Philadelphia rules. They've are the team that's been in the playoffs since 1967 more than any other team. If you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen. What's the matter are you guys a bunch of mamby pamby Montreal Frog Fans. I'm Canadian and Montreal sucks shit.
Shultz, Tiger, Gillies, O'Reilly, McllHargey, and John Ferguson... all enforders who played very well. So who gives a damn if Kocur or Probert could have beaten them?! Best enforcers ever: IMO Hammer, Probert, Ferguson, and O'Reilly.
Dave Schultz still makes ALLLLLL of you fucking pussies cry and whine and bitch. Just like the 70's when the FLYERS were winning Stanley Cups and being one of the most dominant teams in the NHL.
Thirty fuckin years plus and he STILL makes you babies cry. Jesus christ grow a pair. The people he was playing against were the real ones you should be screaming at for not sticking up for one another.
When his book "The Hammer" came out in 1980, I saw an interview with him, he was whining that he couldn't understand why everyone hated him so much! Duh! I love a good hockey scrap, but there is no place in hockey for the crap the 1970s Flyers pulled. Fight, yeah. But to try to goad non-fighters into fights was chickenshit. He wasn't an enforcer - John Ferguson was an enforcer - Schultz was a GOON. There is a HUGE difference. They could never have pulled that crap in the 6-team NHL.
Agreed. The 70s Flyers weren't tough - they were cowards. They picked on weaker players and non fighters. Watch clips where a Saleski or a Kelly would start losing a fight - the other Flyers would jump in. I was thrilled when the Canadiens and Islanders kicked their ass in the Cup finals.
The Blues of the late 60's would have killed the Flyers of the 70's, Put teams like this up against real hockey teams and they got exposed. The same thing happened to the Bruins in 1980 when the Islanders kicked their ass in every possible way.
The 70's Flyers protected themselves and beat up anyone who at all were an obstacle to the Cup. Star forwards, Europeans, whatever. On the ice, the Flyers did what they needed to do to win.
Lets be fair, yeah he was dirty at times but he was a legitimately tough fighter and I love O'Reilly, but they were about even when look at all of their fights
I'll never forgive that douche Schultz for attacking hockey fighting after he ended his career. What a pussy move.

But Schultz admitted that he was afraid of Nicky Fotiu, who may have been the best ever.

as well as the hair pulling rule
the broad street bullies can be seen over and over again yanking on the longer hair of the 70s players

if its not in the rule book then theres nothing wrong with it and nothing to stop the other players doing it back

he was one of the toughest guys ever, and doesn't seem to get as much credit as the tough guys of today, or the 80's and 90's.
