I think that you did an overall nice job! The thing that I would mostly point out is the 8th notes in the 3/4 section are supposed to be felt like they're in 6/8. (The only reason I'm point this out is because it took me an insanely long time to get that part down).
Another thing- And this is my own opinion. I think that the beginning could be a lot faster, but the choral section could be slower and more flowy. It seems like the same dynamic and you can do A LOT more with it.
wow....uh you need a life outside of band...i mean im all about music but you cant really be that into it to leave that long of a comment. its not healthy. and btw there is no 3/4 bar and its supposed to be 5/8 or 7/8 depending on what 8th note part you're talking about.
I'm pretty sure that it's not possible for me to have a life outside of band. I'm a music education major so it's music every day for me :) If I remember correctly (I haven't looked at the music in a long time), there are 5/8 and 7/8 measures, however there's an entire section that's in 3/4 that isn't supposed to feel like it's in 3/4. I really don't remember though...
pretty good. i'm currently working on this solo, and i'm taking it a bit faster; but thats just my personal preference. Could've brought out the dynamics/accents in a couple spots. Overall a very nice job
overall this solo needs to be faster (a little bit) and dynamics need to be exagerated. make sure you count in 7/8 and try not to rush. retard on 1:59 leading in to the 5/4. good job though
thank you for the constructive criticism. that is exactly the stuff i need work on dynamics and tempo changes. i've been playing purely drumset and snare drum for like 8 years . then i got to college where i was forced to play this amazing instrument. sadly i still need a LOT of work on it.
thanks for your reply. i played it slow because i wasn't sure of myself and i get kind of nervous playing things on marimba as opposed to drumset where i don't get nervous. and yes.. dynamics is something i need more work on
Not bad, but the song is way cooler if you play that beginning part a bit faster.. and there are a TON of dynamics you're missing - a TON. I would use softer rolling mallets for those rolling sections also. Not bad.
MONOGRAPH IV is an amazing piece!
