  • Awareness and experience go hand in hand.

  • Hey man, take it as a learning experience. You've been able to connect with people all around the world as equals, who you wouldn't normally talk to if it wasn't for the game. You simply exchanged one set of experiences for others that will always be with you. Thank you for sharing your story.

  • Also, I'm not going to lie brother... MMORPG's are absolutley NOT for people with families who do not have self control. You made the right decision. Let MMORPG's be played by us who do not want families or kids. A career, exercise, and MMORPG's are fine for us. Families aren't for everyone, but for those who chose the family life. Do not neglect.

  • @SkygroundQ You're right. MMO's simply don't fit in certain lifestyles and the 'having kids, wife, good job, lot of bills' lifestyle is probably the worst. I knew going in that "some" people got addicted but i didn't think it could happen to me. MMo's are designed to take up alot of time. The problem started when I started caring about having the best gear/stats, leveling proffesions, grinding mats and rep, etc... If I was the only one being hurt, there would've been no problem.

  • Get a job, fuck your wife, spend time with your kids, and schedule WOW to your schedule.. that way you have everything you want in life with some free time to yourself back into the wonderful land of azeroth

  • This guy needs to stop worrying about WoW and go fuck his wife, who's with me?

  • @RealmWoW Dude.... this comment has already been made... Stop copying other people's comments...geez!

  • @RealmWoW Uploading a video like this takes alot of courage and you should admire that. Have a heart! Who's with me?

  • Im sorry to hear that man. My game is DoomII scull tag. They added 4 new weapons, 8 new monsters, runes, and fuckloads and fuckloads of new shit the game can do ie; slants, double sectoring, swimmable water, duck, jump lighting coloration, sky boxes cameras and way more. I been spendin about 8 hrs a day for the last 2 months makin this really huge complex map for it. Im almost done! its gonna be such a hardcore badass map.

  • I backslid - reinstalled - played one of my many 80's to 85....totally NOT worth it. Cata has ruined WoW forever.

  • It's true. WoW and other games like it are like playing with fire. It may seem harmless at first but eventually you're going to get burnt.

He's also dead on when he mentions the social aspect. Probably the most critical element in this games is the fact that there are hundreds of different people to meet and talk to from all over the world that all have a common interest.

Not so easy to find in real life.

  • @therealrobvandam oh and like others said, you have my respect man. It takes alot of will power to up and walk away from an addiction as powerful as mmorpg's can be.

  • Trust me, the best way to quit is to find something else to do, but make sure it's something healthy and that will do a good for you...

  • DELETE your characters

  • Even though I dont know you, I feel happy for you and somewhat proud that you posted these videos. I was about to start playing and you turned me around, you have also helped many others and showed them the right way to go. Goob job bro

  • Thank you for posting this video, it is such an inspiration... Congratz on breaking the habit. WoW is so damn addicting, starting the 29th of September my sub runs out and I will enjoy a WoW free college year.

  • u got my respect bro keep fightin i wish i could do what you did.

  • I feel your pain. i started playing runescape in around 04 and did it until probably 09. i then started playing wow and am still playing today. but i still have fun with it, but regret all of the time i have wasted on it when i could have been doing something more productive with my life, i wish you luck.

  • I'm kinda in the same boat buddy... But I was addicted to RuneScape, I started in 2005 and just quit this year. 6 YEARS of my life were sucked away. I regret it so much.

  • I like games, but MMORPGs I do not play, I like games having a beginning and an end. But this dude has wife and kids? Why doesn't he play games with his kids? Why lock yourself in a virtual world, when there is more fun you can have outside of it? I'm single, all my relationships last no longer than 3 months, I have much more space to play things like WoW. But I don't, there are more edifying activities I can do. ;-)

  • disliked. typical american so hopeless. probably thinks god is his savior too. Tell me who puts the gun to your head and tells you to play a harmless video game?

  • Im glad Cata came out because it made it so much easier to quit with such a shitty expansion....

