  • How do you have this video in widescreen?

  • I have this exact camera. Can you use DoF on it? I know its not a camcorder but, I really want to know if you can do it with this camera?

  • @DynasticProductionz No you cannot, but however if you have adobe premiere pro cs2 or higher im sure you could alter the frames to add a DoF effect

  • The video is fine if you overdub the sound (picks up zoom servo motor) The main problem is it really uses up batteries! So have plenty with you!!

  • @itsmepaul57 Mine i find is GREAT on batteries, i get about 800 pictures out of a set of lithium and a decent amount of screen time...

You might just be using cheap batteries

  • i went to buy this camera and the guy at target was like i dont recomend it.

i htink it seems great and i really want it.

do you recommend it to someone who takes videos of them riding thier horses and just thier horses almost everday? and videos of like friends and stuff, do you think this camera would work well for whhat i want it for?

how is it in low lighting &&indoors?

    THANKS!

  • @trissBarrelRacingINC Well.. it is a great camera.. the video feature is lacking...but still great... they guy at target was probably attempting to get you to purchase a more expensive one or one with a higher retail markup.

If you just want something for video...this is a picture taking camera not a amazing video camera...buy a VIDEO CAMERA

But on the other hand this thing takes amazing pictures if you know your way around a camera

  • @bennyglaze haha, actually he was trying to get me to but a camera 50$ cheaper!

I also take pictures, wich is the reoson why I want a camera that has a decent video.

I was foooling around with this camera at the store, and i really liked the pictures and

video. I was just asking your opinion :)

hows the lighting inside and in the dark?

  • @trissBarrelRacingINC 1500 is your best choice, trust me!the flash is pretty good inside, but its not very good in the dark, the price you see..:)

  • @trissBarrelRacingINC The lighting is great.... if you know your way around the more advanced camera features. the flash works amazing for up to about 20-30 feet.

  • @bennyglaze Okay, awesome! :) Sorry to bother you b: But I just have ONE more question! How is the picture and video on capturing fast speeds, like running and stuff like that.

  • @trissBarrelRacingINC capturing at fast speeds mainly depends on how much ambient light your area has and what shutter speed you have selected(higher the better) but remember the higher you go the brighter the area you are taking a picture of has to be...

  • how long can you record videos on this

  • I know if can go until the file size reaches 2gb, which is around 48 minutes depending on movement and color or area being recorded

  • great video, just purchased a S1500 was wondering what splicing program you use, as with my previous camera, Kodak ZD710, it came with one in the Kodak EasyShare software.

  • I use Power Director v7 by Cyber Link

  • Thankyou for that I will give it a go.

Also what do you think of the chrome setting?

  • well as for the chrome setting, i dont really find it does much to the picture, i was kind of hoping it would widen the spectrum more them it does, but its good.... great to get more vivid sunset pictures!

    Cheers, Ben

  • Hey Bennyglaze that's helped me out a lot thanks for that!

    : )

  • No Problem!!

  • Hey,

I'm seriously considering on buying this camera, I'm going to Thailand and want to take a lot of pictures my main query is the battery life, what have people found it to be like?

Plus I don't know much about the memory cards what's the best one, whereby I can hold the most images?

    Cheers : )

  • Personally this camera has the best battery life out of any camera i have purchased! it is great i recently visited australia and took about 800 pictures and only had to change the batteries(energizer e squared titanium) near the end of the 800, i do a lot of on camera viewing and deleting also, so i am guessing you could get about 2000 pictures out of the lithium batteries, if you use the view finder and a computer to do all of you viewing and deleting!

  • as for the memory card i would suggest you get a 8 GBHC you will be able to hold more then enough on that, plus i normally have it set on 9MP at 3:2, so i get about 1600 pictures on a 2GB sd card

  • I have just purchased an S1500, battery life I have found very good. What do you think of the chrome colour setting, I find sometimes seems spot on other times over done.

