  • Look at a video like this says only one thing atheism has driven many human beings insane.

  • ALTHOUGH I'M A CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIAN (Baptist), I no longer believe that the Bible teaches eternal torment or suffering. The Bible teaches eternal punishment, but it's not eternal torment. In my popular Internet article, TRADITIONAL DOCTRINE OF HELL EVOLVED FROM GREEK ROOTS, I explain how and why teaching of eternal torment entered early into Christianity and how Scriptures have been misinterpreted and taken out of context to support that teaching. ~Babu G. Ranganathan (B.A. theology/biology)

  • THE SCIENTIFIC CASE AGAINST ATHEISM: Please read this Internet article of mine published in Russia's English Pravda. It will be a real eye-opener for all who think belief in a Creator is merely subjective blind faith. Also read my article, LIFE ON MARS NO SURPRISE (In the Earth's past there was powerful volcanic activity which spewed life-containing dirt and rocks (meteors) into outer space. Mars may literally have millions of tons of Earth soil)

  • THE ODDS of the sequence of molecules in a cell coming together by chance are similar to the odds of magnetic letters randomly bonding together in a sequence to form all the words and sentences in a dictionary. Without the right sequence, a cell's molecules won't work. Amino acids can come by chance but not proteins. Without DNA there can be no proteins and vice versa. Gradually won't do. It's all at once or not at all for a cell's survival. Read my article: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM

  • GENETIC INFORMATION CANNOT HAPPEN BY CHANCE, so it's more logical to believe that genetic similarities between all forms of life are due to a common Designer who designed similar functions for similar purposes. It doesn't mean all forms of life are biologically related! Also, "Junk DNA" isn't junk. These non-coding segments of DNA have recently been found to be vital in regulating gene expression. • Science brought us plains, trains automobiles and skyscrapers.

Religion brought plains and skyscrapers together.

  • What if someone came by and created us out of monkeys? wouldn't that be both evolution and creationism?

  • Yay, even more circular reasoning!

    - We don't see evolution happen.

Just think about it, you have to assume that biological evolution did occur in order to claim anything being evidence for it.

1 - biological evolution did occur. 2 - everything "points" towards evolution (if you make it point to it). 3 - therefore biological evolution did occur.

    - Why are you snipping with your fingers? - To keep the elephants away. - But there aren't any elephants! - Pretty effective, isn't it?

  • We all know that thois is fake how can you compare a human with an animal. We can see that fossils of humans bones were found

are same as ours. Everty one look at a monkey and the look at a man. Are they the same? Can they think like us.

  • I wish there was more of support for Atheists. I deal with depression, and, searching for something to support myself emotionally, I could only find the typical support from this "God." It is rather sad

  • Atheism is the EVIL

  • @Freedom1sOur lol :-D

  • @realkontschi

People who cant see anything they dont believe in ....

so aslong as they havent seen their brain they wont believe there is a brain ahhahaha

let us crsuh their heads that they see their brains maybe they will believe in it.

  • @Freedom1sOur Well, actually, I've never seen any evidence, that for example a creationist uses some kind of logic, so I guess they have no brain... maybe we should really look inside, so we can find at least one evidence. :-D

  • @realkontschi

    ownage ?

    /watch?v=S3I5yGWKkOI

  • @Freedom1sOur A boat is made by men, we don't know yet how the universe came into existence. I'm sorry, but this is a very bad analogy. It seems that you see only answer A and B. A = God created everything, B = the universe just "happened". You think B is false, therefore A must be right. How can you know that? Maybe there is an answer C we haven't found yet. ;-)

    BTW: It's spelled "atheist" ^^

  • @realkontschi

then you have no knowledge of the creation of the evoultion theorie and what the people who brought it forth made some statements and brought proofs..such as..

darwin said : there are just two possible things that had created all ...

    A . Evoultion...

    B. a super inteligent ( God)

there is no C answer and that is the position of every scientist.

    Quote end.

  • @Freedom1sOur Quoting someone famous is not an argument. Maybe solipsism is true, who knows? ;-)

Actually I do have knowledge about evolution, but the "theory" (it's already proven) of evolution has nothing to do with the universe. Well, maybe it has, but actually it just explains how this variety of animals came into existence.

