Infact,Jesus's reference to the hour suggests that he was looking beyond the present wedding to his own mission.In other words putting God and the command from him before anything else.This was also the theme when he stopped a person from attending his father's funerals.Basam says love for God is greater than love for man,so why does he find Jesus's own actions his teachings (doing the same thing) so odd?

An interesting thing is that just like all muslims, most of the references he quoted, he ripped the verses out of context just trying to prove his point but any person who has read the Bible will never buy that, only a muslim will accept it! :D

In that essay he says that Muslims should be allowed to kill apostates...and he says that no non-muslim can't give an intellectual or rational reason why muslims shouldn't kill apostates. There you see what kind of person this man is...no reason for not killing innocents?

Islam is practical and made for world level and not just individual or society level. Sorry, it's something that Christians have no idea about due to the ambiguousity and no practical establishment of building foundations for society.

@oombuddah Yes, PUBLIC apostates should be killed, not apostates who keep it to themselves. In the end of the day, freedom of religion is acceptable, but not if you're a mslim who left publically, and I see nothing wrong from a theological standpoint where a God would want to protect his nation.

A lot of scholars say that people can apostasise from Islam, I am just in support of the view that they should be killed.

I submit to the ruling - I don't know what it really is. Because Muhammad pbuh did not kill some apostates, so it could depend on the context.

Bassam doesn't seem to know that the author of Hebrews and the other New Testament authors quoted from the Septuagint. Bassam cross-referenced the New Testament quotations with the masoretic text.

Most of the manuscripts are from 2-3 centuries and onwards, theyre copies of copies, actual original Mark and other gospels dont exist

The same could be said for any document of ancient antiquity. There are very minor variations such as spelling and word order. Those are your different manuscripts. Your point?

actually there are more than just spelling mistakes, as Raymond Brown and others have shown, there are changes that have been made on purpose for doctrine, nad they give examples, the bible is a working edition, depending on manuscripts that ur using ur going to have differences between various bible editions, not to mention the verse of the trinity in john, wich is known by almost all to be a later insertion in these manuscripts

The Comma Johanneum is a VERY late insertion into the text, that it shouldn't be taken seriously as a variant.

The simple fact that we know what the variants are, proves that we have a great understanding of what the New Testament teaches.
