This song is so beautiful! Its expresses true surrender to the will of God in our lives. For me, it's about obedience an free will (I do not think God forces us to do anything I believe he is a God of choice).Like the clay we remain guided & pliable in the Potters hand knowing that he knows how to produce vessels of honour that will please & glorify him. @freetube1to1 Very good point. I myself am a 5 point Calvinist. On the surface, this song seems to contradict Rom 9:21. Yes, God is the potter; we are the clay. Who can resist God (or even choose Him). In fact, 2 Thess 2:13-14 says that God chooses us -- not the other way around.

Nevertheless, there are some scriptures which focus on man's small and limited role in sanctification (not salvation). James 4:7 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

James 4:7 tells the reader the benefits of resisting the Devil, and to allow the will of the father to be our power .

@abituringan I beg to differ -- I believe the Romans passage is relevant -- in fact I interpret the whole book of Romans as pointing to God's sovereignty and man's depravity. Didn't John the Baptist say, "He (Jesus) must increase and I must decrease." ?

Too much of today's greasy grace churches preach, "I must increase in order for others to see God's (and my) glory."

I do believe that a song (or Scripture for that matter ) means only as much as one has lived it.

In fact, we are the only creatures on the face of the planet with the decision to act for ourselves. We can choose to love Christ as our savior or reject him. If not then sin wouldnt exist. God did not intend sin for humanity.
