My grandad was a loyal employee of Flying Tigers from 1969 to 1987. I remember as a kid seeing "Tigers" stuff all over his home. Playing cards, beer glasses etc. In 1982 my grandpa took me up to SFO to the Tigers hanger. He took me up into the pilot seat of a 747 and ran me through how the plane functioned. He and I bonded from that moment on. I have nothing but reverence for this company and how well they treated Dave Nye, my grandpa. RIP
@TheNepharous I worked for Tigers from 1971 until 1989 until FedEx bought us. I retiired a couple of years ago but have never been prouder to work for a company called Flying Tigers. Lots of work, lots of fun, kind of crazy, and truly bonded me with more friends than I can ever imagine; same bond as I had in the Air Force.
We need to make a memorial for the Vapor Trails on Imperial at LAX.
@craiglordable Thank you for your comment. My grandad loved Flying Tigers. The whole ground crew and maintanence guys up at SFO were great. I would love to see a memorial for the Vapor Trails. If you happen to get wind that a memorial may be in the works I would be proud to donate to it. Again thanks for your comment. long live Flying Tigers.
Thanks, it would certainly be quite a project. I know that the property is now condos. The Vapor Trails was quite a place to hang out and alot of airline folks stopped in there, especially the LAX graveyard folks on check day. I'm still looking for some pics.
That one Robert Prescott is my wife's late father. What memories. Does anyone have access to the film of that entire event? It would mean so much to her and the family.
I just watched this for the first time with my wife....who is the late Robert Prescott's daughter. What fond memories. Wish we had access to the entire "roast" from that wonderful evening. Can anyone help?
It is amazing something like this was even done. Nowadays its comparitively less expensive to do with videotape. They shot two 16mm cameras with sync sound. They had to switch cameras every 10 minutes. The full presentation runs close to an hour.
Really nice- I worked for FTL from 1978-1980 in PHL.......great company..thx for posting.....
