  • So after watching this video; when you brought up mathematics having always been integrated in the universe, which I believe is true no doubt about it, Does this mean the future is already set ? even though we are unknowing. I'm asking this because if the universe has always been and always will be then wouldn't time be irrelevant, leaving the future already written ?

  • @MrAndrewIbsen Yes, in my opinion the future is already set and is deterministic. However, I also believe it is impossible for any perceiving entity, such as humans, to ever fully know the future. We can only approximate the future, provide educated guesses based on the information that the present moment presents to us. Time does play an important role in the scheme of things. One event must happen before another and so on, and so on. It all has a purpose. We're always fulfilling our destiny.

  • @GuyusSeralius That is an interesting concept...and a funny image. :P

  • Here is my two cents: God is a plausible explanation to the one question we don't have an answer for. "Where did the little speck of stuff that became the Universe come from?"

  • @GuyusSeralius Although it is difficult to wrap one's head around the fact that the universe has always been, and always will be, you deliver the message very well. I am a pantheist, but I was conflicting with the big bang theory. I also conflicted with the universe always being there, because quite frankly, it makes my head hurt. I've decided that it has always been and always will be.

  • @ChibiMyuutsu I currently believe that something similar to the Big Bang theory did occur. However, my view varies quite a bit from the mainstream view. For instance, I believe, as many respectable scientist are now starting to, that it is likely a cyclic event, going from Big Bangs to Big Crunches, back and forth. I also personally believe that there are an infinite number of Big Bangs and Big Crunches constantly exploding and contracting throughout the infinite, like an infinite bubble bath.

  • I think you lost me with Plato, but I go with the idea that everything is eternal, this moment is eternity.

  • @TheTempleofNature Plato's "Ideal Forms" are difficult to explain, especially with the little bit of information I provided in this video, but in a nutshell, Plato believed the physical aspect of the universe is like an imperfect echo of a perfect non physical version. For example, Jessica Alba's physical form is a reflection of true beauty that is timeless, though her actual physical body will eventually decay. If interested, I definitely recommend doing an online search on Ideal Forms.

  • @GuyusSeralius isn't that dualism?

  • @TheTempleofNature Dualism covers a broad range of coexisting, polar opposites. So yes, Plato's two-world view definitely qualifies. One of the most familiar expressions of dualism is the Yin and Yang concept found in nature. The term also often refers to moral duality, such as good and evil. Dualism is often found to be at the heart of most religions, as well as my own personal philosophy.

  • @GuyusSeralius I'm more into monism. Dualist pantheism don't make much sense to me.

  • @TheTempleofNature I too have a monistic view of the world. I love the idea of unity. I ultimately view all things as a single unified whole. But, at the same time, I believe the oneness can be divided and analyzed in sub parts--like two sides of the same coin or the three main primary colors of visible light or the six sides of a cube, etc. By the way, I read all the quotes and philosophy on pantheism in the margin of your channel and thought it was excellent material! I greatly enjoyed it!

  • @GuyusSeralius Thanks :)

  • @TheTempleofNature I should also mention that as beautiful as Jessica Alba is, her physical form is not a perfect representation of true beauty, according to Plato. He believed it was impossible for the physical aspect of the world to ever fully express the perfection of the untouchable version, which is the conceptual world. But in my opinion, Jessica comes pretty damn close!
