  • Bill Ward beats the drums in the same intensity that I beat my children.

  • they played fast before anyone else

  • This is IT....!

  • Terry rules!

  • THEY"RE BACK! SABBATH IS BACK!

  • i would love to see the original sabbath live or even the dio sabbath RIP ronnie

  • @TheRattlehead73; Your prayers have been heard.. \m/

  • i would give me left nut to have been there for that concert

  • Why is Tony smiliing?.....Because he knows how much f**king ass he kicks.

  • Black Sabbath created so many genre's. Alot of todays music can be traced back to the original kings of Heavy Metal.

And people compare fucking Led Zeppeling with Black Sabbath? No, NO! hairy chest here son, this is the real music...

  • Bill Ward is just AMAZING here...

  • And this is why I've been a fan for 34 years!

Still better than 9/10th of the crap out there today! And I don't care what anybody says, without Sabbath, metal wouldn't be what it is!

But it is sad that Bill and Geezer (and Toni to a certain extent) never have gotten recognition the deserve as GREAT musicians !

  • Sabbath invented heavy metal back in 69, I rest my case. If you think not look it up.I've been a fan for 35 years.

  • @WavyGravyTrain1 Sabbath are without a doubt the God Fathers of Heavy Metal. No doubt. Nuff said!!!

  • i love having black sabbath because no one in my generation can process the awesomeness that is sabbath and i like it that way cuz then some dip shit pozers would go and fuck it up

  • @itsmiketehdrummerguy I wouldn't say no one just not most people

  • i would love to hear venom do a cover of this, but i doubt cronos would want to :/

  • @xRooster731x This almost sounds like venom, black sabbath backwards doing slayer lines play 30 min set go backstage pound some jack daniels play some more non stop

  • THRASH!!!

  • the first thrash metal songs !!

  • Bill Ward is a beast

  • This is first thrash-metal song =)))))

  • Why didn't they play the end of the song? Where it gets suddenly slow and lyrical? The part that makes this song sooo good and special? Maybe Ozzy would have felt akward, not really knowing what to do on the stage ... Mmh. Kind of a letdown, but I love it anyway.

  • When will fringe leather come back into fashion? I need a freakin fringe leather outfit like Ozzy's!

  • My love died for the 9 people who disliked this.

  • Thus trash metal was born

  • @Shawn0HBK0Michales

    1. No such thing as trash metal

    2. This is heavy metal

    3. You're an idiot

  • @Parralyzed "Symptom of the Universe" is a song by the heavy metal band Black Sabbath, originally from their album Sabotage.

The lyrics were written by Geezer Butler about a dream he had, with many citations about the creation of the universe, the creator and creature and some mythological elements.

It is considered to be one of the first thrash metal songs with the heavier part containing various thrash techniques.

    wikipedia

  • @LeKerstman fair enough, but my first point is still valid because he misspelled "thrash metal" :P

  • Perfect Setlist for a reunion: 1. Children of the Grave 2. NIB 3. Symptom of the Universe 4. The Wizard 5. Sleeping Village 6. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath 7. Iron Man 8. Black Sabbath 9. War Pigs 10. It's Alright 11. Hole In The Sky 13. Am I Going Insane 14. Supernaut 15. Changes 16. Into The Void 17. Paranoid
  • @TrueRocker100 this setlist is in fact very good, but i wouldve love to seen sabbath cover am i evil? cause i know that when symptom came out, am i evil was sort of its competitor, but still, i woudve love seeing them play it

  • the dirty sound, makes this masterpiece even heavier!!!! Hell yeah!!!!

  • The recording of Never Say Die was a difficult task. Recording was fought with re-recording and re-recording over and over. Between the heavy substance abuse and tensions it was a miracle that the album was finished and a tour was pulled off It was the unraveling of a great band, but all in all, the entire tour was somber yet a success.

  • (Continuation) In fact the entire band was heavily "medicated" during this show. You can see this of course at the beginning when Tony is smiling and throughout the entire show. Watch the whole show. Check out Tony's expressions during "Black Sabbath" and his solo. Also check out Bill Ward during the drum solo. There are many other cues to the band being blasted during the show. This is all true not an opinion. This tour had many difficulties, but was pulled off with minimal problems.

  • Here's some info on this live version and the band during this performance. Of course it was filmed at the Hammersmith. Ozzy was at the side of the stage because it was the band (and Ozzy's) way of showing his soon departure. Ozzys voice was more raspy and heavy because right before they were to go on, Ozzy spent the entire time snorting coke and smoking a ton of hash. (Continued on next comment)

  • creepy smile at 0:33 hahah

  • The power of the flat fifth interval...