  • @realkontschi

omg nothing is proven in contrast every year 100 things are removed and 100 new thesis are added just to your knowledge i watch it closely. ;)

  • @Freedom1sOur Well, there are things that are more likely to be true, than others... and as long as they don't get disproved by something, that has more evidence to support it, it stays as the "truth". Just like evolution has the most evidence at the moment. If someone comes up with a better theory that is supported by more or better evidence, then I'll believe that.

  • @realkontschi

nope it is the only theorie that is being researched ...because people who think they are superinteligent find other things which already are proven in the quran ...to claim it they have found something...

    /watch?v=vOYpjZywUPA

  • @Freedom1sOur So you also don't believe in gravity?

But I won't discuss about evolution. It's a fact, accept it or don't. If you want to know something about it, go to "talkorigins[dot]org".

Good night, I'll go to bed now. ;-)

  • @realkontschi

the gravity is proofed in the quran .... ;) before your scientist even know anything ...we have knowledge that you havent got yet ....

    watch please this

    /watch?v=E2s14T6x5AM

  • @Freedom1sOur face palm. You claim to have knowledge of something in your holy book after it has been discovered. That's basically trying to interpreting the Koran however you like to fit it. That's fail.

  • @supersmash43

fail is believing that all created itself ....it even doesnt make any sence in maths ...

because 1 is never equal 0 ;) shut up you monkey.

  • @Freedom1sOur well your religion sucks. Your God is nothing so how can anything come out of nothing? Therefore your God is imaginary.

  • @supersmash43

very simple judged ...but have we not learned that life is not simple nor that exist is simple...it is just the fact you cant accept ... it is just the fact that you are a son of a dog not of a monkey lOOL or even both hahaha a mix up of them.

  • @Freedom1sOur Muslims cause me to face palm.

  • @Freedom1sOur As far as i know, muslims must not insult the others.

  • @Freedom1sOur

"it is just the fact you cant accept"

No, it's the fact that YOU cannot accept the scientific evidence which pesents a challange to the rib story.

"you are a son of a dog not of a monkey"

There is a saying that dog is mans best friend. But anyway, you probably look at dogs in a lowly manner. Dogs have something that Muslims have lost. It's called empathy, your religion has killed the part of the brain which allows you to empathise for others instead of thinking for self only.

  • @Freedom1sOur I actually read the quran and it wasn't very convincing. It's the same with the bible, you can interpret it in so many different ways... but it still doesn't say: "Hey, 'this and that' is gravity, because of 'those things' and it affects 'blabla' in that certain way."

I never read something like that in the quran.

It's really surprising, that you guys claim that the quran knew something before, but still you can't really understand and explain why it works the way it does. ^^

  • @realkontschi gravity is a scientific word invented by humans. I also read the quran, it contains no scientific word simply because it is not a book of science.

  • @smael5 ...and still muslims take those words as scientific claims to prove that the quran is true... doesn't really make sense to me. Either the book explains something, which can be taken as an evidence for it to be the word of god, or it is just a collection of BS.

  • @realkontschi Yes, because science is the language of this time. If you check the scientific miracles in the quran, you will find many. I remember a great one which shows that the child sex is determined by his father and not by his mother. This has been showed 1400 years ago at the time when science was still poor.

  • You are either ignorant or insane if you don't believe in evolution. Most in the USA are ignorant, WILLFULLY ignorant, of the facts pertaining to evolution. A minority are classically insane, thinking to understand evolution is to condemn yourself to an eternity in hell-fire. They are in the mildest terms, dillusional beyond comprehension. Sad, so very sad.

  • ¡Maravilloso! Estoy esperando la versión al Español de "The Greatest Show on Earth"

  • 0:53 cool counter strike

  • Can someone tell me how to get the book beyond good and evil from M. Schimdt?

  • import it from germany xD you can speak german?

  • @PullThePlugOnFaith He stole the title xD That book was written by Friedrich Nietzche...apparently the case still needs to be made, that moralistic thinking has only created hypocrisy, corruption, tyranny and oppression. And those who dispute the statement made by Dawkins should read his books, and the Origin of the Species, as well as a high school biology textbook. Hell, go to wikipedia for a couple hours. Actually learn evolution before rejecting it.