No more will i feel obligated to log in and play. Im done finally and i must say life is ALOT better without WoW. Its not Blizzard's fault, it's the player who doesnt give two shits about their own life and the lives of their families. I think about it everyday, but I KNOW if i were to resubscribe that it'd be the same ol shit day in a nd day out....Theres life w/out WoW, believe me. God bless XD

  • I must admit I shed a tear watching this. I too was a WoW addict for around 2 years back in 06-07. I stopped playing bc it was all just too repetitive and I never got anything done...You know you're an addict when you are still thinking about the game when you quit4 years ago...at least i still do. but i know that playing the game will just waste too much time.

  • The first 40 levels in 07 were like crack mother fucking cocaine. Hook, line and sinker. 4 years i lost to this black hole of time. Its rough dealing with addition and everybodies experience is always different. However, i dealt with a lot of the same problems you did. Atleast you didnt waste 4 years brother.

  • Much respect for you mate,i watched all 3 parts. You did a great job admiting your addiction and quiting the game. Most here that troll you dont have the guts to even think they might be addicted.Respect once again,my only advice ,be carefull not to fall in a similar phase but with a different game. Peace :)

  • giving up the game is hard.. I commend u for doing it... I am also working on giving it up... for a year it took my life away too.. I gave up hanging with friends to play this stupid game... now that my friends in the game are quitting I have decided to as well... all that time spent leveling 4 level 85s and all I can say is why...

  • Good that you kicked the "habit" this game and it's players are so sad it's pathetic.

  • @0110001101010 and not a single fuck was given that day

  • i feel ya man

  • @Wowplayer43 LOL.....Says the guy who's youtube username is wowplayer.....hahahaha...

Save the trolling for trade chat... we don't want it here.

  • @dvdwmplr made this account back in 2007 or something my buddy

  • @Wowplayer43 HMMMM..... the same year you started playing WoW.... almost every single day..... coincidence? I think not.

"I don't think about it when I'm not on it"

Sure... so I guess you were "on it" when you created your YT account.... and "on it" while you was watching this vid.... sure, I believe you... obvious troll is fail troll. Try again my buddy.

  • @dvdwmplr what i meant by "i don't think about it when i'm not on it" is thinking about the game and doing things in the game. Not sure what you meant by that comment, saying i'm thinking about warcraft just by watching a vid or some guy talking about it? and no i'm not trolling i wouldn't have replied this many times if i was.

  • I'm sorry I don't know how to add comments like everyone else does but, I want to say that I am glad that you posted this. I am a wife of a gamer addict and I love that you gave me perspective on what it is like for someone to be addicted to a MMORPG.

  • @MrsDoodle87 Thanks for watching. I'm kinda glad you're able to see his side of the story, so to speak. It starts out fun, like a game should be , then somewhere..at some point... it turns into an obsession. Maybe (hopefully) one day he'll realize how much time and money he's wasting and how much "real" life he's missing and wake up decide enough is enough. And hopefully it wil happen before it's too late and he's paid more than he bargained for.

  • @dvdwmplr fuck off bitch.

  • @Wowplayer43 you fail!!

  • @aminfrared consider slapping yourself

  • I started play WoW when it first came out in 2004. At first I only played casually but then my addiction got pretty bad. Luckily I had the insight to quit.

I have almost entirely quit for about four years now, although I've had two short relapses since then (but I managed the relapses better - spent less time on the game or only binged on the weekends).

For two years after I quit I had dreams and cravings about WoW. It gets better, but SLOWLY. To this day I am occasionally tempted when bored.

  • takes a real man to be as brutally honest as you are and understand what your going through great video keep your head up

  • I played for 6 year now. I quit the game because like you sayed your life runs only for this game. You exactly talked about me. Its now 6 weeks now and i feel fine.

I am from Germany and we have a saying here. I´ll try to translat it.

You can glue a crack in a bowl. It will hold but it is still a crack in a bowl.

I am trying to say that the game will always be a demon in my soul.

  • @Newie67 You're exactly right. That's a wise saying.

It's reminds me a little of a Stone Temple pilots song called "Heaven & Hot Rods"

Part of the lyrics go ---

"You can get it if you really want it.

But you better off just leave it alone.

You won't forget it if you ever had it

So you're better off just stayin' at home."

In other words--If you never do it, you will never miss it. Once you've done it, though, you will never forget it.