  • Bill Ward fucking kills it here.

  • Geezer is the most awesome bassist in history

  • first guitar riff I learned to play ! still love playing it

  • Ozzy's vocals on this live version is pure eargasm. It sounds like he just woke up, and downed 20 pints - while having a cold - LOVE IT!

  • Damn....this was back in 1978? Crazy shit watching this. Only 15, but i've been listening to black sabbath since I was like 9, one of my favorite bands.

  • @sniper321w Yeah and the song came out all the way back in 1975! Get a load of that!

  • The sound is pure ugliness & darkness!

  • Iommi you monster

  • Sabbath makes my day, every day!

  • This song alone is heavier than all those 'metalcore' bands together. Long live Sabbath!

  • They didn't do the end part. I love that part.

  • There's nothing like seeing Black Sabbath live....I woke up the next day, and I had "whiplash!"

  • Van halen opened for them on this tour....first time Van halen toured all over the place. Must of been a tough act to follow, with eddie doing eruption and everything

  • @SwampKing04

Not really. This was London, not California.

  • Everybody in the crowd was a time traveller.

  • even at a period when they were at their lowest, they still kicked more ass than 99% of other bands

  • Never understood why they made Ozzy sing it 3 or 4 tones higher than it was recorded. He was never going to sound good doing that...

  • @LawnDarts1 Maybe it's the recording, you know how the tones get higher as the film or tape ages.

  • MARVELOUS!!!!

  • Bill Ward is a primal caveman like beast on the drums.

  • I think this song was the first thrash metal song, probably.

  • @0Noremorse9 The first trash metal song is Stone Cold Crazy, a Queen song

  • @geno059 tHrash.

  • @geno059 I don't think so, for me stone cold crazy just fast rock while symptom of the universe have standart thrashy riffs and drumming like that, the live performances just mind blowing.

  • I wish Bill Ward was my dad.

  • Black Sabbath started a riot at Paramount in Asbury Park in August 1975 with this song..Ozzy was feeling his oats that night

  • gezeer made that bass guitar his bitch, haha

  • the sad thing about me is...i could never seem to hear the bass unless it was alone.and thats why i enjoy sabbath,i get some of the bass.

  • who the fuck dislikes this video???

  • @caligaris27 justin beaver,jonas bros,lady gaga,miley cyrus,all the people who lack talent.

  • Don't get no heavier.

  • I've listened to tons of different music over the years, but Sabbath never gets old for me.

  • @Twonez Same for me !! !! SABBATH RULES !! Tony is in a battle right now A BATTLE THAT NHE WILL WIN !! ALL THE POWER TO TONY IOMMI -DID i say BLACK SABBATH RULES !!

  • I would never think to compare Led Zep. and Sabbath? Not even the same music.I couldnt imagine Iommi going anywhere with flowers in his hair. But somehow I can relate Geezer Butler and Black Dog.Ozzy buying a stairway to heaven?Maybe to replace the one he destroyed.LoL.Ward gets going on the drums,he takes no quarter!Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh OHHH You Dont Have to Go Oh Oh OH OH OH BABYYY PLEASEEE Dont GOOOOOO.

  • Bill Ward and Geezer Butler: Best rythm section ever

  • @blitzshriek999 - Regardless of how much they might have respected or ultimately influenced each other, Zep didn't pave the way for Sabbath, and Metallica didn't pave the way for Slayer - each were contemporaries (i.e. they started at basically the same time)

  • @olympiabinewski -I think this could really get down to splittin some fine hairs- Slayer was part of th big4 whtevr-Metallica formd 1st...do ur homework on Zep, however-and understand this:this is not mentiond for th sake of band preference(I'll always consider Sabbath #1, as well as Stones over th Beatles, etc :D Y'all are lettin admiration for ur 'preferred band' get in the way of basic truths(hadtabethere!) and...shit, just who am i debatin with?:D Been listenin to all of em since '75(;

  • FUCKIN HEAVY AS HELL. easily best live version of symptom of the universe

  • at the time lead zeppelin was supposed to be heavy rock. sabbath juz fucked it in the ass n made rock n roll its lil bitch.

  • @slayerkills1 yeah mayb but sabbath respex zep like stones do th beatles, slayer to metallica etc. gotta remember some motherfucker's gotta hav the guts to pave th way....