  • @PullThePlugOnFaith

Well, if you look it up, you'll find its a book from Friedrich Nietzsche, i guess M. Schimdt rewrote it.

The title in english is "Beyond Good and Evil", and there is a wikipedia artikle aboud it in english, so i bet you can find somewere in the filosofy section.

  • True Atheists don't believe in vestigial terms or empty concepts like "good and evil," and oppression is always the result of ignorance in society, not religious or philosophical beliefs.

We don't think religion is bad, we think people are too irresponsible to reasonably handle faith and reality simultaneously. You can worship your Gods without involving yourselves in abortion debates, gay marriages, blowing up Muslims or molesting choir boys, but your'e too busy being egotistical.

  • *.... not JUST religious or philosophical...."

  • @WHollabaugh

so you invented atheism, that youre able to speak for all of them?

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA

How could I have invented something that's been here since time itself?

I'm no longer an atheist, but what I meant when I made that comment was that without dogma to influence your thinking, you learn to understand that there is no black vs white, or "good vs evil." If you still cling to these concepts then your not free of dogmatic thinking and thus not really an atheist.

People make bad decisions but that doesn't make them bad people. That's all I as trying to say.

  • @WHollabaugh

    what are you then

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA

I'm just another person, man. Why should my faith matter?

  • @WHollabaugh

who said it should or does? im simply asking

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA

I'm both an atheist and a Christian at the same time.

I don't believe in Jehovah, I refuse to peruse any knowledge of god and I find most of the old testament to be insulting in that it describes such a pathetic excuse for god, but I do believe that god exists on a level we'll never understand and I believe that Jesus was something like his son.

That's just me though, to each their own.

  • @WHollabaugh

by definition (atheist) you cant be an atheist and a religious person at the same time.

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA

Did I say I was religious?

There is no discrepancy here. I don't waste m time trying to understand God because no one can. I refuse to believe a word of scripture because God cannot be reduced down to words and thus the only way to be anything like respectful of god is to is to be an atheist about it.

That doesn't mean Jesus didn't exist, he may very well have been the son of god and believing that he existed makes me no less an atheist.

  • @WHollabaugh

'Did I say I was religious?'

'I'm both an atheist and a Christian at the same time.'

yeah you did. and again by definition....forget it

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA

There's nothing non-atheist about believing in Jesus and that he was a great man worthy to this day of our love.

That's what makes me a Christian, I believe in Jesus Christ and I believe he did die with the intention of freeing us from sin itself. I don't believe in God though.

Not because I don't think he exists, he may, but I believe that God wishes to remain anonymous. Thus the best way to honor God is to be an Atheist.

But that's just my view, to each their own.

  • You are a complete moron. In what sense does 'new atheism' consist of "this is right, believe this, and all others who challenge these basic principles are evil."?

  • "new-atheism is just..."

The same as "old" atheism, without a belief in deities.

    "evil and oppressive as..."

Atheists are people who do not hold a belief in god, that is the only commonality between atheists.

  • your title well said. we are entering a post-christian era

  • I didn't know Germany had a top atheist, I just knew that Michael Schmidt-Salomon wrote secular books for children. I think I'll get a copy of the book you presented. Thanks a lot!

  • It's not a double standard if there's plenty of evidence for one theory, and zip, nada, nothin' for the other pseudo-hypothesis.Trying to get a creationist to look at the facts is like trying to administer medicine to a corpse.

  • 2:14 is important. Listen to the vast majority of evolution "skeptics" and marvel at the utter butchering of the topic, concept, its claims, and its proof. When we consider that some people believe evolution means "the world came from nothing" or that "we came from monkeys/rocks/etc" or that evolution's validity relies on the discovery of a crocoduck...if we consider that, it's not hard to see why people don't believe. It's also hard to understand why they maintain such ignorance.

  • I've heard that atheism is on the rise but I doubt it.

But it is a shame that some people believe the earth is only 6-10,000 years old. I'm actually getting Dawkins book sometime this month or next to see if it's as good as some people make it out to be.

  • It's pretty good, but if you want something a bit more philosophical and interesting check out Christopher Hitchens' God is not great

  • I read that right after I read the God Delusion.

