Any sub no matter how much you spend will blow if under powered. This sub is clearly under powered that sub should be a blurr on a Iphone.I have 2 122x's on a kicker zx1500.1 that broke my back window.Spend the money on a better amp and see what a power acoustic mofo152x will really do,or just have someone give you the money for a cheap system and keep replacing you subs LOL
@420JimmyJ underpowering a subwoofer with clean power will not blow ur sub.. underpowering an having ur amp clipping that will blow ur sub skyhigh just saying
I personally like the power acoustik amps for there looks and ability to not overheat easily.. But the gothic series 3000 you have only puts out bout 900 at 4 ohms and 1700 at 1 so that is so power hungry.. I've got 3 15" mofo's and they can easily handle 1700rms cause I had 2 5500 gothics on em which really was 4800rms which gave em 1600 a piece and they flexed great and never over heated they can take a pounding so FEED THE BEAST!!! Cause that should be killin'
i love how all these people actually think this stuff is good LMAO! and a 3,000watt amp thats some funny shit right there you wanna a real mans 3,000watt amp look up a sundown 3000d
@DragonWagon6 I could put 2 cheap 80$ power acoustiks in a wicked box, on this power, and beat anything you have. Cheap shitsometimes is the way to go. I have audioque which is expensive but its because its my hobby, im building my gf a budjet system that wont exceed 600$ from subs, box build, deck, speakers, wire everything, thats gunna tear her van apart. Dont hate bro, its all in the box and the installer.
@MikeNJess3409 dude check out the video i uploaded on my channel i drive ford f150 extended cab and i have one 15" dual 2 ohm mofo with a 3000 watt demons series amp
Nice setup........Power acoustik mofos' are decent subs, but id take that sub out and put in a fully loaded fi btl 15 n2 or an n3 and a new amp. Nothing personal againest Steve meade, but im not trying too sound like a steve meade nuthugger by mentioning FI BTLS, his nuts have too be hanging down to his knees by now with all these people hanging on his nuts.
nice mann.... i just got 2 pk 12s from em and damm they hit!! their a new model from pk.. check out my vidss!!.. people say pk sucks but its all about the setup to make them sound good!.. for da price their pretty good!!
@93DARIAN it just depends man bc with 2 12s your making more air but it just depends on what kind of 12s or 15 you have or getting but if you get a 15 its gonna hit lows better but it all just matters on what you have i hope i helped out some
You'd get a lot better (Louder) sound out of it, if you pointed the sub and port UPWARDS since its in a hatchback. Gives it a horn effect and naturally will amplify the sound. :)
im sick of people saying underpowering is a bad thing and can damage it, how do you figure?? one, its not possible. two nobody ever says the theory behind damaging by underpowering, they just state its bad, and i guess my 1 10 and 3 12s and my 15 inch mofo are all acceptions to the rule. when you stretch, do you lift both your legs above your head the first time? or do you have to warm yourself into it? why have a break in period where bass is turned down?? hmm idk i guess its all a mystery!
The biggest killer of subwoofers is distortion. You can make a crappy subwoofer sound good with a great amp or make a great subwoofer sound like crap with a crappy amp. You will easily blow a 3000rms subwoofer with an underpowered 300w amp. Most all amps will not do advertised rms. Not even the best amps will do advertised rms. Reason being is you get about 15-20% power loss through your power source.
So when you get power loss through your electrical system you lose rms and gain distortion and the amplifier becomes unstable. You put a 300w amp on a sub that can handle 3000rms. People tend to put the gains all the way up because it makes it louder. Increasing your gains increase distortion. Now with the loss of power through electrical system your amp is already unstable which increases distortion.
Most subwoofers need a minimum power amount to be efficient. You take your underpowered amp with your gains all the way up plus power loss and increased distortion can toast any good subwoofer. The subwoofer will most likely be fine if volume stays in the amplifiers stable power range but it wont be loud. ANY decent car audio installer knows that distortion kills subs and underpowering a subwoofer causes distortion.
When looking at a subwoofer and amplifier it is best to have a amplifier that is bigger than the recommended rms of the subwoofer. You have a 1500rms subwoofer. Now add 20% to the amplifiers rms rating. You would need about 1800rms amplifier to power your subwoofer efficiently with minimal distortion. If you do have an amp smaller than recommended rms of the subwoofer you need to make sure your gains are set really good to decrease distortion at the upper volume.