    Thanks for watching

  • Thanks for sharing your story man. I got sucked into the same shit, especially with being in a "hardcore raiding guild". The game for me personally was just too much excitement, too many people to talk to, too many defined goals that were just always out of my reach (because whenever I achieved something, I usually ended up making a goal for myself or picked up on something the guild was trying to do).

I just think human minds aren't able to deal with the amount of stimulation WoW brings.

  • I Know How It Is When I Was Younger I Was Addicted To A Game Called Soul Blazer I Always Wanted To Skip School Just To Play It The Music From It Would Always Play In My Head I Would Always Sit By The Lake Where The Bus Stop Was And Dream Of Being In That World I Wanted To Miss The Bus All The Time.

  • Welcome back to real life. Good job!

  • its an evil game. i know how you feel. i missed vital years of my adolescence cause of that game

  • Dave, I'm impressed !!! Hopefully some people after watching Your speech will realize the dangers of getting too deep into this so addictive game. Good luck !

  • Very moving story Dave, i used to play for many years, its extremely addictive... every moment i played i knew i wanted to stop, i would log on daily as soon as i wake up without thinking and play all day long.

Some of my friends play and have been asking me to continue playing with them.. i would really like to, but i dont want to go back into the dull repetitive habit of sitting in front of my computer screen for 10 hours + a day.

    Your story has helped me

    Thank you Dave

  • Having been to Hell and back is IMMENSELY valuable. This scare has perspective-ized you... so, please, don't consider your MMOPIC fail (lol sorry) as only lost time. You've learned more from this--of what's precious, in life--than you might've learned otherwise. Now you've something to really show your kids, and all the kids (all ages) who watch you here, for all time.

(Sorry, everybody! I just got so hyped up--so wonderful of Dave! I'll stop commenting for now, though!)

    -hugs to all & dashes-

  • Three people are EBIL.

    <3.

  • dude relax

  • what moving story, you're very brave and your wife sounds amazing. i've been dying to play this game but not so much now....

  • @poeticjoka Thanks for the watching. Yes I do have an amazing wife. I remember about 6 months into my playing, I went and visited a cousin of mine and he asked how I'd been. I told him I was constantly playing WoW and he asked if it was any good. I told him I was addicted and that it was like crack. My exact words were, " It's like crack. If you've never done it, then don't ever do it, but if you do do it, hit me up."

  • @dvdwmplr i still want to play it but common sense says its better not to bring that kind of temptation into my house and family thanks for posting hope you guys are doing great!

  • @dvdwmplr I laughed. It's just that way--"Don't DO it! but if ya do..."

I'm too impressed. YOU are a real stand-up man, having been down, come back Of Your Own Power--to gift us with this humility and public compassion.

Become an activist--make the "beeline" to public speaking, and SHARE YOUR STORY!

    It's becoming *so* important...

Let us be your therapy, *and* help our collective future?--anyone who's stuck can do this, too!

EVERYONE, SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR DAVE!

    <3,

    A Gladdened Bird.

  • @dvdwmplr Sorry, I forgot--

My admiration goes out to your wife, too. I'm quite sure everyone she knew was saying to throw in the towel. And, you know--I know you know, I'm not lecturing--that they were, 99 out of 100 times, gonna be right.

You've both hit the jackpot, here; maybe you should *both* go public speaking...?

    <3!!!

    P. S. I find the best way to push the old memories back is to make new ones.

    P. P. S. Don't *worry*!--it's just ONE little moment at a time.

    WE LOVE YOU GUYS!

  • @poeticjoka Oh, please don't... it's so not worth it, I swear! I'd rather hear some of your funny poems... :).

    <3.

  • why delete accounts? u can get some serious money out from them

  • @jorge12app It's like giving up on drugs, you don't sell what you still have, you just throw them away. Usually when you realize you have some sort of addicition to something that thing starts disgusting you and you don't want to get close to it so you cannot start again.

  • @PAPERINIKGT kinda true

  • i felt the same the month after i stopped... i just couldnt stop thinking about it

  • Well it's been about 2 years now and hopefully things have gotten better.I hope they will for me and your story inspires me.I hope you are happier now and thank you.

