alive with the glory of love on it, and then it had 2 b side songs, which were this, and slumming it with johnny
It had four songs, and it was exclusively sold on a tour before Is a real boy was released. Two songs, this one and Slumming it with Johnny, were available only on this album, and Belt and Alive with the Glory of Love were later released on Is a real Boy. You can pick up a copy on amazon I'm sure...
boyzconfuseme2011, the song is Total Revenge from the album ...Is A Real Boy. I love Say Anything, they rock and I hope they keep making songs like this and their new ones, they are all amazing
max bemis and thom yorke of radiohead are the most talented, brilliant musicians of our generation. although theyre not quite there yet, i believe they one day will be considered the bob dylan and john lennon of our time. their lyrics, music, and pure creativity simply blow me away at times. max bemis has the most potential of any musician out there, and hes already incredible.
man there songs are so amazing and the end of like are there songs just make it that much better anyone agree......by the way this song should have like millions of more veiws
i kind of understand what you're saying because the older say anything songs are rawer while the new ones are more poppy. his voice is also deeper and more shouty on other cds while its sort of softer on in defense (and i kind of like shouty more)
and what ive always wondered is why their old cds are hard to find. do they not want to rerelease them because they dont like them? because i think they're amazing.
Max pretty much disowned everything written before IARB except for A Walk Through Hell. Though he did say he would eventually play stuff from Baseball.
I used to hear a song of theirs on the radio a long time ago, but I can't remember the name of it, and I can only remember one lyric, "and the moon just burns above". The song was talking about how he was like sitting next to his psychiatrist or something. Do you know what the title of that one is? Cause I can't find it anywhere :[
i think its because when he was recording baseball he was smoking large quantities of weed, and around that time was when he was told he had bi-polar, and i think he doesn't feel like reliving those memories yet
@ratehim As a writer, I dont play my older songs because I feel like ive grown away from them. I live through my songs and if I play the older ones it'd be fake to me because I dont feel that way anymore. Sometimes I adapt it, but mostly never. I feel like Max sees it like that
I believe it is exactly that. He doesn't want to be known for music that doesn't speak to him anymore. He is ready for a new era with new music that speaks to him now.
I heard that Max's life was really screwed up during Baseball and Dormroom demos so he doesn't want to play those songs yet cause they remind him of his past.
despite everything that i just said, i love everything that say anything has done so far and probably everything they ever will do. (i am in love with max bemis)
you probably dont agree with anything i just said, but im glad i had this little chat with you. also, i had to post so many times because everything i wanted to say exceeded the word limit.

He's proud of his old music and loves that people still listen to it, but he considers IARB his first record.

IS he singing with conely from saves the day on this song?? also in slumming it with Johnny?
Theres that annoying high pitched voice at the end that conely uses now, sounds just like the one in this song
fatalbert242424 2 years ago
@fatalbert242424 no, this song was written far before Max was ever signed. This is from when it was only him and Colby doing all the music.

also, junior varsity is more emo (in the earliest sense of the word) while the newest songs are leaning more towards rock and pop.

I don't think he's disowning his older songs, I just think he likes what he's written more recently a lot better.
He's probably just grown bored with the old stuff.

Lol, you think beemdog is just a sensitive little girl dontcha. You don't give him enough credit.
Hes a growing artist, we get bored fast.
And besides, what you're saying about him being afraid of that kind of thing goes completely against his brutally sarcastic attitude.
But then again, we're just fans, we could both be wrong, and shouldn't bother throwing our opinions about someone elses life out on youtube.
A contradiction for a contradiction.
