My baybay cat (Tink) got a something similar - she had a benign tumor in her thyroid where she went from being morbidly obese to skeletal and stopped eating while I was at university. My mum had to take her into the vet for this hardcore radio-active treatment. They had to isolate her afterwards and we couldn't touch her for a week, but when we got her home she was perfectly back to normal. She gained back all the weight as it perfectly fine.

oh srry bout ur cat :( my cat just recently had 2 get put to sleep :( it was so devistating b/c i was so close 2 him, but he had a heart disease and he was havin seizers and it was terrible i didnt go 2 the vet w/ my mom wen u died but she came back and told me :( it was terrible

I am so sorry about your cat! I can totally understand because the first day we adopted our little kitten she got sick and she almost died, but then the vet gave her medicene and she is now a happy (and fat!) one year old kitten! Just keep praying!

so sorry to hear about bear, i know exactly how you feel i used to have 3 cats and all of them had their sick fazes and stuff, but yeah i find that often doctors and vets dont want to go out of their way to do biopsies on things that might be incredibly minor so i would have your family keep an eye out for the tumor possibility, but also keep your spirits up and hope for the best and you know, whatever happens happens for the best. my thoughts and prayers are with you, him and your family :) xo

Sounds like it might be a thyroid problem. A tumor in a 3 year old cat isn't terribly likely. Either way, hopefully your cat recovers.

This is sort of a random question, but did your family buy Bear from a breeder? I had a persian cat that I bought from a breeder that died when he was four years old.Later we found out that the breeder had sold us him without telling us about all these heart issues he had. And the vet the breeder told us to take him to lied to us about his condition.

Some breeders can be sketchy I guess.

BEAR: Can I ask what you feed him? Sounds silly but I had a young cat who had the same problem and because we fed her so well and feed her high quality meats it wasnt the right diet for her and they also thought she had a virus. now we've changed it shes all better. She looks like your cat exactly. X

i know! i went through the same thing with my dog, he was a yellow lab and we had him since i was 5 and he was really sick as well, and i had a dance performance so i had to stay after school, and i had all my stage makeup on and the really dark eye and my sister came in a brought me a note that my parents left on the counter at home that said " went to put sonny to sleep, be home around 10 " and i just burst into tears, like i didnt get to say goodbye, it sucks! so i know what yr going through.

sorry about your kitty :-( I also have a Himilayan- Before I moved to Germany he stopped eating to and we found out that he had heart muscle diesase, like congestive heart failure. Apparently that breed of cats gets it often and it can be started from a stressful event. They can go on medicine and have an almost 100% turnaround. Hope he gets better!!

Have you considered a hair ball in his stomach for bear? It's not uncommon cats can get blocked (my mom's in the pet industry). Best wishes!