  • I cant quit, i go back after a month or 2 of not playing...every time it never fails

  • your got a good woman dude i played this gamer regliously for 2 yrs i am glad i got over it

  • Play Luminosity. It will help your willpower, concentration and more. It takes willpower to beat this sort of addiction.

  • ..(page 2)1day and fought what he had done with his life.He couldent remember a singel time the last 3years when he had done Anything els than just playing wow.He told me he cryed fore like 1h and then he sold his acc and computer and bought a card with 1year on the gym fore some of the money.Nowhe have lost almost all his weight and have a girlfriendand acculy doing things of his life.Wow ARE an adicction and i dont think people realise ho hard it is to quit.Thanx for telling ous your story! :)

  • This is about an reletive of mine. He started playing wow when it came out. He LOVED it. So he played i day in and day out with hes friends from school. But when he and all his friends got 18 and quitted hishool all his friends stopt playing beqous they wanted to get jobs and many of them had girlfriends too. But he keept on playing, ewry day, he Newer stopt playing it. he put on alot of weight too. Before he were pretty athletik but then he almost waight 190kg. And just like you he woke up....

  • what is the song at the end of the video

  • You know, it takes a great deal of courage to not only come to the realization that you have a problem, but to post it on YouTube for the world to see. THAT is truly commendable. Thank you for sharing your story.

I think it's key to know that WoW is like the cycle of addiction itself. It will never be enough. No matter how many alts you have or achs you get, the thrill always wears off. And you'll log right back on to clutch , consume and hoard again. An endless loop for an endless game.

  • When playing WoW you're free. It's hard to give up freedom.

  • @Gorilladin LOL.... I guess it depends on your definition of freedom.....

  • @dvdwmplr I couldn't agree with your response any more!

I've contemplated going back, i even bought the expansion, but i know what i'm gonna go back to and really don't know if i should or not.

  • It's very real, and the memories still haunt me to this day. I was as severe as it gets, in terms of addiction.I started at the age of 15, quit at 18, and am now 20. I see how much this game ruled my life back then, but I was so happy at the time, and am no longer happy. The only time in life that I was happy, was when I played wow.

Now here I am 2 years later, still sad over old memories. I wish I had never played this game, cause I set my life up for what it is now. (Nothing)

  • @Vazoline im 18 and i feel the same as you but i still have time to make thing right and so help me god i will do my best

  • once an adict- always an adict.

im truly proud and inspired by your story and i hope things get better for you...it gets better

    :)

    have a good one

  • @Jaustin908 Thanks for watching. I'm glad your aware that this can become a serious problem if you let it. Thanks for sharing your story too and good luck to you.

  • and ive just realized that i have been inside all day, my grades were terible in school, i was in a new school not trying to make a social life, and now my family got involved with this stupid game. so i quit about a month ago and it feels great. once in a while i go and look at my character for like a min and i tell my self that im done ...but in the back of my mind i really wana do one more inctance or talk to my guilld and this and that. like you said in one of your older comments next comnt

  • your a brave dude... it takes alot not just to quit the game but to document it to youtube so others dont make the same mistake. i know this isnt as serious as your situation but i had been playing WoW for about 2 weeks. each day id play like 6-8 hrs

a day on the weekends and i got to lvl 40. and i was so exited that i got my new mount speed and i could wear plate. then i realized that my sister came in just about an hour before and asked to play outside and i yelled at her>continue on next post

  • you have inspired me to really watch what im doing

  • Have you looked at WoW Detox? It's a website for people that were addicted like me and really helps. I check it out when I feel like re-installing the game and playing again. Google: 'WoW Detox'. Good luck.

  • @SuperSparkyMark1 Sure have. If you watched the whole vid you'd see me suggest just that. Start watching at about 8:00

  • @dvdwmplr - Great video. Yeah, I saw that at the very end but I'd already written the comment. It's a good website - really helped me to quit.

  • @SuperSparkyMark1 Thanks for watching. Even today, a year and a half after quitting, I still go read wowdetox testimonials. I guess it's true what they say, once an addict-always an addict... Oh well, it is what it is...

  • Great videos, thanks. I've just quit WoW. It's a curse.

  • How can you be addicted to wow when you only ever made it to Kara. LOL your an addict and you never went to SSC/TK BT or Sunwell?