  • @blitzshriek999 Its the other way around. The three original members,Geezer,Toni and Ozzy say there first inspiration came from the Beatles.Which did every U.K. youth. The Beatles started a revolution in youth. Thanks to the lyrics of songs such as Helter Skelter,Imagine,The Walrusetc.etc. John,Paul and Ringo were the Force behind allmost every band of that era.Ringo Starr I would say put Ozzy to shame with his antics.John's lyrics and ozzy's were in line with context. Geezer Butler stands alone!

  • I WANT YOU TO GO FUCKING CRAZY!!!!! D'YOU HERE ME?

  • SABAZÃO É FODA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • holy shit

  • bill ward is a god.

  • @tomitstube who the fuck is bill ward?

  • @IMBACHABRI ~ "who the fuck is bill ward"?... is this a joke?

just in case this isn't. he's the monster on the drums.

  • @tomitstube well,i am not a huge fan of black sabbath

but yeah,he is total badass on drums. Those rolls are fucking heavy \m/

  • He sounds like a fucking beast!

  • I wold have loved to hear PanterA cover this song!

  • @fairlystupidjello Agreed! And the last flamenco part too!

  • @PanterAmetal100 it's so easy to imagine! it gives me the chills when I think about it, Dimes searing tone and Vinny's machine gun drums!

  • Ozzys voice is so hard core in this vid

  • The music of the devil... are u listen?

That dark and heavy sound?! That demmon named Black Sabbath!!!??

    YEAH!!!!!!

    I love this version!!!!

  • 0:31 - Tony Iommi is smiling ;O Thought I'd never see that ;o

  • @FistasheC

He smiled throughout the whole song

    inside him i mean xD

  • Love that solo

  • i wanna know wht guy heard ozzy and said man dude ur voice is beatiful lol, dio's voice f-ing rocks and is beatiful, don't get me wrong,i love ozzy hhes funny and good singer but dio can out sing him any day

  • Bill Ward is the best metal drummer...ever.

  • @chopper3a Fuck you, the man has plastic fingertips he's a badass. Iommi was inspirational and innovative in metal, he's a legend.

  • i saw this performed august 1978 madison square garden ozzy forgot the words still best show ever van halen opened

  • Ozzy beat Metallica to thrash!

  • I saw this very tour when it hit Philadelphia, Pa. in August of 1978 with VanHalen opening. I wonder if they opened this show?

  • I saw this very tour when it hit Philadelphia, Pa. in August of 1978 with VanHalen opening. I wonder if they opened this show?

  • bill ward is primal there.

  • There is only one other vocalist I can think of that has as big a problem recreating studio performance as Ozzy and that's Vince Neil.

  • First of all read ozzys book "one person who NEVER beat me up was TONY Iommi"

also in an interview tony admits to picking on ozzys friend an ozz was a victim of circumstance......... i believe the quote was " i might have kicked him in the bollocks once"

2ndly also in the book. ozzy's voice was that way cuz he injured that hangy thing in hte back of his throat from too much flem/ coke clearing so thats why the raspy voice. Ozzy was hittin high notes even in the late zakk yrs

  • RICKENBACKER BASS, HELL YEAH!

  • 9 people have a symptom of mental illness...

  • the solo is fucking great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I guess they're playing this in a different key to accomodate Ozzy's lack of hitting high notes in this era?

  • ozzy needs to fucking gargle some wet souls. i love that rawness. its as if beezelbub has entered the building. black sabbath. only ozzy sabbath. the best fucking rock/blues/metal band ever to grease the palms of giants in the sky.

  • I love this version ozzy sounds like a fuckin beast when he sings it like that

  • thumbs up for a sabbath renunion

  • heavy as fuck...!

  • Sabbath recorded and played these monster pieces during an era where disco was all you would hear everywhere you fuckin' went.

    Metal gods.

  • The Mighty Sabbath! Still makes the hair stand up! And I'm feckin bald! Long live Sabbath! They will be using this stuff in a few years as tutorials in music lessons! They Are and still are the dogs B*%£"£$%^*! I Feckin Love Sabbath! XxX

  • How can anyone give this a dislike?????

  • DUUUDE THIS HEAVIER THAN JUSTIN BIEBER

JK awsome song i like this version a bit more than the album version though there is no acoustic part here which is the best part of the song IMO

  • Al hail Geezer!

  • @pyre4 The MIGHTY GEEZMAN!!

  • The crowd is just standing there! Back then there were no mosh pits!!!

