@KCstreetRacing - No mate. It's mapped for 100 octane (the standard in Japan - where it was mapped). Here in the UK we can get up to 99 octane so it still runs ok.
I've been meaning to ask for a while now but never got around to it... what is the width & offset on your front & rear wheels? Also, what are the dimensions on the tires too? I really like the way the car sits on them. Having a hard time finding these in the states last time I checked 1/2 a year go. Is your 3S-GTE a 2nd or 3rd gen? @velisma - Front: 8inch ET33 - Tyres 215/40/17. Rear: 9J ET43 - Tyres 245/40/17. The car is a 2nd Gen. I played around with various spoilers including the Aeroware, but finally took the plunge and went for the Rev5 combat spoiler as it's my favourite - required filling the holes left in the rear quarter panels and respraying. I prefer the Gen2 engine as it seems to put out 20-30 lb.ft more than similarly tuned Gen3 engines.
@Mubble I never would've guessed a 2nd gen. putting out more torque than a 3rd gen. I'm guessing the 20-30lbs/ft torque is found lower in the RPM range as a result of the TVIS? or is it the Mines ECU that does that through out the whole power band?

And we all know torque means acceleration. Rev3s are better for extracting bhp though. Given the choice again I'd have a Rev3, but budget at the time meant Rev2 was my only option.
@AwwesomePossumm - Get used to mid engined rear wheel drive handling. Treat it with respect and remember it will bite you in the ass at some point. How soon depends on how much you push your luck. Either way, enjoy the new ride mate!
@Mubble i got the car. it has 150,000 miles on the original trans, but a rebuilt motor at 145k
only flaw thats gunna need work is i think the 2nd gear synchro is going out because it grinds slightly when shifting from 1st at high rpms, but besides that and the cosmetic damages its all good.
Does this help with the grinding gear when shifting? I have a problem with my 1992 MR2 and it's from 1st to 2nd to 3rd gear. I have to shift slowly and the right speed or else it will make a sound. Please let me know soon
@AznFriedRiceDT - Probably not in your case. It'll smooth the change if it's slightly notchy. Your issue sounds a bit more serious and may involve a gearbox overhaul. Might be worth a try though for the sake of £30/$30.

Very reliable great first car, my only gripe is that handling could be much better - I run '225' Michelin tires and in the snow handling is awful - go for a Front wheel drive car anytime. As engine is in rear the front is so light and in the snow the back end was swinging all over the place (even though front was holding) I personally prefer a Honda Prelude/Legend as those cars have more 'balls' offer better handling. Toyota should have carried the pop up lights onto their mark 3 model too.

@ionfreak93 - You don't. The engine is cooled by air coming up underneath and out through the engine lid. Putting a scoop on will just push that hot air back into the engine. Not cool.

On with the car. What can I say except it's beautiful. I'm single and I hate taking on passengers thus I've been searching for an MR2 locally. These still hold pretty good value. There seems to be a lot of RHD cars imported from Japan but I don't know if that's doable. Shit, it's so beautiful I wish car companies made them still. I don't want to get a Miata.

Sorry if this was already mentioned earlier... I'm trying to see how big a rim/apect ratio/tread width I can put on my '91 turbo. Can you give me your exact numbers for your beauty and did you have to modify the car ie. take out the wheel well plastic to do so?
@redruMnCoke84 . My fronts are 17" diameter with 8" width running 215/40 tyres. Rears are 17" but 9" width running 245/40 tyres. I didn't need to remove or modify the wheel arch lining. However, it all depends what the 'offset' of the wheels are (the location of the centre hub of the wheel in relation to the inside or outside edge of the rim). Check out this website for calculations... "mr2.gordaen . com/wt_calc . php" (remove all the spaces in the address!)

@NewGenZ - The clutch is fine for the power. It's more the torque which determines which clutch. Mine is good for about 360lb.ft - my MR2 makes about 300. It's been on there about 40,000miles and it's still only partly worn. Feel-wise, the clutch is no stiffer to use than the stock one that I had on before. Go to the Rogue Motorsport website and look under Products and Clutches, a newer version is in there. I haven't tried other makes so can't comment. Maybe ask on the MR2 forum?

Awesome video! That is one nice MR2. I have a red '91 that is in the process of being painted black. I just hope that it comes out as nice as yours. See, this is a nice car, its not over the top like half these other MR2's wit fighter jet bodykits on em, and shit, lol. This is a great example of what, not only a MR2 should look like, but any import car should look like, for all the pathetic ricers out there, takes notes from this video, yall might actually learn somethin..