  • @skyscraper83 Where is it written that you have to be a raider to be addicted? I wasn't a raider and wasn't really even geared for kara but I still had to play the game all the time. What time I wasn't farming or playing around on my main, I was making twinks and leveling alts. The game isn't nessesarily all about endgame raiding anyway. Not for me, at least. If it was then It wouldn't be addictive at all. I would've maxed my gear out and quit.

  • i really enjoyed watching ur videos. ty.

  • @yuddda yw

  • Giving up smoking is now going to be super easy !!!!

    Good Luck !

  • Did you start smoking weed again?

  • Hey. Called you a noob in your first video, watched all three now.Feel bad now, you a good guy dave, hope things are going well for you!

  • (continued) I watched in terror for the last 25 minutes... this was almost like a flash-forward for me (if such a thing exists). All those feelings you described and those urges have been things I have experienced. It's been an on and off thing and usually hits me the worst in the summer when I have almost no responsibilities. This video has really opened my eyes. I do have an addiction and I need to do something about it. Thank you so much Dave. I really appreciate this. Good lucky buddy

  • @saiedz Thanks for watching and commenting. I went to your channel to see what game you're addicted to. It's obvious which one. If you feel like you have a problem then chances are you do. The first step lies in you wanting to quit. You are the game's first line of defense - It'll make you tell yourself anything to justify staying in the game. Idk if your game has a monthly fee, but the first step is cancelling that and uninstalling. Create responsibilities for yourself. Good luck to you too.

  • What a story. You have my utmost respect for sharing this; it takes a man to admit a weakness like addiction. I'm a hardcore gamer myself and although I never actually played WoW (luckily the 10 day trial just wouldn't work for me somehow) I have been addicted to many games in general for years now. I guess I'm also very lucky that I'm only 21 and I still dont have responsibilities like looking after a family or maintaining a job.

  • ty for this video

  • I play WoW Im only 16. Iwould like to congradulate you for stoping because it is very time consuming. I wish my dad played WoW HAAH :)

  • Damn Dave, I thought this would be a stupid video but your emotion and words are so heartfelt and inspiring. I just started playing WoW with friends but I understand how that is as i've been addicted to video games all my life.

I think what depresses me the most is that, I can either succumb to the psychologically designed mechanisms of modern video games to feed off of you and your wallet via instant gratification or be a part to making this system more efficient. Gov't, business, games, etc.

  • Hey Dave , I've been playing WoW for about 2-3 years now , I have allot of friends (on WoW) and enjoy it very very much but was never really addicted , I played today for 15-20mins , got bored , well not really bored but I had better things to do like spending quality time with my fiance , studying for my advance java courses , playing with my dogs/kitty cat etc. . I think one of the main problems is people don't enjoy their life's anymore and fill that void with an epic char on WoW . Good luck

  • @captianelemento1 I think you're probably right. I'm just glad I fell into WoW instead of alcoholism or heroin or crack or something. At least WoW is purely mental and not a physical addiction. Thanks for watching.

  • @dvdwmplr I'm really glad you kicked WoW when it became a problem. :) I'm proud of you and hope that your life goes well :D

  • Thank you. I played it like crazy until The Burning Crusade came out in early 2007. Then I let my subscription run out because I was pissed about how everyone could easily get better gear than what I had worked so hard for, just by buying an expansion. Now I'm glad I did, although I still get the urges to go play. And it's been 3½ years!!! Anyway, thanks again. You're a good man, and you are sincere. Loved the ending as well. "What's your game?" :D See you IRL!

  • @Plafintarr Well, I began playing about 6 months before WoTLK, so by the time I it came out I hadn't been 70 very long and was decked out in mostly pvp epics. I was glad to be able to start questing again instead of raiding and worrying about gear. Now, with Cata coming out soon, I'd probably be pissed at this point about how easy they've made the game.

Thanks for watching and for the comment. Good luck to you.

  • Well, with the upcoming release of Cataclysm on December 7th, I've re-installed the re-purchased the game, contacted Blizzard and had my 80's restored with all gear and gold. I logged in and found myself exactly where I was standing when I "quit".