  • Yeah he is a bit long winded. I had to read parts of his book Ancestor's tale for my evolution class.

  • Did you assert in that class that you believe the theory to be invalid?

  • Actually I didn't because at that time I considered myself to be a theistic evolutionist.

  • Dawkins' work is not the most enjoyable reading material for folks who are already convinced that evolution occurs. However, many of the redundant examples and scientifically pointless tangents he brings up are necessary to head off the infantile arguments pushed by creationists who generally lack an understanding of biology or science generally. Their endless stream of unsubstantiated straw men and misunderstood concepts, in spite of being unadulterated chaff, is tedious to counter.

  • Well put.....point taken.

  • who is behind your brainwashing though?the ones who taught you the alphabates in the nursery school dont beleive in what you beleive

  • There is one crisis though.humans are still humans the shit is still inside of them no matter how much they keep vomitting out. They can have sand from the desert to make glass but they belly is still of full of dirt.Have some wisdom please!or call your grandad and tell him since when you were dropped as a rock from space.

  • Thanks for the vid.

  • life sucks!!! the whole idea of the creation is silly

  • "How do we know evolution is a fact ?" To begin with there is a scientific theory, which is uported by evidence, that models it.

  • i know that you are correct, but good luck convincing the loonie masses of the usa. they will continue to believe whatever their masters tell them to believe, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

  • if your atheist your atheist. If your Christian then your Christian. People dont need to bother themselves with others religion.

  • ...except when other people's religion influences legislation that effects you directly.

And it is "you're." Your denotes possession.

  • atheism is not a religion

  • well, that depends, some creationists teach pseudoscience to others, which is a crime in my opinion. those people should be confronted on there religious beliefs.

  • It is the stupid religious people who create the myth that there is somehow something wrong with pleasure and recreational sex. This is false. Fear of human sexuality and expression is the worse form of sexual perversion. There is no good rape and bad rape, all rape is the same. There are no good victims and bad victims, all victims are the same. There is no good consensual sex and bad consensual sex. All consensual sex is the same. Any who say otherwise are telling a lie.

  • "There is no good consensual sex and bad consensual sex. All consensual sex is the same. Any who say otherwise are telling a lie."

Clearly you've never met my ex-wife...

  • The US has been co opted by right wing religious wing nuts, dangerous warmongering profiteers more interested in money than life.

Keep your gods in your heart said Mom, I tire of priests with one hand in the collection plate, and the other up an alter boys pants. What we'd expect after century's of sifting the mentally ill for the voluntarily celebate running our churches? An abundance of child abusers and troubled homosexuals is what.

    Cavemen shrinking from thunder.

    Disgusting.

  • Amonst the mugshots of mass murderers, why didn't they include Rachel Carson?

  • "Those people" don't care about evidence, unless it seems to confirm what ever preacher says.

  • Can't wait to buy this book! RD is awesome.

  • LOL Empire Total War at 0:49

  • He is wrong about two things.

    1. We CAN see evolution. (and we have)

    2. And not EVERY thing is EXACTLY as we would expect if evolution were true. Some thing as complex as life doesn't follow just one theory.

  • Comment removed

  • I just bought this book today and looking forward to reading it, everything this man has to say is worth listening to. I can't believe the amount of people in the U.S that don't believe in evolution its scary they really are stupid arrogant idiots

  • Questions for Greig1424; What is so "scary" if many do not believe in evolution? Many biologists admit that TOE doesn't change what they do. They would still be studying the very same things they are now without it.. And labeling those that disagree as "stupid arrogant idiots" hardly helps the cause. If there is a single binding principle in the New Atheist Movement, it is cleary hate. Where does this hate come from? I can't believe you where ALL molested by priest.

  • First thing children who were molested off priests usually go on to become heroin addicts not atheists. It strikes me as very ironic that without religion there would be no priests therefore no world wide peadophile ring hiding behind a man made entity called God. Also there is no hate in atheism only a view that all life is beautiful and that people are all equal. It would seem to me that the binding principle of religion is hate, fear, embarrasment and guilt.

  • I Do Not believe in a god or gods.

But to say morals are wrong? Woah... That is some funky juice you are drinking.

