my cat, from the beginning, hated being held. i can just see my cat hissing and biting me when i try to get her on her back to clip her nails. she just doesn't like being handeld, even by me! we've been together for 6 going on 7 years. she lets me touch her paws all the time, but she hates being held. is there anything u might suggest to help?
@TigersUnleashed I have no clue about the colors... thats a good question for a breeder of cats that is good with genetics!
As far as nail clipping, will she sit on your lap, or close to you? You can prop one paw at a time on your lap and clip that way. I prefer my cat being upside down but I started him that was as a kitten so he is used to it.
@zumie05 alright cool thx. she loves to rest her head on my lap, but she loves to nap next to me. we've never clipped her nails, and she neads our couch all the time, and her claws get stuck in the couch. she starts spazing and flipping out cuz she doesnt' know why her claws aren't reaction when she's trying to do so. its halarious! she's such a klutz. ahh.... but i love her!
i have a question. my cat is a brown tabby female with one splotch of orange on her belly. just one random spot of orange. and little spots of orange on the back of her ears, too. could that wierd coloring be because her mom was a calico or something and her dad was a brown tabby?
@ryanri123 yes it would be really nice and work great, but you would want to make sure you part the hair and brush from the under layer of hair otherwise you might not get as much hair out. Also check out grooming rakes. Those are awesome for dogs with very thick coats, like Collies!
Wow, You did a great job explaining your tools, how to etc...you are calm, and right to the point. So glad you didn't have music playing in the background. I wish my pets would be calm with any grooming as yours are. I adopted mine, they are older and not use to any of this.
@raxxie The zoom groom alone will be fine. That is a gentle brush that takes off loose hair. The furminator is a hefty tool if you have a pet with seriously thick hair and you need extra help. I personally love the furminator, but I don't think it is a "necessary" tool for everyone to have that has a pet.
tis really helped :) im getting a ragdoll soon and i now know how to home groom :) thank you!