Cataclysm is going to be the ultimate gaming experience, play casual and you'll be ok. 5 level 80's, 2 level 19 twinks and many 50-60 characters - can't wait to reach level 85!

Dude, I can relate to your vids, but Cataclysms is a MUST HAVE!

  • lol suicidal GOOD?????? lol i think not

i think you can play mmos and have a life but p2p model is not that it keeps you hooked coming back due to lack of options GW2 even GW was not addictive you can play it when you want there is no fee to play it is there, that is the diff between wow and GW GW is free if you want you can play it but it is Not going to Suck you in, fact they have things that tell you when you have played 1 hour advise you take a break wow needs that

  • @Boozebegood lol, I certainly did NOT mean to imply that suicide and self-cutting are "good". I guess I should've said, "suicidal, cutting and ALL THAT TYPE OF THING" or "ALL THEY ENTAIL". Not "all that good shit". lol.

Yeah, an hourly heads up would be good for WoW but all the hardcore players would probably just ignore it or find some way to disable it. Thanks for watching. Good luck to you.

  • ahhahahaha ur a fukin idiot for bieng an addict

  • Dude, thanks for sharing this....

I played WoW for three years of my life after high school. lost so much because of it, but what I'm focusing on here, is how even now, over a year after I quit, I still have the urges. It's like it will never go away. I'm on a mission to find out what blizzard has in this game that is enabling customers so easily to become addicted and expose it.

Thanks again for your testimony and helping spread the word about wowdetox.com

  • @Oohgodnoo Well, I have heard theorys that imply that all the wierd whispering noises you hear coming from the spirit rezzers in the graveyards everytime you die are really subliminal messages convincing your sub-conscience that you must keep playing and keep giving blizz your money.

But, I don't know..... sounds kinda farfeched.

Good luck to you and thanks for watching.

  • Your story is a mirror image of mine the only difference is the ranting of my raid leader in a hardcore raid guild combined with the new 4.0 pre cat patch that sux balls was finally the straw that broke the camels back i would like to say it was the love of my family and that did play a part guess i woke up as well 4 yrs 8 lev 80 toons for what ? nothing ! i did remove wow from my pc and now my new quest is being a dad my greatest achievement being a good father and husband .......god bless

  • @GrayWulf316 nerd

  • @primos89 troll

  • I wasted 2007 on world of warcraft man. I did exactly the same thing, lost contact with my freinds that i went out with everyday and had fun. I got introduced to world of warcraft, chain smoked, smoked weed into it for a while then gave up becuase as you said you cant be bothered to go to your dealer even if it is just a 5 minute walk up the road. I wasted my whole 2007 summer going to bed at 7am and waking up at 6pm then playing WoW the whole night and basicly it was a escape from reality.

  • @westond12 I hear ya, man. Early 08' to mid 09' is just a blur when I try to remember anything that happened during my WoW time. I'd play from about 2:00pm till 4am. Thanks for watching.

  • This dude sucks. it took him 4 months to level to 70? and he was supposedly playing all day every day? I leveled to 60 in less than one month when the game was released, and went to school and had a job. Given I was in beta, but still...

The game becomes a problem when your raid scheduling and endgame interupt your daily life, when you choose an online community and your rep over real life concerns. I can not see how you could get "addicted" the the leveling/alt grind.

    Guy is a dim bulb

  • @Wayzata14 Tbh it depends stuff can get in the way of you leveling e.g if your really into your proffesion or whatever or you spent alot of time in b.g maybe you just enjoyed leveling alot. but to be honest it is easily to get addicted so dont blame him. Tho I do prefer to go out with freinds and smoke weed. :)

  • @westond12 Thnx. I wasn't in a mad rush to level cap. I spent alot of time on my first toon just exploring and screwing around. This was my first MMO, so I had a ton to learn in the beginning. So yeah, at first I did suck.

I could easily lvl a toon to 80 in a month or less now. Especially with the dungeon finder, XP in BG's and all the BoA's. I have an addictive nature. I'm always addicted to SOMETHING. For awhile it just happened to be WoW. Wayzata14 is a putz....

  • i dont "speak" english soo well .. so ... im try my best.

