I have been following the cure for over 20 years and I would have to say that the 1990 summer festivals was some of their best playing ever. they were so tight from touring disintegration by this point that the were better than well rehearsed, perfection in my opinion.

20 jahre ist das nun her....ich war damals dort. in Leipzig....ich finde keine worte.....unglaublich, Roubord! wir sind schon früh um acht eingeritten um das konzert von 22 uhr bis kurz vor mitternacht als eine art ...wie soll ich sagen...gottesdienst...zu erleben. the cure live in der knapp vergangenen DDR... unglaublich.... sie waren da.... danach direkt von Leipzig nach Prag mit dem zug durch die nacht.....Roubord! (is sächssch und auf hochdeutsch "Roubord" Smith.

i think i like it slower better, it feels darker and more intense, how it slowly unravels and just wraps you in heartbreak. but this version is amazing as well, it's aggressive and desperate, kind of crashing and falling and pushing through the pain. both versions are beautiful.

It supposed to be fast! It sounds better this way. Go Boris! They played it fast in 89-90. Check out the amazing version from Wembley 89' on Entreat. They usually play their songs a bit faster live cause they're too slow on the albums especially in this case with the Disintegration album.

This version is too fast. Even the other songs, I remember during this Leipzig gig were played in a faster tempo. The best example of this was 'Fascination Street'. But unlike this song, 'Fascination Street' sounded really amazing.

This is not the question of fast and slow or about Jason and Boris. This song does not sound that effective when played at a faster tempo than what is normally present on the record. Some songs work that way and some do not. This song needs a slow epic kind of a feel (irrespective of who is playing drums).
