I have a BMW M6, and all I can tell you is that Z06 driver isn't that good at shifting or he's not racing his car right. The ZO6 is a very very fast car, and the M6 is very fast in higher speeds, but not ZO6 fast.
@jaffkurdo I want to note that the M6 in this video is MODIFIED. I put in about 26K in modifications to this car so it certainly out performs a factory spec M6 and therefore "is" definetely "Stock C6 ZO6 fast". This M6 easily outruns a stock M6 by many car lengths. Although the ZO6 driver could have shifted a little faster, the outcome is still clear.....When both cars are engaged in gear under power you can clearly see that the M6 pulls away after the 100 mph mark.
@keithta I just saw your mods on the part one video you have, and didn't realize you have most of the NA bolt-ons.... Your car is running very strong! So good in fact that its pulling like that under a 100. Congrats ;) The outcome with those mods aren't suprising now.
the biggest factor here is the gearing in the M6 especially with the 7spd. if it just had the mods without the aftermarket FD, the results would be very different. Gearing on the Z06 sucks for the power it has compared to the ZR1
A stock 06 ZO6 up agents a stock 06 M6. I'm talking both cars stock, the Z06 will put that way over priced M6 to shame. I drag race I go to the local track about once a month and I have witnessed a stock Z06 run 11.59 on the quarter mile and 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. The M6 is listed for a half second less 0 to 60.
Wekk the M6 wasn't designed for racing, it's a Grand Tourer. And a nice 2007 model for about 45g's, I get Navi, leather, heated seats, Sexy sounding V10, amd seats 4, I'll take it anyday.

The main 2 reasons why the M6 pulls so hard is just like the camera guy said, the 7 spd and of course its pretty heavily modded and has an even higher F/D ratio which works to the 7spd's advantage rather than a 6 spd.
i saw a modded Z-06 vs a M6,its on here, and it was truly SAD, how bad the vette killed the M, but this was a really good run considerin it was a Modded V-10 that couldnt pull away until the vette hit its tall 5th gear, shorten 5th and it wouldve even all the way
I'm a Corvette nut...I still enjoyed the race. I know it was mod versus stock. It was a race just to race. I once raced Al Copeland in his Lamborghini with my 1971 LT1 Vette. He beat me. A corvette is a true sports car, not some hype up luxury cruiser. What's the big deal? A modded V10 beating a stock V8. That's not impressive. With enough money you can do that with any car. A fair race would be stock vs stock, and if you can't keep up why even bother to race em. A stock Porsche would've been a better choice. At least they're in the same genre.

Exactly. I took my girlfriend out for a night of drifting a V10 M5 Sedan. The M5 & M6 feel...perfect. We took stock, and modded corvettes out on the same tracking, and the vettes always felt skiddish, and just "bluh" on the throttle. The feel of having luxury in a BMW M & knowing most prancing horses cant follow you down a windy road is a (for lack of better words) wonderful feeling. BMW Ms have split personalities that can be shosen at the press of a button, literally.

the m6 weighs 3909 lbs and the c6z06 is 3100 lbs roughly....the m6 has been clocked at 211mph or 340kph once the delimitter has been removed, I have seen the c6 do 202

Your statement is something a jackass would say. The BMW has work done to it, of course its going to be thie victor in this case. Stock for stock the vette wins or mod the vette to the same level of sophistication and the beamer wouldnt have a chance.
The only reason the BMW won (and it took a while for it to start pulling) was because it has a bunch of mods, i.e. a cam for one thing. Otherwise the vette would have won. The base C6 beats the M6 stock for stock. The BMW is a nice car though.
Well, M6 has a bit more power than the Z06 but in most treet races shifting is a huge issue. Manual gears are always a +++ and a "mod" could mean anything from just an exaust to a stage 3 turbo. Most kids with daddy's cars race but they don't realize they got a separated "sports" gear like the BMW to use the full power but they do the "Drive economic" one.

no driver mods needed. he shifts nice and clean. problem is when he shifts from 4th to 5th the rpm drops considerably and momentum is lost. the gearbox is the issue here.

A corvette is a true sports car, not some hype up luxury cruiser. What's the big deal? A modded V10 beating a stock V8. That's not impressive. With enough money you can do that with any car. A fair race would be stock vs stock, and if you can't keep up why even bother to race em. A stock Porsche would've been a better choice. At least they're in the same genre.

I'm a Z06 lover...but I don't know why people always have to say nice race...but if this, if that. Everyone knows how mean the Z06 is & if they don't they aren't worth commenting on youtube...lol. This race is awesome...Z06 could use a driver mod though. I'd like to see every tenth used in that bad boy! Damn autobahn tuned beemers! haha. Nice rides guys ;-)

Exactly. I took my girlfriend out for a night of drifting a V10 M5 Sedan. The M5 & M6 feel...perfect. We took stock, and modded corvettes out on the same tracking, and the vettes always felt skiddish, and just "bluh" on the throttle. The feel of having luxury in a BMW M & knowing most prancing horses cant follow you down a windy road is a (for lack of better words) wonderful feeling. BMW Ms have split personalities that can be shosen at the press of a button, literally.

That is impressive. The M6 just walked away. Personally I'd take the Z06. I know my way around GM stuff and for the same money (including money spent on mods here) I could have a 550whp Heads/Cam/Headers Z06 with money left for coilovers, Brembos, and wheels.
Granted, you can still take this M6 to the opera. Not so much the cammed LS7.

the m6 weighs 3909 lbs and the c6z06 is 3100 lbs roughly....the m6 has been clocked at 211mph or 340kph once the delimitter has been removed, I have seen the c6 do 202

Aside from the piss poor shifting on the vette's part, the M6 is modded quite a bit, esp the rear diff of 3.91's, a cam with a tune, headers etc. C'mon people of course its going to pull away like that. Oh I like how you mention in the info "1 driver and 1 passenger to keep the race fair", as if saying if the vette didnt have that extra passenger the Z06 would have won?!? WTF?

The Z06 got worked even harder after it hits 5th gear.. By 180 MPH the M6 is at 7th gear, where the Z06 tops out at 5th gear. NO CONTEST. Poor gearings for the Cheby

The only reason the BMW won (and it took a while for it to start pulling) was because it has a bunch of mods, i.e. a cam for one thing. Otherwise the vette would have won. The base C6 beats the M6 stock for stock. The BMW is a nice car though.

Well, M6 has a bit more power than the Z06 but in most treet races shifting is a huge issue. Manual gears are always a +++ and a "mod" could mean anything from just an exaust to a stage 3 turbo. Most kids with daddy's cars race but they don't realize they got a separated "sports" gear like the BMW to use the full power but they do the "Drive economic" one.
Winner could be anyone but I do love my BMW

no driver mods needed. he shifts nice and clean. problem is when he shifts from 4th to 5th the rpm drops considerably and momentum is lost. the gearbox is the issue here.