I play wow since 5 years old, i quit like 3 months ago ...and im glad to do that, why? ... is a little obvious comparing the histories here, u get a better life outside wow, of cource is a great game, and u can get a lot of "good experiences inside that world" but u life get destroyed if u can manage u adiction.

Anyway, im glad A LOT for quiting, and im trying my best to do a good life.

thanks for u vid, and good luck all, peace.

  • lol why the fuck would you quit you dumbass

  • Thank you very much for your story. I damaged my life too and had the same wake up call. Health, and real life. I spent a year straight on a treadmill repairing the damage I allowed to happen from this game.

I'm glad you quit. I'm glad I quit, and I'm glad others are waking up to it.

    Take care man.

  • @Twosidedtape Yeah, the whole health thing really creeps up on you. It happens so gradually that you hardly realize it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • you should play warcraft 3, that way you can play in the wow universe without the addiction, or perhaps you could go and read the books, that way you can feed your warcraft hunger, it works for me. warcraft 3 isn't addictive like wow but it still can be fun, if you want to take it to the practical side then you could use the warcraft 3 world editor. and if you want to stop pc gaming altogether then get the books, what could go wrong with reading a book?

  • @brainjuice654 i play WC3 when WoW is down on tuesday lol

  • my wow account got hacked and i didn't really care

  • good for you man. i've stopped playing wow as well, but I wouldn't really consider myself an addict. i found myself running around on my mount in dalaran a good hour a day. but keep strong and never play that god forsaken game.

  • Good for him for managing to quit. Sounded so much like my situation, except I didn't have a wife and kids.

Played WoW for over 2 years, quitting 2 months ago. Now spend my time doing weight training and playing a variety of sports. My self-esteem and quality of life have improved drastically. Wish I'd quit sooner.

  • Man, I am speechless, thanks again for sharing and caring. You are a real man because you were honest and not afraid to share all the details for the sake of others which you do not know. You are a true, generous human. God Bless.

  • Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find yourself, warcraft made me 3 years late for my first college class, boy was that one hell of a tarty..

  • i think i need more help than anything, ive been playing wow for over 4 years now ive left retail wow for good but before i left a friend recomended a private server to me, now im hooked onto them, i cant break free from them, i understood when you said same thing everyday and the day before but its just like playing retail wow again, I need to get off it but i cant, WoW has destroyed my life! i know it needs to end now but now i belive it could be too late, I am a WoW addict...please help =l

  • this was a very good video. thank u very much for opening up. i actually got very emotional. u have a avery good wife. she deserves all u have to give her.

  • this was a very good video. thank u very much for opening up. i actually got very emotional.

  • I think the pull of WoW is the money- the monthly subscription. I'm glad Guild Wars doesn't have a subscription so I don't have to worry about missing a week or two of playing it. GW is really the only MMO I actually like. My first MMO was ToonTown Online and that was $80 a year. It had that pull of "You have to play everyday, it's $80" but it wasn't a big deal. But $15 is a huge problem, at least for me.

And because I'm not a huge fan of MMOs, Guild Wars is the MMO for me.

  • Thanks for posting this video. It sure has helped and will help several people with this awful addiction. I beat it almost a year ago.

  • @GTskittle

Stopped playing wow one year ago, but never did regret it for a second. I played it for a year or so and one day i decided to stop playing. I subscribed to a gym and since 6 month or so i gained allot of muscles and going out and enjoy life. Since 2 months i have an girlfriend and feeling like a god.

  • @TheMilition Awesome! I'm glad you could have your time with the game then just happily be done with it. I didn't want to quit at the time so that made it alot more painful to let go, for me. Good luck to you and thanks for watching.

  • @dvdwmplr dude you have i hole life ahead of you just drive it slow and easy :D

  • @TheMilition I wish I could do the same

  • powerful and inspiring, thank you for sharing

  • Hey, im also a highschool student. i have nothing bad or degrading to say about you or your ids, i only wish i could type the "Delete" into my characters slot. i have an 80 dk and lock and a 74 rogue atm. i am constantly being ragged on by my parents and i want to stop, but i cant. alot of my friends (my REAL friends) play this game also and we have a lot of fun, but i am addicted, they are casual players... i had a girlfriend (lost her) left the house (no more) tell me what to do!

