  • One of em almost pooped on me today.

  • I have one outside my house that has a broken leg. He looked like he was in bad shape so I started catching him some pin fish until he gets better.

  • I saw one of these in a local pond today. I saw it catch three big goldfish. It was so beautiful! I live in Idaho and I don't think I've ever seen one before.

  • I didn't realize they travel that far North. I live in South Florida and sometimes see blue herons behind my house (I live on a lake). They are very cool birds.

  • They occur as far north as southeastern Alaska.

  • Hello! Thanks for your comments. The footage in this video was taken in Belleville Canada (about halfway between Toronto and Montreal)and were taken in spring, summer and fall. They eat small fish, frogs, crayfish, etc. Thanks again for your comments

  • There is a heronry near my home in West Virginia. They nest along the river. By mid-summer (now) they are visiting ponds and lakes all around the heronry.
