  • just love

  • Oh, those "liquid lingerings" of Laurie Anderson. "Let X" and "Gravity's Angel" are my two favorites. I also love a particular cut from United States (?) whose lyrics ask, "Do you, do you want--to go home." Haunting, haunting, haunting. We adore Laurie.

  • Every time I predict something unpleasant, correctly, I always say, 'Oh boy. Right again', in exactly the 'hat-check clerk from an ice-rink' inflection. Laurie Anderson's unbelievable coolth has etched itself on me since I discovered her, in the mid-80s.

I *need* to find another cd of Big Science. I had to sell mine, one particularly starving-artist year. That sucked.

This, 'Big Science', and 'Happy Birthday' are my favourites, on this cd. She is so witty! Bewitching.

  • hahah, yes, very much so. i do that too sometimes! :")

    oh boy! right again! :")

why is it so difficult to find Big Science CD? it has been re-issued recently, couple of years back. it's so easy to get it online these days, isn't it?

  • This is a very beautiful, melancholy song. My personal favorite from "Big Science."

  • @imbalancingact mine too...

  • Couldn't be nearly worse quality, but it's better to have something of this than nothing at all, and even better that it happened in Prague.

So, how just how many of you little maniacs were alive in 1968 in the first place, during the Prague Spring, eh?

  • I was walking in George Street, Sydney and I met this guy outside a record store. He was playing the B-Side of this single. Walk the dog. At least as good a let X equal X, which first appeared as a flexidisk in Art Forum Magazine. Thanks for posting - and thank YOU Laurie for making the world more interesting. Eks Eks Zero Zero.

  • @redrightbear

I had heard LA many years ago, in the 80's, in rural Kentucky where allmost no one had heard of her, let alone listen/open up to her. A few years ago I was in the Castro section of San Francisco and "Talk Normal" was coming from a whole foods type grocery, which was very nice for me.

  • @odovicor That's "almost"--sorry.

  • So cool she did an old song in concert...thanks for posting. I would kill for video of the US Live performance.

  • I met of a friend of a friend recently who was at that show! I can't even imagine what that was like. Take care

  • there is something delightfully desperate about Laurie Andersons music, but not way that gets you down, it inspires more than anything else

  • I doný know i feel so much anguish everytie i hear this song...just cant explain it. This is very rare since Laurie doesnt like to perform her old songs, but this piece is still one of my favorite all time songs...still just can't explai why.

  • Yes it's one of my all time favourites too. It's such a pretty tune with strange slowly funny lyrics. Laconic? Yep, it just haunts you.
