Hi There are many Indians like me who are against caste system but the politicians in India for their own political gain have divided Indians on the basis of castes by having reservations in educational institutions.U will mostly find people with this kind of mentality in villages.like the one in this video.and its not easy to remove this since this has been going on for centuries.but just like how sati got abolished,,and homosexuality got legalised i am sure in the next 50y caste will b histor

I look at Dalits and non - Dalits. I can't tell the difference. I feel this it is truly stupid for Indians to abuse their own people.I hope it will not take 50 years for this to change. What a powerful country India would be, if they opened education and equality to all the people.

Because they are all the same people by look, by dress, by their food and just about everything, they are same people. The hindu society with mythical and superstitious believes and faiths created the pathology that we see today, since it has been for almost 3000 past years, it is so ingrained, perhaps there even some Gene expression in them about human rights abuse and discrimination that may not be found in any other parts of the world or in any other countries

I heard about caste system in India before, but it still shocked me when I watched this whole series documentary. If this caste system was in China, it had been a complete revolution already!!! We have unfairness in every society, but a caste system like this, I would say is the most extreme I have even seen. India does need a revolution like China used to have before moving on....

No one can say by looks,it all depends in which cast you born, in India we have got around 2200 castes and 6000 sub-castes which is shame that was the main reason we have been ruled by others for thousands years.

@Jibbie49 People who are racist can always tell....they'll know by a person's name, the village they're from or their occupation. There will always be somebody trying to keep someone else down. That's what the caste system is all about...screwing other people over. The only way to eliminate untouchability is to eliminate the entire caste system. The whole idea of caste and a caste system needs to be wiped off the earth forever!!!

@easternshorefilam I think it is sad, since in America some of the most important people have come from our poorest. Our famous President Abe Lincoln was a poor farm boy; Elvis Presley, our KING of Rock & Roll was a share-croppers son. We'd have missed so much with a Caste System.

If it was just about surnames, why couldn't people just change their names or lie and go by another? I once read that part of this particular caste involves the fact that many of those in it are darker skinned whereas many of the higher castes hail from northern India, the same people who claim to have Aryan ancestry.
