When I was about 12, one of these talented people was a teenage mentor for my summer MT camp. I remember him as tremendously kind and inspirational. It never showed that he could have been affected by bullies, I saw him as one of the amazing teachers that gave me confidence to pursue my dreams, even when he was still so young and had barely begun going after his. I'm incredibly proud to see him, almost ten years later, ON BROADWAY and sharing his story. Thank you, Derek, and all of you! :)
Thank you for doing this. And it gets so much better. Just hang in there and don't let anyone define you with their ignorance and intolerance. You rock!
Thank you so much for taking time out of the day to be able to give a story, and especially to say just three simple words: "It gets better." But just those three words have the power to change someone's life. To be able to tell all those LGBT youth who are struggling that it gets better - for them to hear testimonies and what changed - is so powerful, and I'm so touched. From the bottom of my little gay heart, thank you :) - I'm sure you've changed the lives of many <3
This is a really great video. When I was younger, I thought I was alone in this. Once high school was over, college was where I began to learn that I wasn't. I have wonderful family and friends...It does get better!
Love you all! Thank you for ALL the gifts that you share! I'm a married, straight, 52 year old mother of 4 and I am touched by all your stories. If anyone needs the support of a mom or a friend I'm available for both!
I may be twenty years old and straight, but this whole project really resonates with me. I know I'm not your target audience, but... thank you. From one lonely girl who feels a little more hopeful every time she sees the words "It Gets Better," thank you so so much for doing this. It's a good thing you're doing here. I'll bet you anything there are LGBT kids out there who are going through the kinds of troubles you describe who see these videos and change their minds about hurting themselves.
Not exactly a fan of gay pride or marriage n all that. But, this is MUCH more effective at educating and expressing a point of view than the FCKH8 video.

I know that it gets so much better. I was there I was when I was younger wanting to kill myself because of the teasing and the bullying.
I just came out of the closet last year to my friends and family. Im 22 now. People respect me because of my choice to live out as who I am.
Please remember it does get better. If anyone has any questions please feel free to check out my blog at gayriccio.tumblr.com

I was getting choked up as I watched this video, and once they started playing Will I from Rent in the background, I lost it.
Such an inspiring video. I love it.
