It's not the lower ranked soldiers or officers who are the problem. It's the major generals who have total control over the army. They control the government, economy, resources, and foreign affairs. And the army did have some part in killing innocents back in the 90s.

i m algerian and i,ve been in the algerian army for 1 year and half (military service) i swear to god all this is bullshit ,i really regret wasting this period of my life in this so called stupid army it was all about humiliation from the high ranking .you learn nothing from them even you go backward .this army is responsible for oppressing our people and killing almost 200 000 algerian civilians .if we go to war with another descent army they will be the first to do the traitor and runaway.

@morerad123 i'm not against the middle ranking officers or the simple soldiers,but the generals & co especially the ones who run the secret services are old french army soldiers and everyone know that they infiltrated the new free algerian army ,it was general de gaule plan and they belong to what we called at that time lacoste promotion because the colonial power planed ahead to control algeria even without being there,unfortunately the plan succeded and the proof is what we live now.

first, they need a better school system to educate themselves, second, they need better employment to improve the economy. then, they can grow into a sucessful country
