Queer is not a term being reclaimed for the sake of pride, the intent is to create a heretofore unseen avenue of examination. It's completely centered in the tradition of academia, and it reclaims a spurned identity. Study something before you form opinions, that's what I recommend for you.

queer means unusual. not usual. not the norm. we as lgbt people are not the norm. we are a minority. it is the correct usage of the word. however, faggot means a bundle of sticks used for burning, which makes no sense in a literal way, and is clearly offensive. queer is perfect, i feel. it is different from the n-word which by definition is not positive, just like faggot. "queer", just like the word "unusual" is neither good nor bad, it is dependent on how you see it.
