True , a working handle allows a shorter bow design , but lets take into account that this remains true only with thinner ( in terms of width ) limbed bows . If you make a 50 inch bow with a solid handle , you can saftley leave three inch wide limbs mid-limb , greatly reducing your chance of the shorter bow breaking , spread that tension and compression out over a wider surface area . So I guess you pick and choose how you want it . Great video .
most of the work was done for me with this bow, it had a nice natural curvature when drawn. But I did spend about an hour tillering the belly all the way through the handle just to clear up some minor stiff spots. Cheers
Yes, I was rather surprised with this one actually. I cured the wood by smearing it with butter and sticking it up the chimney for a couple of days and it toughened up nicely without losing any elasticity. It isn't a very efficient design though, since the bracing height is about 9"!

idk my bow has 50 lb drawback its compound tho so hightech compared to oldstyle bows, but it seems to shoot a lot faster than that.. idk

Yea this is from a branch in my backyard. Not too bad, it's lost a bit of casting power tho. Maybe down to about 40lb.
