He is certainly an interesting man and the 7.5 minutes flew by in no time. He's incredibly sharp for 97 years of age. I love it when men can carry off suspenders :D
Thanks for sharing. Are you planning on going back to see his gardens?
he was very sharp for his age. nothing that was stopping his mind as far as i could tell. he talked for 2.5 hours straight and the only thing he showed signs of was repeating himself once or twice. i will definitely be going back next year, and hopefully see the gardens and his house - designed by the famed LA architect Raphael Soriano. when I go back, I will video more, i just caught this at the last second. and as you said, he carried off the suspenders perfectly!
It's too bad that he wasn't up to doing the tour when you were there. Next year he'll be another year older. I noticed in the picture he had a wheeled walker and I did research him and saw him in pictures holding a cane with a walker nearby. I guess that's expected for his age, but he sure seemed as sharp as a tack. Isn't it terrible when your mind is there, but the body just can't keep up? Anyway, he sure is interesting. Apparently he has been here in Hawaii giving lectures too!
he does use a walker, but his body is still pretty darn strong. he was at my school (USC) to photograph the new architectural addition and spent just over 5 hours on his feet (with the assistance of the wheeled walker), so he is still going there too. And funny thing, four days later I saw him on the side of the street at the LA public library taking pictures there. He is hindered by the walking a little, but still pushing throuhg it. I wish I had seen the house too, it would have been great.