Obviously I have not read the first book advertised, and it might just be a language translation problem. But to state we would be better without morals - can someone please explain what that means?

  • I hate living in a time when people still have to be "convinced" of something that's entirely academically factual.

  • @DarkMatter2525 remember the fear of death makes fictional teachings more palatable to the ignorant masses

  • Really nice video quality. Such a rarity on youtube.

  • i am buying this book tomorrow

  • Blue footed booby! Yay!

  • II'm buying that book right away..

By the way take a look what's going on I'm my country Costa Rica right now:

San Jose (Editor). 16 representatives of various fractions expressed this afternoon his strong opposition to constitutional reform submitted last week to remove the word "God" of the constitutional oath.

I just have something to say:

    lol

    Humanity is evolving =)

  • Maybe the letters to Corinth put it best: "When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like a child, and reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up my childish ways."

It would be a fantastic irony if those two sentences from the bible were adopted by folks who believe in the divinity of the bible.

  • I wish Dawkins would move to the U.S.

  • I think all scientists and educated humans alike must agree that all of us are capable of both great good AND great evil.

I think that God Or Satan or any other divine or unholy entity is merely a manifestation of a human persons consciousness and imagination of a vauge idea on what Good or Evil may or may not represent and or look like.

We base these entities on human desire for greater good or greater evil. Real? Fallacy? Who knows? But religion should never rule predominant thought.

  • At last the thinkers are speaking out loud and it is muffling the morons of superstitition. Time to put away such childish things. Keep the rationale alive and humanbeings may survive past this century.

  • Good video. Hopefully overturning superstition and religion will help us understand that the only label we need is "human being".

  • Amen. ;)

  • only a moron would disbelieve evolution

  • wow ofcourse there is evolution, but that doesnt affect anyhow the existance of good and evil, and one had to be very shallow minded to deny god through evolution... and i'm not thinking of the old wise man sitting in the clouds...

  • Faith

2 a (1) : belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2) : belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust

    They're practically synonyms.

  • "Good" and "evil" do not exist as absolutes.

  • Superstition

1 a : a belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation b : an irrational abject attitude of mind toward the supernatural, nature, or God resulting from superstition

2 : a notion maintained despite evidence to the contrary

  • Well, other than him being exactly right, there is a little thing called the freedom of speech.

  • Can you get an English translation of that book?

  • It's nice to watch a reasonable video!!! I sooo sick of coming across religious ones claiming that God healed this person or that!!! This is soooo refreshing!!

  • michael schmidt-salomon has written a new book?! Why haven't I heard of it?! Yeah, it's about Nietzsche, right?! Running to the bookstore - that's the fist thing I'm gonna do tomorrow morning!

  • I like to argue with Christians on their own playing ground. The ten commandments clearly state that "You shall have no other gods before me" and yet everyone worships Jesus. They also say "no idols" yet Christians use the crucifix and many Christians are sure they know what Jesus looked like.

The overwhelming majority of the evidence in their own bible clearly describes the Antichrist as Jesus himself. Horus was the real Messiah and Jesus was actually Satan pretending to be the messiah. lol

  • Jenseits von Gut und Bose? Hey, that's the subtitle for Xenosaga 2!

  • I don´t think we are better without morals. The problem is not the moral per se, but what kind of moral there is. I think there are positive kinds of morals. The new atheism is running a blind crusade against religions. It´s a pay back. As atheists we shouldn´t imitate religion´s bigotry. We shouldn´t imitate anything at all.

  • 1/2 of the USA is stupid. lol

  • Atheism isn't about rejecting morals or claiming we don't have them it explains how we got them and why you can derive them on your own without the need for a sky-daddy.

Evolution explains why we are social creatures and why we have empathy but mostly just with people we see and know.

  • Schmidt-Salomon is probably the best critique of religion and stupidity in general Germany has to offer at the moment. If you can, get your hands on his "Manifest of evolutionary Humanism", it's well worth reading.

  • I dont think that "new atheist" is a fitting term. Afterall it's not only about religion or belief in gods. It's about promoting critical thinking and debuking false claims through logic, reason and evidence. I think something on the nuances of "active skeptic" would be a more appropriate term.