@kjsmolik Also remember that the lower you go on your ohms the more distortion your amp will put out. 4ohm is the sweet spot for clearity. You go down to 2 ohms you still get clarity and also power increase but then you start to introduce distortion. Now you have your 300w amp that is 1 ohm stable pushing your 3000w sub. 300w amp - power loss through electrical - lower ohms= lots of distortion. So the more distortion you have the quicker you will kill your subwoofer.
@kjsmolik okay so i have one question, i have this exact sub with a 5k watt amp. and its not hitting the lows like it used to with my old amp (760 watt) which is really REALLY weird. but as far as theDVC goes, i have the positives wired and the negatives wired together, i got confused by my local sound dealer. does this make the sub resist more? or if i flip the negative and positive on one terminal will it hit harder? since this sub is rated for 2ohm performance?
Do you have dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm sub? You want to wire it in parallel which it sounds like you have it at. Wiring in parallel lowers your resistance. Lowering resistance gets more power from amp
@kjsmolik i have it wired positive from the amp to the terminal, then wired to the other positive between the terminals, and same for the negatives. and i thought i had it wired right, in parallel, but it doesnt hit my lows which sucks.. its wired right but with like 18 gauge speaker wire from the amp to sub, which seems a bit small for a 5000 watt. but even so, the cone center gets hot after pushing it for awhile.
@fightingisfortheweak It sounds like you have it wired right. What amp do you have? What is your crossover set at? Where are your gains and sensitivity?
@fightingisfortheweak You Want to run it in Series That's Pos to Pos and Neg to Neg and than you can Bridge at your Amp than you will get your Max amount of Wattage from that Sub at 2 Ohms. You need to make sure you have like a mono Block amp too. If it's a Mosfet Amp than it's only going to get 2500 Watt's at a max. Also you need to have double 0 Guage wire and at least 2 Batteries or a 5 Fer Cap or higher to supply enough juice to Your Amp. Have fun
@SuperGlitch23 yeah its a 5000 watt mono, its ran pos to pos neg to neg between the coils, but i showed the local dealer the setup with wires and he said it would be safe to upgrade to a 4 gauge, because i know this amp will only run about 3000 watts MAX with the second battery and all that. but he said its safe to run a 4 gauge and i wont need more. but thats the only difference is the upgraded amp and the thing cant hit lows for shit...
nice vid and nice system too sounds good but is way underpowered trust me i have two of them in mt gti and have a power acoustik bamf 5500 watt on it and i could still use a bit more power dont be afraid to have two of them they arent that bad :) check out some of my videos and let me know what you think
@th3adhdk1d that amp is peak 5500, RMS is the only real rating. The only way your getting even 3200 rms out of that amp is if you have that sub in a dual 2 ohm voicecoil wired parallel. If its a single 4 ohm your only getting
1700 watts. And sorry buddy you push 5500 into that sub and its toast end of story
@jeffreyjschwab sorry i havent been on here in a while my computer crapped out on me and had to get a new one the bamf 5500 is actually underrated because if you look at the specs of the amp the 3200 rms is rated at 16v which is wrong if you put it on a volt meter it rates at 14.4v constant which is what it should be at and i had my two mofos wired at 2 ohms
@Learn4rmLifesLessons It's because the Fosgate T2 is a quality subwoofer in every sense of the word. Not this Best Buy/Walmart crap. The T2 will actually handle every single advertised watt (and then some), all while actually SOUNDING good. Unlike this Power Acoustik junk. I'm not one for paying "brand name" prices just for the hell of it, but trust me on this. You WILL notice a difference. The amp makes a huge difference as well. Don't drop $500 on a sub, then pair it with a Lanzar amp.
bro thats a big ass port u sure thats right? i just built a box for one of these and it says 2 circular ports at 4" x 12" i think well either way check mine out
@TwnTurboSupra Thats doesnt mean hes pushing 1700 rms. Especially in a box thats not 3-5 Cubic feet. Like it requires. 1700 rms at 1 ohm. Thats NOT 1 ohm, and if thats 1 ohm, and 1700 rms combined, that sucks. A buddy of mine has a MOFO, and is running 1500 rms through it at 1 ohm, at 14.4v, with a BAMF 2000.1 D. And this shit moves.
Yea it hits pretty hard! It shakes the front door of my house from bout 20yrds away. Don't remember the size of the box but it's made by obcon and believe it's tuned to 40hz. 3,000watt sub for around $150 so I'd say it's the best bang for the buck!