  • pesada y malvada, de las mejores piezas que he oido en mi vida

isn't this off the never say die dvd?

  • ...and so, there was black sabbath, heaviest band on earth...

  • Comment removed

  • Legendary.

  • @sabmaster68 Is such a gullible mf..lol

  • ULTIMATE WARRIOR MUSIC!!!!

  • don't tell me you ACTUALLY believed what I worte. How many 92-years old Black Sabbath fans do you know?

  • @BlackCrowNavajo You would've grown up in the era of "Reefer Madness", and been brainwashed by the government to think cannabis makes people permanently insane.

  • @69ofdoom no narcotic makes people permanently insane more than sophisticated and sinister gvoernmental campaigns on brainwashing...

  • @BlackCrowNavajo Cannabis isn't a narcotic, it's a hallucinogen.

  • @69ofdoom that sounds like 'Tiger is not an animal, it's a predator'.. my friend, i know all too well what is cannabis - I am 49, and 25 of them I've been a professional pharmacologist...

  • @BlackCrowNavajo more bullshit.

  • Who are the dumb bungholes who disliked this?? Listen to OZZY! Gravelly as hell! Wow. Early metal defined.

  • I am 92 years old and I love Black Sabbath, my grand-grand-grand child is 3.5 yars old and he loves Black Sabbath too, we both smoke hash and listen to Killing Yourself To Live and Children of the Grave every day :-))

  • @BlackCrowNavajo you smoke hash with a 3.5 year old? wtf man!

  • Great band!

  • Do you realise how HEAVY this shoul've sounded back in 1975 (when the album was released)

  • @soullessSiIence

I'd choose this song any day over any death metal song. It's that awesome.

  • @soullessSiIence hell it still sounds pretty heavy to me buddy

  • @soullessSiIence

Yeah! And imagine how satanic Black Sabbath (the song) sounded back then

  • @soullessSiIence

    It doesn´t get darker!

  • @soullessSiIence Do you realized how heavy they sounded back in 1971 when master of reality album came out? :P

  • @soullessSiIence probably heavier then hearing death metal for the first time in the 90's

  • @soullessSiIence Still heavy IMO even by todays standards...

  • Has anyone got any footage of the support band - Van Halen - on this tour, playing Lewisham?

'Hey - I've heard that Lewisham is the rock 'n' roll capital of the World'

  • @NeilThompson30

Apparently Ozzy and Tony used to have fistfights during this phase of Sabbath, as witnessed by David Lee Roth.

  • @fenderfunk Would not hav ebeen a fight , Iommi was a Golden Glover.

  • THE HEAVY METAL GODS FINALLY BEGAN TO PERFORM.To save us all from all the CRAP the mainstream was feeding us.BLACK SABBATH RULES!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the best song of the amazing Ozzy album "Speak of the Devil".

  • saw this live the month the album came out..so awesome

  • This track on the album Iommi gets a Great sound, like a chain saw.

No guitar on the planet sounds like a John Birch SG.

Iommi does not get that tone anymore. I miss that 1965 Gibson SG tony had, it had a great tone.

    Sabotage is a Great Album!

  • Never forgive Iommi for putting OZ on side stage

  • @jtabor13 Huh?

  • @jtabor13 - it looked great.

It never really crossed anyone's mind when you were there at thegig.

  • @jtabor13 if you check out the california jam 74 video on youtube you will see ozzy on the side stage also.In 78 somepeople took this as an end to ozzys career with sabbath i don,t know you decide

  • @sobuliak There's like a rare video of them in canada or something in 1971 and ozzy is at the side of the stage then, so it was like that most of their career.

  • @nw781 you are right after a little research i found the clip it was shot in toronto in 1970 and indeed ozzy is on the right side -good call.when i saw them back in 75 ozzy was in the center?whos knows maybe they were all just to stoned to care?

  • @sobuliak Yeah, or could be to do with wiring like both tony and geezer have to be close to the PA or something.

  • I can still remember when I bought this album. I laughed at the front cover. But the album is no laughing matter. Simply awesome rock! It's truly a shame they don't seem to support any new bands these days who are playing similar type music.

  • They made music...... fucking beautiful music

  • @gobuccos97 Brutal Legend, right? *high five*

  • @jeffersonairp yes nice catch on that quote

  • @gobuccos97 You've got to be kidding

  • Great song and performance.

  • \\m// (^_^) \\m//

  • ladies and gentlemen...thrash metal is born

  • I HEART SABBATH:)

  • who were the nine idiots that gave this a thumbs down?!?!?