  • Thanks for posting these videos. I'm a high school student whose grades have dropped just because I would raid during the week. I would neglect my homework and I feel horrible for doing this. I've had many great memories in WoW but I cant play and balance it with regular life. I still cant quit this horrible addicting game. I understand that it has a negative effect on my life, but I still play everyday. I need something to help me kick this addiction. Takes guts to post this more power to you!

  • @GTskittle Health and time-- the most fragile and valuable things you can posess.

Fragile in the manner that they can slip away so easily, be taken away or stupidly squandered. Valualbe in the since that they cannot be bought with any form of currency. In a way we don't really even posess these things. They're are not gaurenteed or covered by any warrentees. The are literally priceless. Once they're gone, they're gone forever. Thanks for watching.

  • I cant get how ppl get addicted to wow. I have 2 80s but whit good gear, but i would NEVER take wow before anything IRL!

  • I suggest you take this off. Your children will be so embarrassed when they grow up a little, or perhaps they already are.

Also, you played for something more than a year, which really is nothing compared to people who have been playing WoW for years. People with no one to drag them out of it, people that do work shit jobs to support their gaming habits. I think you are being too dramatic about it - then again that's a sign that you really quit for good or at least putting a lot of energy in it

  • @Aschmodei Making these vids was the most humiliating thing I've ever done. I'm the one embarassed. My kids... they're proud of me. They're happy to have thier father back. Yes, some people have been playing 5+ years. Does that make thier addiction worse? Do they have more of a "right" to claim the term addiction? They have no one to pull them out... that means they have no one depending on them for sustinence... what they're doing affects only themselves. Mine was affecting many. What's worse?

  • @conhead32 Thanks alot for the kind comment and for watching. I've noticed that most of the negative coments come from those who watch the first vid and never bother to watch the other 2. I go to thier channel and all thier favs and subs pertain to wow. Obvious fanboys in denial, I assume-- Too scared to watch the other 2 vids cuz they know how close to home it's gonna hit. That's why parts 2&3 only have about 1/3 the views as Pt 1. But I'm not here to judge. I know not all players are addicts.

  • i am a WoW addict.... almost 2 level 80s... im also very young at the age of 14 and it being summer i can play all day from 12 (i wake up that late) too probley about 4....

  • @24super24 Well, at your age, you're in a much different position than me. You don't have things(most typical 14yrolds, anyway) that you simply have to get done like go to work, pay the bills, feed the kids,etc...but at the same time you are sacrificing alot of time that could be spent making real life memories and not just a rehash of what you did yesterday.

I just hope you don't ever get to the point of putting the game before what's important. Like school and family. Good luck to you.

  • @dvdwmplr yes school is going too be very hard if i do not quit.... i was planning on it but now that my paladins almost level 80 i want too gear him because i hate my lvl 80 DK ive been playing WoW off and on for 2 years... at first i had no idea what i was doing at such a young age (11,12) but i enjoyed running around doing nothing pretty much then as i got older i started too level up too 30 then i quit for my xbox... then played again after a year then quit then blah blah blah here i am now

  • @Horatio332 at the risk of sounding like a dwarf... Glad I could help. :)

    Thanks for watching.

  • Thanks for sharing

  • @silentc1015 Thanks for watching

  • i wanna thank you for the inspiring vlogs. i my self was a wow addict n it also quit with the help from a loved one. i played for about four years and i was an on/off player. but iv desided to quit because it ruined my last relationship. but now that its all in the past im done with wow for good and moved to other games that arent addicting. so far iv been clean per say is a month and 2weeks.

  • thanks for the story. You are not alone with this problem. there are many out there! for a some its to late, but you made it, I would shake you hand if I saw you in rl.

  • @hyssop74 its never too late ... its only people without the willpower to better thier lives who think like that.

  • Have you gone back to it?

  • Good for you dude. Good for you.

  • what you really should have done was do another hobby, i dont know what this hobby would be but you will forget about it eventually. It would have also been easier to just slowly limit yourself. I simply got bored of the game after doing just about everything after about 2 years of playing, great game and was actually the last time i really played any vodeo games because after you play this one all the other ones seem inadequate for some reason.

  • @gamingod7539 Thats how i quit .. i
