We think Madara summoned Kyuubi with it, and Itachi has 3 strong techniques, maybe there is even more? The clan had potensial that could create dangerous people to Konoha. (Itachi was good at acting evil) I think this is a petty excuse to kill of an inocent group of people tho.. Or were they inocent? We will find out eventually =).
