Great performance, brings back memories of the Electone festival days. Thanks for posting your video clip. I also have a HS8 which has had a lot of use in the past for 100s of weddings and other functions and still works well after 22 years but rarely gets played.
Well, it's too bad I didn't find this two years ago. Anyway, it had me chuckling (because it just sounded neat and looked like you were having fun). Thanks.
That was a great performance and you have swayed my mind into buying an HS8 next week, the choice was either to part ex my EL40 for an EL70, or get the HS8 straight out.....HS8 won!
I used to play that tune myself but my mind suddenly became swiss cheesed!
HS-8 is not really an organ. It's an FM synthesizer that has its roots in the DX-7. It is very versatile, but most of its sounds are quite dated today (especially the rhythm unit). You can probably find a used HS-8 for around $500.
@Audioquest56 Yes, and good organs are timeless! Have 9 I play & they aren't all Hammond tone wheel either. An HS-8 sat on Craigslist for $125 here in Columbus for over a week. The supply of all musical instruments are greater than the demand. If you like the sound of a good old organ then you won't buy a new one that sounds any better than an old one, in fact they all sound worse. Hey' that's fine because the best organ design was perfected in the 1960's. Wurlitzer 4300 is A1 Morelock's 4 parts
lmao@ supermarket sounds !! you mean the tunes that come on those little speakers in the toliets ?? i thought that was a great performance audioquest nicely played ..
This is really good. My dad had this organ. He passed away a few days ago, and I will miss hearing him play it so much. He would have loved to see your performance too. People like you need to keep the sound of the HS-8 alive! :-)
I'm totally going to rip the audio from this video and use it in a DVD menu for my "best of" disc with M.I.A., two choice selections (i'm not done yet watching season 3), and the last episode. I just got the series on DVD. Thanks!
A wonderful performance, and great orchestration. I used to own a HS6 up until about 10 years ago. I moved from the UK to the US so had to sell it, my setup now is all modern keyboards and rackmount stuff.
There's still something about the old FM and (original) AWM sounds, always good to hear.
nice dude..great playing...and nice interpretation..would you like to share some tips on orchestration and rpp and rcp ? thanks...dont know how to do it in my hs8...
Dude, I am a professional pianist and I have always loved this tune. Your version is the best I have ever heard. Not sure if we are allowed to give out our sites on youtube, but if you just dot com my name...that's me....Bob

@Alvis1250 Since I've bought an FX-20, the HS-8 rarely gets played in the more. Had to store it in the basement.
