  • I was competing in the powerlifting meet behind you folks. From what I could see, your strongman competition looked pretty intense. I wouldn't have any idea on how to train for something like that. The events are pretty creative. Do you folks know exactly which events are going to be held at the meet so you can train ahead of time? Or, is it a suprise when you get there?

  • @UPAPowerlifter1 The events are typically listed when the entry form comes out. Sometimes they change slightly or the weights used are altered. For the most part you know you have to keep a foundation of max strength in the deadlift, squat and overhead press and all their variations while keeping familiar with the events that may be in the contest. Assistance work is typically like a powerlifter with lots of back/shoulder/tricep work and probably a bit more grip work/ conditioning.