  • it's a great camera and it's cheap too

  • I have an S1500 and think it's an incredible camera for the price. Though technically not a true DSLR it offers most of the same features that you would pay pay at least 3X more in another camera. The video quality is good and it does make a lot of noise when zooming, but so what? Most people overuse the zoom anyway (it's annoying and ruins the video!). Use video editing software to clean up the noise.. Like Fatback said...if you are looking to primarily shoot videos, then buy a video camera.

  • Oh by the way very nice video!

  • I have done a ton of research on this camera. It is by far the best camera for the price.

Also to people that expect a digital camera to shoot amazing video minds well forget it. These cameras are made for pictures, they only throw in the video mode to pull you in even further. If you want a video camera then buy a video camera otherwise don't expect much from a digital camera the records video.

  • Actually, if you can get a very good DSLR like the Canon EOS 7D that does excellent 1080p HD video as well as take outstanding quality pictures. The microphone sucks but you can attach an external mic if you need it.

  • only problem is the canon EOS 7D is like 10 times more then this fuji is, and for the price range of this camera you would be looking for like a Canon Rebel XS at most considering that camera is double the price of this one and this takes just as good pics if not better, only let down is no changeable lens. (i own both)

  • I understand your point. It's funny that you mention the Rebel XS because that it what I have as well. My wife is getting the Fuji S1500 for Christmas this year as a suprise from me. She told me earlier that she didn't want a 'complicated' camera like mine.

For the price of the S1500 I think this video is pretty decent. I hear the horrible wind noise but wonder if placing a small amount of foam in front of the mic might help a bit. Guess we'll see soon.

  • Nice, both are great, but considering the easy of use of the S1500 i like it better, i can get the setting to what i want faster then with the rebel xs, Rebel XS's arent the complicated either, imagine if you got her a nikon dslr with 10 different lenses

  • Yeah I just meant people who buy a $200 camera and expect it to record awesome video. Now if I pay $1700 for a camera like the 7D then of course I would expect it to record 1080P.

lol I am getting a rebel XS soon so I find it even funnier that you both have it.

  • i actually never even read the original comment, but i just did and i pretty much stated exactly what you did in a comment on one of my other test videos :) rebel xs is great by the way, i have broken mine twice but was easily fixed at henerys(not from poor construction) i tend to take cameras where they shouldnt go (4 wheeling in the woods and hockey :P)

  • Yea, video cameras work differently from still cameras which is why video on most still cameras just doesn't work good.

I was going to go ahead and get the S1500 but I decided to wait to after Christmas and get the XS. I have tested it at a couple of places and it's a great camera. I think it will be worth the short wait.

  • Thanks, I was thinking in buying one of this camerar, but I've gotta say that sound is awful, Not buying now. greetings

  • remember that sound is not recorded in pictures, this camera i am assuming was only made to be a good picture camera, with a few extra features thrown in... seeing as they obviously didnt take time to develop the video mode well

  • I just returned one of these....the video sound is unacceptable.....otherwise a great camera:)

  • can i add an extra lens to this camera ?

  • no, but the lens on there is very very good, it can do everything from extremely close macros, to getting high clarity at great distances, you will get used to it after awhile of fidgeting with all the setting on the camera

  • Is the HD actually HD?

    :)

It's a shame about the zoom sound. :(

Im really hoping to get this camera for my birthday :D

  • No it is not, the actual picture is 480p i just exported it in 720p so you can see the actually quality, because here on youtube the 480p videos quality tends to get downgraded somewheres along the line of uploading it

  • Oh okay :)

    Thankyou for replying. :D

  • No Problem ;)

  • I had heard the camera would pick up the zoom engine sound and I thought maybe it wasn't as bad as they said it was, but it sure is... The video quality is great, but the sound really is a con...

    :(

  • yes the zoom noise is horrible.... that is the only thing i dislike about this camera:(

  • Noob question but does this camera come with like a strap to put around your neck? I really think this camera looks amazing and I am getting 50 bucks tomorrow which will make my total amount of money 250 bucks so I am pretty much determined on getting this camera. Thanks for the video tests!

  • yes it does, i love the camera, it is great, it has so many great features!

  • Wooho! Thank you so much for the video's. I am gonna get this camera very soon.