  • O the times they are a changin'

We must expect strong reaction to what we believe; atheism, humanism, truth - these are not welcomed by those who seek to unreasonably control their fellow human beings.

Freedom is never easily won; win, ultimately, we will - - - but it will cost us dear.

  • I'm re-reading The Blind Watchmaker, but I need to go to the bookshop again!

As for morality and the way religious zealots whine about it:

"After Tao was lost, then came the 'power'; After the 'power' was lost, then came human kindness; After human kindness was lost, then came morality; After morality was lost, then came ritual. Now ritual is the mere husk of loyalty and promise-keeping."

TTC38, The Old Boy. Trans Arthur Whaley

Religious "morality" is a load of artificial nonsense.

  • Awesome screen name. Its funny seeing all the people with names like der8713ty. Boney Skylord, that is a keeper.

  • This is our century, Atheists. Don't fuck it up. This is our chance to get ahead - and we are so far. It's the beginning of the end for religion if we keep going at this rate.

  • Paha you can't be serious TheStig000? Atheists are up against a whole world of superstition - the only place to really put a stop to religious indoctrination is by stopping it in the classroom and making it taboo to preach to your children - sadly it looks more and more unlikely.

But we shouldn't give up, you are right about that!

  • We're one of the fastest growing minorities out there. We have to use this momentum to our advantage. Live it one day at a time.

  • Yes, I agree. It is our time and methinks critical thinkers will make this world a better plece. Imagion....

  • Agreeing with evolution doesn't mean one has to be an atheist. I know religious folks of various religions, who believe in evolution and are still believing in their god views too. My biology and genetics professor in college is such a person, for example.

So religious folks shouldn't be so threatened, as they can still believe in their god and evolution at same time. They just can't take biblical Genesis as a textbook. LOL!

  • 40% of Americans don't "believe in" evolution. Wow. How can the richest nation on the planet also be amongst the most stupid? Where do they spend all their money? Obviously not on education!

  • Well a large proportion voted for George Bush - says everything.

That and half of the idiots are opposing health reform when it will actually benefit the whole country.

  • Greed and fantasy is the American time bomb

  • lol excellent quote

  • I wouldn't call America the richest nation in the world when we have a national dept in the trillions and owe if I am not mistaken china trillions of of dollars. lol The real edcuation is learning we are not a rich nation, but a nation built on debt.

  • When he say evolution, it sounds like he say "evilution".lol

  • The English always pronounce evolution as eve-olution not ev-olution

  • i don't and I'm english actually i don't no any who does.

  • Well, there's always little accents and stuff. I've heard a lot of people who pronounce it both ways. Americans tend to pronounce it "ev-olution" though.

  • well idd get Richard dawkins new book for sure!

  • There's something I've always wondered, and I think I can ask it here. Ok, so I think everyone here would agree that religion is simply a psychological coping mechanism. It's purpose is to give strength and hope to an individual to promote their survival. So then, if religion's purpose is to HELP, then why do some people have conflicting beliefs? For example, if one believes in the concept of heaven, why then would they also believe in some circumstance that bars them from ever entering it??

  • its a popularty contest.for the church, its more money from whoever is reconverted.

  • Here's the main example I wonder about. If one chooses to believe in heaven, then typically they'll believe that living a good/clean/honest life, filled with hard work and sacrifice, will ultimately be rewarded with entrance into a blissful, eternal afterlife. It's a belief that gives you hope and perseverance in order to get you through this hard life. However, some gays who believe in heaven ALSO choose to believe that being gay bars them from ever being allowed in!

  • I mean honestly, why believe in something amazing like heaven, only to ALSO believe that you'll never be allowed in?? And furthermore, why believe in the concept of hell if you also believe you're going there? It makes no sense! That's not helping you or giving you hope, it's doing the exact opposite - stressing you out and demoralizing you.

  • What a great mystery of the human mind. Dan Dennet postulates that the fear of death is also incorporated in this coping system. And still the moral unrest committed by religious advocates is surprisingly high. With such a stiff penalty one would think the believer would heed the religious warning. Yet most (not all) followers "cherry pick" the parts of religious dogma's in which they participate. Basically religion is a repressive system of humanity.
