Mike Awesome winning Hardcore title on his debut was first time that wrestler who was part of different company at the time won WWE title in history of WWE. Invasion had many firsts: first appearance by wrestler from other company, first match by wrestler from other company, first title, first title loss...
Lance Storm's debut was the first appearance of a wrestler from different company on WWE television in history. He was also first wrestler from another company to have official match in WWE history too
This storyline between Steven Richards and Kronik wasn't suprise to us who knew Kronik from their WCW days. In WCW they used "Breaking Necks and Cashing Checks" gimmicks, which saw them work as hired muscle to whoever pays them. It was very similar to APA's gimmick.
DDP has legally changed his name to Dallas Page and so he is legal owner of both name and gimmick. He has complete control over his gimmick and storylines. This was his and only his mistake.
Alright people time to set the record straight it wasn't VKM who came up with the idea of DDP becoming the stalker, it was DDP who came up with the idea (He wanted to give himself a new gimmick & as we all know it didn't go over so well) he's even said he regretted his decision to change his gimmick he had in WCW.
Just watching DDP's debut here. Amazing to me how a guy who was a top star in WCW fell so quickly. Taker just slaughtered him, and I think I remember him even jobbing to Taker's then wife Sara as part of this ridiculous angle. It never made any sense anyway--Page was still with Kimberly, who was way hotter than Sara. I still scratch my head at that.
what about that one time only match Buff Bagwell had? Even though it was only one time, technically he did debut in WWE, and all members of The Radicals? They were all WCW guys one time.
Mike Awesomes was pretty cool but it would have been nice if they actually acknowledged how he was,I mean you counldnt even have Paul Heyman say HEY ITS MIKE AWESOME
The Booker T debut was very cool, it was one of the few face run-ins in the invasion, but of all of them, I still get goosebumps for the first pop for Jericho's titantron.
Jericho's debut was amazing!!!! still remember it to this day!!!!! I remember thinking NO F$#KING WAY!!!!!! good old before the internet spoilt everything!!!!
That was Brian Clark's debut in WWE but it wasn't Brian Adam's, although it was under his real name. He performed in WWE in 1996 and 1997 under the name Crash and was member of Nation of Domination and leader of short-lived stable Disciples of Apocalypse before he went to WCW in January 1998 where he joined nWo.
Actually, watching this, ALL of the debuts shown were awesome. What a missed opportunity. Lance Storm getting a Hogan like pop? And I gotta say that the Awesome debut was perfect for the storyline, having a WCW guy win the WWF Hardcore title (thanks to the 24/7 rule) before the angle really even kicked into full gear? Nice.
Oh, and the pop that DDP and freakin' Hugh Morrus got proves even more how pumped he fans would have been for a real interpromotional angle. All they had to do was repeat the early NWO storyline and it would have went over like gangbusters. Instead, Vince McMahon preferred to stroke his own ego.
When you watch the Booker T and O'Haire/Palumbo Invasion clips, there's no reason the WWF could not have made this angle work. It writes itself. Just keep it simple. They started OK, having the WCW World and Tag Champs jumping WWF guys and then running away. But you can see how they fucked it up with O'Haire/Palumbo. So you have the WWF guys catch them and then kick the shit out of them 15 on 2? How does that even make WWF look like faces?
@hnchowdhury Yes, they were Crush and Adam Bomb. With wrestlers always jumping ship, it led to some odd instances such as Meng/Haku beating down O'Haire and Palumbo even though he was in WCW just 1 year earlier (and for about 7 years at that).
@peterp21 Yeah but Meng/Haku was originally a WWF Wrestler before he went WCW. Remember The Colossal Connection? He was also a member of the Heenan Family.
YOU GOTTA LOVE THE ATTITUDE ERA HEY VINCE LOOK AT YOUR OLD IDEAS AND USE THAT AS A GUIDE TO CHANGE THE WWE YOU HAVE NOW MAN IS GETTING BORING WATCHING THE SAME WRESTLERS JOHN CENA NEEDS A FUCKING HEEL TURN AND WE NEED SOME NEW FREE AGENTS MAKE SOME TRADES WITH OTHER WRESTLING PROMOTIONS
the wwe/f invasion from the wcw and ecw storyline was absolutely insane!! i wish tna and wwe would come to an agreement and have occasional crossovers where they can both fued on live national television. if they did that, the number of fans of both organizations would skyrocket!!!
When Booker. T was running it reminded me of the movie The Warriors, like all the WWF wrestlers were the gangs trying to fuck up the warriors (Booker.T).
@manutdchampions0607 aww damn I knew this Booker T debut was wrong...agh. I'll try to find the real one. Once I do get a hold of it, I'll change it. Thanks btw.
@316whatup No problem. He jumped out of the crowd and slammed Austin through the announcers table. Booker attacking Austin on SmackDown was the first time he had ever been seen on weekly WWE TV. A great moment for him and the WWE :)
@manutdchampions0607 Thanks once again. I edited the video just now for Booker T. Now saids "WWE debut to Smackdown." I'll try and see if I can find Booker T's actual debut to the WWE. It used to be up on Youtube...somehow got pulled down. I also have other ones I have missed like the debuts of Molly Holly and Mark Jindrak to WWE. Still trying to find more atm.
@manutdchampions0607 btw pscicosis debuted at ecw one night stand not as part of the mexicools along with super crazy , juventud did indeed made his official wwe debut on that smackdown
@shaney02007 Yeah I know, but this was before ECW One Night Stand ppv had the WWE logo...so Pscicosis did officially debut in the WWE as part of the Mexicools in this Smackdown.
@SwantonKing313 The WWE being PG is absolutely irrelevant on why the WWE product is in the waste. People seem to forget that the greatest era ever in professional wrestling, to some it's called the "second golden-era" to others "the rock & wrestling connection" was 100% PG. Was that product horrible? NO, it was the best product that Vince McMahon and the WWF/E ever put on TV. People need to get off the WWE's back for being PG and thinking it sucks because of that sole reason alone.
@TheMadStork83 its not for that sole reason alone but definatly a major factor , we are in the worst era of wrestling today . the PG era doesnt work , not saying it has to go back to the attitude era but needs a change .
@MorettiPelle I don't think it would really matter what rating the WWE slaps on their product. There is no legit competition for the WWE to make their product better and the people who Vince has surrounding him no nothing about the business. Plus, no one seems to have the balls anymore to tell Vince his ideas suck, everyone now pretty much kisses his ass, from what I've heard at least.
@TheMadStork83 your right , the best days of wrestling are behind us . you should look up a video called 15 reasons why vince mcmahon sucks & 15 reasons why wwe sucks
@MorettiPelle By the offtheropesshow? Oh I know them, they're good friends of mine and I have a show called ontheropesshow, which is their "sister" show.
@TheMadStork83 I think the rationale is that you can't work backwards. I agree that the 'PG' era in and of itself is not to blame. But it does work with the three major factors: one, the talent just isn't as good as they used to be. There's NO ORIGINALITY...we had dragon's and snake's and junkyard dog's and killer bee's. Now we've got CM Punk and Randy Orton and John Cena. Kayfabe is dead, so there is none of the suspended disbelief. And most of all, the internet spoils everything.
@316whatup because when psicosis was in WCW most lucha libre wrestlers were forced for mask etc , and wcw had a deal with the lucha libre circuit , wwe didnt had that so he could finally play his game without the mask , look at juventud he was masked at wcw as well
I can't front...I marked out HARD when DDP took off that mask back in the day
