Cochlear Implants are NOT glory to GOD. Cuz Cochlear Implants are made by men not God. God created Deaf period because Deaf is glory to GOD! All deaf people need to learn ASL, regardless of an implant, otherwise you'll miss out on the community. I wish it were an elective in most schools for hearing people to learn as well. If you're deaf and you can get a cochlear, get one,

but you'll always be a part of the deaf community. Being deaf doesn't make a person handicapped as much as other disabilities. Being deaf has it's good sides, It brings a person into a kinship with others unlike most other disabilities.

@cindyljoan Im not sure if you hearing or not. But there's big controversy about the CI in the Deaf Community. There's not only one passage way, getting a CI and not only Signing. I sign and have a big Deaf Family but also apart of the hearing world also.There is something called TC,Total Communication and that is speach and signing, becoming more poplar. The phrase All deaf people need to learn ASL is a lot true. Some people its very hard to sign by there learning wys and others hard to speak.

He had to make the choice to get 1) drills into HIS head, make himself a cyborg... I've had it since I was a kid and I hated it since but I was forced to wear them to 'belong' in the family. I am not one of those in the deaf community who supports C.I. when it's by choice, I am AGAINST C.I. as a whole. I wish it was never invented!

ASL is a beautiful and amazing language yes its a language there is grammer and rules just like any other. search ASL poetry. Getting a CI later in life is so difficult cuz you have to teach yourself sounds just like a baby learns

It is more of the 'why is it necessary' because deaf people have been living (albeit a few struggles) fine without it and now it seems CI is a 'must have' for deaf people wishing to join the hearing majority. The deaf believes there is a way to do that without getting a CI.

I have cochlear implants and I use asl and english. It's not dangerous if u hit ur head. I fall a lot from skateboarding or anything and hit my head and yet nothin is wrong. ur just like the baxter school for the deaf ppl.
