ahh mate that was great stuff loved the other ssections like the chords up and down the neck. I used to play this its a tricky little intrumental but lots of pleasure when its nailed. brilliant stuff
Hi David! I have played that piece for over 20 years and decided to relearn it (that goes fast). Then I checked on youtube and found your rendition of it. Really excellent!
I play quite afew pieces from JR (bicycle tune, John's tune, etc.)Keep up the nice work!
Hey that was great you pretty well nailed that there fantastic playing! I have been trying to get that one down myself but still gets a little hit and miss in places...its quite a challenge...kudos 5 * for you (who on earth put less...really... some people!). Thanks for sharing.
Thanks David. The left hand is all chords and the right is all patterns. The tricky part is the tempo- You can cook if your practiced up on it, but if not, you don't want to take it too fast. I played it much better yesterday, but no camera. Not so good today. Keep at it, it's a great tune.
My god thats amazing!! At long last a Faros Rag video on youtube thats worth watching! I found a tab for this on a freetabs website but it looks a bit to short, it's like half a page long!! I need to work on it see what the story is with it!! Anyhoot that was amazing! Did you get your sheet music from a book or online? This was tremendous I'll look forward to more videos from you!
Thanks Lee. I learned this tune from tabs contained in a book called "John Renbourn: The Hermit and the Nine Maidens". A collection of tabs from two great albums of his. Renbourn really is a giant. A master at arranging and composing for fingerstyle in so many styles. Not to mention his technique. Try to find some tabs of his, they're worth reading.
Sorry. The full title of the book is "Original Guitar Solos- John Renbourn The Nine Maidens, The Hermit, Stefan and John." Published by Hal Leonard Publishing Corp. First published in 1986. May be out of print I don't know. Good Luck
Thanks gooch. I think the rattling is coming from the mic built in to the camera... it's in the mix so to speak. I do tend to dig in though. Thanks for the observation. Good luck with your music.
Thanks. I know the tone isn't the greatest. It was recorded with a low budget pocket sized video camera with a built in microphone. The room is very alive with hardwood floors and very little furniture to absorb the sound.
great tune mate well played

wow great! one of most difficult JR' s tune...

You really nail it! Big props. The buzzing of your guitar distracts a bit, I might respectfully say. Great playing in any case.

Brilliantly played - it swings more than JR's version!

@TheWhisleblower
Just a thumbpick. I'm dampening the bass strings a little bit. That's what gives it that boom-chick sound!
Cheers
