this is a good phone if you use the Palm PDA desktop for a database, it links well to the phonebook making it easy to be up and running right away with your full phone book. The calendar, memo, and tasks work well too. The calc is great, they have a good techie calc that does hex and sci funcs as well as basic calc. Old Palm games run too. It is kind of fragile though, i dropped it once and my ringer stopped working. But good used ones are easily avail for $40. dont need data plan either.

i've had this phone for less then a year, and the buttons have fallen off so it's very complicated to text. it's kinda complicated to figure the phone out at first, (but i like that.) The battery life doesn't last that long. it's very small, and the buttons are very hard to text on. i had the internet on my phone and then it seemed pointless. but, overall it just depends on what you look for most in a phone.

one of the worst things about the centro is that the stylus is completely cheaply made and i've broken 2 of them just in normal use! its hollow and very thin plastic. simply gripping it gently in my hand in order to use it caused it to break and i had to order another one, and then another one. very annoying!

people say that the keyboard is too small to text, but I have a palm centro and it is great for texting. the rubber coating on the buttons makes it easy for your fingers to move faster along the keys. I text really fast on the keyboard.

This phone is pretty cool... I loved it.. This is the best phone I've had.. The only bad thing is that the sound started sounding distorted after 4 months and the warranty department from AT&T replaced it twice because it semms like they are sending me used phones that don't work well so now they told me I have to choose a diferent phone whitch i don't want to do.. But i guess i have to but i don't know what else to get.. because none of them compare to the Palm Centro

First off, thanks a TON for the extremely thorough and interesting review. I have watched over a dozen reviews before this one and I will not watch another single one due to the fact that you covered EVERY question I had.

If I had watched this one first I could have saved some time.

I would definately suggest losing the bright white background though as it causes the camera to auto adjust and make the phone screen look dim.

Other than that, GREAT review and I look forward to watching more!

one thing to get used to this phone besides the keyboard is the right "end button" he says end but it really turns the phone into a standby mode (locks it) when first getting it, my freind told me when he tried to close things with that it got annoying because he had to learn to use the back buttons on the screen

I have big fingers and short nails but I can type easily with my thumbnails. Even on bigger keyboards I have to use my thumbnails. So the Centro isn't much different than the others for me. Battery life has been excellent for me. I love my Centro and plan on using it until I can someday get the Palm Pre on ATT for under $100. That could be a long wait.

I guess you could say that. Its not good for typing long emails and documents because the keys are very small. I find it great for short text messages. I got mine in april and it has been pretty good, although the keyboard light went out. I loved my cell but unfortunately it got run over by a car, I miss my palm!

How do you feel about the battery life? I just got one, and the battery completely drained by mid evening, with me only making a few short calls and sending about 5 text messages. I feel that I have to take a charger for work as well as car and anywhere I go, so I can keep it charged. Also, it doesn't turn completely off. Only the phone. The palm features stay on. I am thinking about returning it. Otherwise, I absolutely love most features about the phone.

The Palm Centro is an entry level smartphone, but carriers are simply charging too much for plans. The phone can be bought for as little as $49 with a 2 year plan but it will cost you $75 a month for a data plan and messaging. They should discount it to about $55-60. The T-Mobile G1 with the same plan costs $175, but only $65 a month. Over two years you will pay more for the Centro than the G1 and the G1 is 5 times the phone.

I'm a cell phone salesman (new to the business). For me, the Palm Centro is almost perfect. I don't want a lot of extra services (don't need to surf the net, etc.). But I want to synch with my desktop PC. In that respect the Centro is BETTER than the iphone.  I never liked Palm before because I didn't like graffiti. The Centro is a Palm I can live with for a long time.

go to ur text messages then push the Menu button(to the right of the "Alt" button) then go over to "Options" then click "Preferences" then check the box that says "Privacy Mode(Hide Text))"...and that'll make ur mesages private when u recieve them
