Going into the French Open Fed was not a favorite. He lost the finals 3 years in a row to Nadal, lost his Wimbledon crown, his #1 rank, and the Australian Open. The critics said he was done winning majors. When Nadal lost at the French, Fed clawed his way out of tough matches to finally win the major that alluded him and completed the career slam, and became GOAT.
isnt federer borderline the best player of his sport ever? i dont see how this makes all that much since? i dont fallow tennis to much though can someone explain?!?
thanks for the lyrics! by the way since i am not english speaker, is it possible that someone explains to me what that phrase means? : "see, with every long shot come from behind underdog will tell you is this.."? i cant seem to sort it out! thanks!
Long shots and underdogs are people who unlikely to win
for ex u.s.a were underdogs to spain
or u.s.a were long shots to win against spain
Im not trying to brag about u.s.a beating spain because i'm guessing your european and i was trying to find something to relate to european culture and the world cup is a big thing there .
thanks for the wonderful video!! if it is not much trouble could you plz post the words somewhere so that i can fully understand what he is saying?? thanks in advance!!
--> did you make this video?? it is trully inspirational! thanks!
Rafa looks so sad on 1:01. Is it FO? The vid itself is great (just sad for Rafa, even though I'm Fed fan), sounds like something a sports channel would show. :)
really nice :) it would been nice though if one of the themes of this video is showing the list of rg winners progressively. so at the beginning it was borg era, then 80s, eventually move into the 90s, rafa's reign and then it would end with roger's 2009 win, just to solidify the message of this video
Hey, awesome vid! Really well-made; it genuinely looks like one of those tribute videos you'd see on television after such a win...and what a win it was, after everyone had written Federer off and the FO looked out of the grasp of anyone not named Nadal. Never count out a true competitor causing the upset, or finally achieving that dream. This is so fitting. Great work!
Nope. More like "luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity" (Seneca). And in tennis, you create your own luck. And Federer has done that -- by getting deep into tournaments so many times (in this case, RG), he gave himself a lot of chances to be there when the moment presented itself. Luck does favor the brave.
this is not my opinion because it is simply not true :) the best two players of the tournament usually make it to the finals. this year, well, Federer did.
lol, I said absolutely nothing about Rafa, actually. I was responding to someone else who said it was their opinion that Federer's win was not valid because he didn't go through Rafa.
Please spanish traduccion !!

That's because Nadal had an edge on this particular surface and was considered a favourite by many, but he did not win, Roger did ;)))

The world cup is basically a huge thing everywhere bar USA/Canada.
CleckleysProof 2 years ago
Ya and football and baseball is huge here. and before you go say anything about football a football coach gave this speech.
irishc92 2 years ago
What's your point exactly. I was simply alluding to the universal love for world cup football (bar USA). Simply a clarification on your quote:
"a big thing there"

"here's the thing that makes life so interesting. the theory of
evolution claims that only the strong shall survive, and that maybe
so. but the theory of competition says, just because they're the
strong, doesn't mean they can't get their asses kicked, thats right.
kurfurstus 2 years ago
see, with every long shot come from behind underdog will tell you is
this, the other guy may in fact be the favorite, the odds may be
stacked against you, fair enough. but what the odds don't know, is
this isn't a math test, this is completely different kind of test. one
where, passion, has a funny way of trumping logic.
kurfurstus 2 years ago 2
so before you step
up to the starting line, before the whistle blows and the clock starts
ticking, just remember out here, the results don't always add up. no
matter what the stats may say, and the experts may think, and the
Commentators may have predicted, when the race is on, all bets are
off.
kurfurstus 2 years ago
don't be suprised if someone decides to flip the script and take
a pass on yelling uncle. and then suddenly as the old saying goes, we
got ourselves a game."

For some reason, the last FO made me want Soderling to go higher in the rankings. But I'm a Fed fan, of course.
